#RX 9070 XT Crashes with Grey Screen with lines
449 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I can't and won't be returning sadly
are you using a different display port cable?
card already left border with me
I might try using new one since I've seen (and you can also see from this screenshot) that it's Samsung monitor which I also have
i cant actually see that
picture is like 240p
the thingy on left top corner is samsung shit
yes
the thing is I had this DP for a while and had no issues with my 7900XT before
point is, did you reinstall drivers
but I do have spare HDMI and DP's
no
🤦
I have X870E ice which has a lot of driver shit and I didn't install Master programm
I'll be reinstalling yes
did windows fail to install?
should I just uninstal/reinstall from control panel or use ddu
no
I have windows installed and playing games
you dont need ryzen master
but it crashes on me 1-2 times a day
I undervolted it by 160- mhz
and used Fullscreen in games
that had good effect
yeah bc its not running on the right drivers
but crashes just came back
either
both are reliable publishers
i read them reguarly and have downloaded from both
yeah haven't used DDU in a while
Close the right one and go with the Clean and restart ?
yes
any point in overclocking this card ?
i didnt oc mine
I just need to shut the f up
😂
i said stop for a reason, stay on task
do you have a "pro" card?
"pro" are their large blue or black gpus for workstations
you need to select your gpu in the dropdown bar
yea but pro edition is for stability no ?
you can try it but it wont work
im not sure whats amiss
you dont have one of these
every day I learn somethingh new
what's the Custom preset you have in Gaming/Graphics ?
also I have 7950X3D should I install Lasso again ?
project lasso for disabling some cores to get better perf in games
now I go testin if crashes repeat
yeah
I was just casually playign Bloons TD 6 and watching stuff in picture mode and it crashed
:/
I'm overthinking shit might kill my self
weird shit just accoured
overthinking it again
plugged DP and no signal but I just unplugpluged and now we have signal
will be making further testing on new DP
@lyric hare shit crashed on me again
after full day
and new interesting thing is that when it crashed and restarted my pc
I couldn't do anything
I was pressing on apps tryna restart , shii wouldn't respond in any way
they couldn't assist me with refund or replacement fucking newegg :/
go through manufacturer
and try a different cable if you havent yet. also a different display and also a different display output on the card
I tried different DP will be trying HDMI but I will be limited to 120Hz that way
but again I had this same PC and same monitor do wonders with 7900XT until I sold it and UPGRADED to this slop :/
yeah fuck them I'll say
I'm still waiting on my 9600x that came in dead from newegg after 2 days of use
waiting for them to send replacement
42C is 9070XT 65C idk
Cpu integrated maybe ?
Surely it can't be hotspot right ?
Go to the monitoring screen in MSI afterburner
yeah I just set it up
That’s most likely either hotspot or memory temp
Yeah probably
that's HIGHest I could screenshot
on average it's 50C
at 4K Ultra dead by daylight
That’s good lol
Alright
ATP I might just contact the manufacturer
jumped to 70C when game loaded
doesn't matter since card left the country
won't be paying taxes and shipping stuff , my 9600x with box cost me already tooo much
to ship and tax
funny shot I got there
Hotspot didn't go past 75C which for me personally is concerning , Cpu was great and ram eh
ignore dust I clean daily but it gets dusty over again
did you ever do a ram test when you got the ram?
"i clean daily" is the biggest cap i've ever heard
nobody cleans daily
I've worked IT for big pharma and had to go into clean spaces. Had to clean every time you went in/out.

and the gowning b.s.
oh which port on the GPU is the monitor plugged into?
