i need to make another square
I thougth that there are 3 from the original triangle
and then 2 elsewhere
i dont thinmkk im understanding the
'the squares on these three further line segments are then cnstructed outside the hexagon'
=IGG
IGG
OHH***
I see
there’s 3 in the q and u gotta make another 3
oh my lord i thought that was 3d
its very convincing 3d shape
if u geet me
thinking of it in 2d makes it so much easier
Every triangle is right angled
nvm
its not
what are the 2 equal squares.... the 2 big ones i drew in look convincing.... but why would they be equal
it’s the one on the top
look they both 1009
So using pythagoras a2 +b2=1009 but a2 and b2 are the areas of the 2 squares so they’re area sums to 1009
idk about my ab labelling but certainly each side labelled is either a or b and thee other side of the same triangle is ab
So u know the area now of 4 of the 6 squares
how do u know they are labeklled that way
like
why would that be
b * b
why isnt it a * b
Cos it’s a square…
💀
just rotated it
????????
i don’t even understand ur diagram
Good luck 💀
nah what ima say is acc logical if u use ur brain to understand what im saying
That’s unnecessary
U know the total area of the 2 squares u don’t need to keep working it out
which 2 squares
these?
Mate u wrote it in ur first line of working
i think ur doin it in a longer way than u need to
we know area one of the squares definitely which is 1009
we gotta find the other 2 i think u gotta use the triangles
u know the lines that connect the vertices of the triangles
maybe we use them triangles
how did u get 2 that
Where did u get 2008 from?
I’m assuming ur gonna need cosine rule to find those lengths of the triangle which shld give u the answer
Wrong the angle in the triangles isn’t 90° so u can’t use that to get the other sidelength
nah i think u r crazy
yup im crazy
U defo need cosine rule for this
yeah there’s many approaches
Wait I have a solution but it’s very complicated to explain
see if what i’m saying makes more sense than him 💀
ok u see the triangle formed from the two biggest squares
Yooo someone help with my normal distribution question after pls
u see how we got the first square to be 1009 we can use the two squares to find the biggest one
Still wrong
i only know gcse sorry
It wld be a/c not 2ab
nah i have an idea
i think u should draw ur squares differently , one on each triangle
wait u did
Ye
That’s like step 1 in this q
u gotta use a triangle to help u form another square
see the triangle formed from the two biggest squares ??
Ye
u can rotate it sort of 90 anti-clockwise
try it urself actually so u can see then u get a straight line and u can make another square a ?? it’s kinda confusing
let’s say green is where it started u can move it to make it look like yellow and u now know that it’s the same length as a
i acc don’t know but i think i’m on the right track
Do u know how radians work?
is it not possible for it to be rotated ??
how else would we find the area of the biggest square bc we gotta find the are of the other two
Mate yellow is not supposed to be there
?
it started at the green and now it’s been rotated i highlighted it lol
not rlly
Oh well this q might be very hard then
but that don’t mean what i’m doing is invalid bc idk how
check the ms it’s either 2018 or 2019 maclaurin olympiad
i don’t remember
It’s 2018 cos the q says 2018 is the area
Ye it uses radians asw
Ye
