We can divide both sides by cosx as there are no values of x that would satisfy cos
i dont understand sorryy
4sinx - cosx = 0
4sinx = cosx then divide by cosx so
4sinx/cosx = 1 then we know tanx = sinx/cosx so
4tanx = 1 then
tanx = 1/4
We can divide by cos because it’s only 0 if x = npi/2 for some integer n then if we sub this into the equation we get
4(1 or -1) - 0 = 0 which is never true so x is not equal to npi/2 thus cosx is never 0 so you can divide by it