Sometimes AMD can be picky
For the CPU, are you using the default paste that came pre-installed onto the AIO or did you replace it with something "fancy"? If you replaced it, you made sure to put an adequate amount of paste (and hopefully didn't get too crazy and put too much) ?
ram has been with me since 2024
DP
never too much and it's Amech SGT-4
I did testing up there if you wanna check the temps it didn't overheat :/
not the whole set but actually before I did clean the keyboard/mic monitor but shit gets dusty here :/
Gpu hasn't crashed on me Today but I wasn't gaming much of the time just accounting shit I do
I would check for a BIOS update. If you had made any OC changes to the PCU/ram, perhaps set evrything back to default then do more testing to see if you still experience any crashing
I did bios update a month or two ago , I will , No changed to Ram , what's PCU ? , I tried undervolting which I thought helped at the time but now it's back to normal
Last time I updated Bios it was from GCC= Gigabyte control center and not it's not showing me that there are updates so am I clear ?
CPU not PCU. dang it !!
Like with Intel CPUs, you want to make sure you try the default XMP memory profile (unless you know the specific speed/timing of your memory, then you can adjust accordingly). If you have an AMD cpu, it would be the default EXPO profile
7950X3D CL30-36-36-something , Expo 1 or 2 On for 6000Mhz
Try EXPO 1 and if there is a OC setting for the CPU, possibly just leave it on whatever is the default (or recommended) setting for now. Then try gaming again to see what happens
OKAY
NEW LEAD
my shit just crashed and I my mouse cursor was moving but the image on monitor wasn't flinching and nothing was happening
then I unplugged and replugged the DP and everything went back to normal
meaning we have a Lead
is it displayport on Monitor at fault or the Gpu
as I am typing this it still gives me freezes , until I move my mouse
it doesn't change imagery , letters don't show up while I'm typing
shit is wierd as well because when I alt tab into Facebook and scroll shit wierds out and only middle part is changing not the whole tab
I'd call it visual distortion
Well... if you have another monitor (and/or DP cable) to test with, I would do that. If you have another GPU laying around also you could possibly pop in and test with, that would also give an indication.
just sold the Gpu but issue hasn't resurfaced yet I applied for job have interview upcoming with first wage gonna pay off college shit and upgrade monitor
might go with 4K oled
I have Samsung G70A any suggestions for ugprade ?
i wouldnt bother upgrading the display unless it has a problem other than not being oled
i'd only be looking at a 4k 240+hz oled if buying a new one
yeah some games just run well past 144hz that I have was thinking if 144 vs 240 was as big of a jump as 60 vs 144
I'm using a pair of Asus ROG 32" QD-OLED 4k 240hz monitors.. although these MSRP for $1,299. The 2nd one I got on sale over the holidays for $899 at Microcenter.
You can find much cheaper 4k 240hz monitors.. these only cost this much because they are QD-OLED.
its not quite but you will noticw
id say 70% or so percent by my gameplay
biggest thing is getting lower response time
some 240hz are slower response time than some 144
get a quality panel
Nowhere near as big of a jump, but definitely still noticeable
crashes are still present and now it crashed on me while just gaming not while streaming
I also don't wanna call it crash since PC just restarts and those Lines appear on my screen
it all started with several upgrades / new 9070XT / Bios update / new windows updates. upgraded from 7900XT that had no issues whatsoever
That is absolutely a crash btw
A hard crash too which is not good
did you ever try hdmi like you said you would?
and did you figure out which refresh rates at which resolutions cause the issue?
also new DP and hdmi cables
this issue looks to be closer to a display driver time out or power delivery issue. so it could also be something wrong with either the GPU or the PSU is faulty
did didn't really help
I also found out that I had 2 drivers loaded and uninstalled one which made crashes less frequent and pc was more stable
pic is from web since it happens so quick I usually don't expect it and pc comes back pretty quick
that pic just has the same screen and thing going on
If your pc restarts when that happens it is a crash
I had 7900XT and it had no issues powering that thing
I have RM1000X shift
fucking newegg bunch of cunts
first they sent me faulty CPU and now this happens
imagine spending more than 5K on site and this is the customer support I get
is there any fix for this ?
why did you upgrade from a 7900 xt? the 9070 xt was barely an upgrade
it's like 10% faster
and you have less vram
hoped on bandwagon
got hyped up for upscaler and better rt
needed that 10% for my 4K display
if you have another power supply that is at least 750watt, i would try that next
hmm listen
my friend has same psu but 1200 watt but black
can I just change only Psu itself ?
