Draw a line OB
Angle OBD = x = ODB
Angle BOD = 180 - Angle OBD - Angle ODB
Angle BOD = 180 - 2x
The reflex angle at O will be = to
360 - (180 - 2x)
which is 180 + 2x
angle at the circumference is half the angle at the origin therefore
y = 1/2(180 + 2x)
y = 90 + x
y - x = 90

The - in front of the brackets is like a -1 multiplying into the bracket
-1(180 - 2x)
-1 x 180 = -180
-1 x -2x = 2x
360 - 180 + 2x
180 + 2x
