4.4?
Why is this French
@azure glacier
Don’t know I just found scale factor from the lengths given of the left side of the triangle
And then applied it to the given length on the right side
yeah why ?
Because that’s how you do it? Idk how else to explain it or what else you want me to say lmao
ok nvm
hey
triangles ABC and ADE are similar
so the ratio between one side of ADE and the corresponding side of ABC must be the same as the same done for another pair of corresponding sides
for instance;
AD : AB must be equal to AE : AC
if you find the ratio of sides between two triangles, you can multiply it by that scale factor to get the corresponding side length for the other triangle
to find the length of AD, we do AB + BD
so AD = 14 cm
and we are given that AB = 10 cm
AD / AB = 14/10 = 1.4 (this is the scale factor)
let’s find the side length of side AE, so that we can take away AC from that to get CE which is what it’s asking for
we multiply AC by the scale factor to get AE,
11 * 1.4 = 15.4 cm = AE
lastly, we take away AC from AE to get CE on its own
15.4 - 11 = 4.4 cm = CE
💀
hope that helps lmk if any of it is unclear