or change ports on psu or change cables
as long as it uses the same compatible cables
you might also need to test with different pcie cables
nom nom
the issue could also be related to the power cable extension you're using
nope
I just added it
problem was beforehand :/
I did add another failure point but it's not the case :/
did it completely replace the original cable?
no
extensions
asiahorse
and number on motherboard is temp not a code
he has RM1200X black , I have RM1000X White , both Shift
I'd rather it be a PSU issue than GPU
i would try different psu cables first if you're still using what the psu came with
sure I'll try in the morning
different cable and different slot
it used to crash only when I was streaming but started crashing in random games
Sun haven which is like Stardew valley isn't that demanding of a game
it could be a cpu issue if it's only happening with the new 9600x
I have 7950X3D
but that fucking 9600x
oooo newegg I'll never forgive you
sold me faulty Cpu in a COMBO
and it took me 3+ months just to get replacement
by that i meant an issue with he cpu not working properly on the motherboard
like possible cpu pins not aligned properly
want me to check pins tommorow ?
the patter on your display is usually from a driver time out and or power delivery issue which can also cause a driver time out
but it can also be an issue with pcie lanes of the slot or the cpu socket
dont take the cpu out before checking everything else
ok last step will take it slow and steady
hope changing cables or their location helps out 🤞
ok I'll go get some rest and keep y'all updated
GN
its the two plug variant so cables matter more
if those aftermarket ones are a little poor in quality the that would probably do it
?
okay I finished cleaning my whole room and changing cables will start testing now
changed both cables and plugged em in different plugs
I didn't remember RM1000X shift having 4x Pci-e's for GPU
wow
ok it still crashed and this time it was worse usually it just restarts pc but it was stuck on Code 15
and took a min to go through I didn't force it to turn off
that is related to a ram issue
so it brings it back to a possible CPU pin issue, but it could just be a faulty ram issue or unstable ram settings
if you didnt do a ram test yet with memtest86 or something else that is as good, you should do that now
ddr5 has some error correction built in unlike ddr4, but it's not going to fix tons of errors that are a result of faulty modules or just unstable settings
downloading memtest86
check your modules one at a time if the first test pass throws out errors
check both in slot A2 first and then do it again in slot b2 if a2 gives no errors
if modules give errors in both slots, it may point more strongly to a faulty module. if one channel only throws out errors, that is a cpu pin issue, but could potentially be a ram slot pin issue
oh also the issue could just be the ram needs to be reseated
I hope that's the case
stop what do I do withthis
do I install on usb drive ?
or did I install the wrong thing
did you read the readme?
explain please
after I install it on usb
what's next do I run like windows ?
or how does it work
it is literally in the readme file
that is why it's called readme
also be warned that a full ram test can take up to 4 hours depending on how much ram you're scanning
more ram means longer scanning
16-32GB usually finishes in 3-5 hours depending on the cpu performance
dont keep running the test if you get errors
stop it, remove a module and start it again, start with removing the b2 module
I'll need to watch YT guide how to do this shiut
probably
Don't have mental capacity atm
ok installed on usb
will do tomorrow I guess since I have stuff to do
crashes got REALLY frequent after I changed those cables so idk I'm working rn and crashes are killing me
Code 15 is related to ram training. Id reseat the modules and let it retrain the ram, before running the ram test. If you haven't updated the bios yet, do that too before running a ram test
Oh... you already started
Discord didn't show your new messages until I posted
On the scale of apple to banana how coconuted am I ?
mango
I should just pull the plug :/
If you get errors during the scan, reseat the ram and try again
Reseating means pulling it out and placing it back in the slot
i literally just said to go do that like 30 minutes ago
Sorry I passed out
Getting sleepy 😪
I exited and went to windows for it to start repairing
Ok pulled out ram and will reseat them
Motherboard vrams are pretty hot not burning hot but hot
repair means windows is corrupted by the ram
so either the module is faulty or you bent a cpu pin or you can pray that it was just misaligned during installation and wont be permanent
it could also potentially be a bad cpu
But I had those parts for a while , I reseated them and it still went into automatic repair
:/
What's next ?
