i cant really describe it but i can give an example
12x + 6 is equivalent to 6(2x + 1)
it’s taking out a common factor of the equation and putting it outside brackets and then putting the rest of the equation inside
so the common factor of 12x + 6 is 6
so 12/6 is 2x and 6/6 is 1
6(2x + 1) and then to expand it out again you just times whatever’s in the outside to whatever’s on the inside
so 6 x 2x is 12x and 6x1 is 6 = 12x + 6
Take out the highest factor you can and place it outside the bracket
