Is this GCSE single maths?
What topic @supple berry
hidden quadratic
actually no
its just a difficult gcse power laws question
even i thot that isnt it like u do (4^x)(1^1)
4^1 mb
wdym u dont have a quadratic
let 4^x be y
yea
thats not a quadratic
no
yh
well i mean u cld just divide by 21 here
sure
thankyou
my handwritings shit lmk if u dont understand some bits
i'll just read it and get back to you in a moment 🙂
how does 4 ^x+1 = 4 x 4x ? (in the first line)
this is a new concept to me sorry😅
ohh okay
so essentially x^(a+b) = x^a * x^b
so thats the rule we're using here
so we have 4^(x+1), that can be split into 4^x * 4^1
okay thankyou i understand that bit now 😄
np
working through the rest now👍
so onto line 4 (that 16 on it).Could you please explain how you would get there
4 * 4^x = 4(4^x)
4^2 * 4^x = 16 * 4^x = 16(4^x)
x^2 (coefficient is 1) likewise 3x^2 (coefficient is 3) so in this eqs 4(4^x) the coefficient is 4 so 4^x the coefficient is 1
why is it not 4?
i just wanna know where you guys are pulling this one from 😭
also after that, someone give me another question similar to this so i can practice 👍
when you factorise something like this your basically taking 4^x out of each term or dividing each term by 4^x so 4^x/4^x is 1 thats where it comes from
or the fact that everything has a hidden coefficient of 1
i think i semi get it
Can you perhaps make a similar question for me to answer? for me to get a better sense of how to answer this sort of question on my own?
👆
5^x + 5^(x+1) + 5^(x+2) = 155
thanks!
also what type of question would this be classified under?
and do you have any video recommondations?
Index laws I think and idk any yt vids nothing will really look like this
alr thx, im stuck on the part with the brackets..i put : 5x(1+5+10)=155 ?? is that right and if not why?
i then got 16 (5^x )= 155
which then i divided both sides by 16 got
9.6875
square root both sides by 5 so square root of that to get 15.5623745
💀
i feel like somethings gone wrong
maths is trippyyyyy
It would be 1(5^x) + 5(5^x) + 25(5^x) = 155
You said 10 but remember that 5^(x+2) means (5^x) × 5²
4^x+4•4^x+16•4^x=336
21•4^x=336
4^x=16
X=2
4^x=1*4^x
Is that question your stuck on a year 9 maths question?
yeah
Ok that’s quite hard
yeahhh,i'm not the best at math but i thought i would try and go over the things im not sure of. exibit A.-this question.😭 👆
im trying to look for videos but nothing quiet goes over this
Oh ok this is in the curriculum, just it’s like one of the hardest questions
From the topic
yep! stil half confused on where the hidden 1 coefficient comes from tho😅
NO ..WAIT WHY DO I GET THIS NOW -
It makes senseeeee
i can finally rest😌
This explanation makes me understand now
same i was just slightly confused on where the 1 came from then i got it
it just clicked rn and i was like no wayyy, why didnt i think of this earlier
Have you done limiting reagents in chemistry
i don't think so? Let me check.