go run the ram test again
Okay sir
if automatic repair didnt fix windows, you may need to do more work fixing it manually than it can do automatically
also actually check in bios that both modules are showing up
I unplugged the USB btw when I turn the test off and exited it
dont bother with the ram test until you check bios
dont unplug the usb........................
you dont unplug the usb until you have made an OS safe from data corruption or the system iss off
Ok back to bios and booting the USB
Lesson learn hard way will stay with me until I did
Do I just start it?
It does show both ram and light em up
Okay both ram are testing this time around
Going for an hour nap till test finishes
Just tell me what steps I should follow when I wake up
In any cases
Fully completed test with 0 errors
did you reseat the ram yet?
fix windows if it's still broken and then see if you still have the issues you were having
want me to reinstall windows ?
Fully ?
after I just installed 500GB of games and files 💀
can I move them to other ssd somehow ?
moved some games I guess will save some files and then re-install I guess
I also think I had this drive with win11 on it for a while might that be a issue ?
Did you even attempt to repair windows yet?
nope
do that first
if windows does not boot up
or if you havent done much with the current install and it still wont boot without a repair, just reinstall to save time for both of us
is windows still not booting
also... partition your drive or put the game installs on a separate drive assuming they're through a game launcher like steam... dont put everyone on a single C partiton, because if windows needs to be reinstalled, it wipes it all out unless you have a back up plan like a separate partition or drive
i honestly dont know if you can follow the direction to do a proper repair of the boot files for windows, so it might be easier to just reinstall windows to save time
i also dont have time to help you trouble shoot the entire process
I'll just reinstall after I finish transfering files and etc
I truly hope this helps should I also install new file from microsoft site ?
cause I haven't updated my flash drive in a while
wont matter since you will have to install updates during install
but also, i have absolutely no idea if any of this will fix your problem
we have no idea if the issue is even fully fixed
in fact, maybe you should run a linux live disk before reinstalling windows if you have a good spare usb 3.0 flash drive and maybe even a usb 3.0 sata adapter to use a spare sata ssd as a usb attached fully working linux system
it could help determine if the issue is still present and i cna try helping you fix your windows booting issue when i have time later
you just need a way to get the iso image on to a usb drive, which is possible on a mobile device, but easier on windows
I had bazzite installed once
but they don't have fucking TT RGB PLus
and my fans are always ON full brightness
I have spare HDD and a lot of usb sticks with 64GB
but will try windows method first I guess
I will have games on my second drive so I'll start testing as soon as windows installs
and will know shortly after 1-2 days of testing
it might insta crash or problem vanishes
I'd also like to tell you the steps I take when I install windows and afterwards
I install GCC=Gigabyte control center and everything it has except norton
I install AMD adrenaline
and some other stuff brave/steam/discord
I also Update windows afterwards
I install TT RGB PLus
I don't tinker with pc that much otherwise in bios
only enable EXPO
It's for testing your system, to see if the problem happens on linux or if it was just corrupted windows like i suspect, like because of unstable ram settings or an unfinished memory training
the fans annoy me too much to attempt that and have little knowledge in linux to replicate everything I do on windows that might be causing that
You are not using it as a windows replacement... it is just to test if windows was the problem
Id get fedora 43 kde
might install it on my main SSD then maybe ?
but as you know it takes time to reproduce issue
it might take me full 1-2 days of suffering to replicate that
I had days it didn't bother me at all
No..... the live disk is run off the USB drive. It won't be saving anything you do, it's just to test if the problem you had is happening in a desktop environment
Many linux distros can be run off the USB drive they are written to, so you csn try it before you install it to a new ssd
I gott get going. I won't be back for a bit
I should get fedora 43 kde
install on stick
start it and do my stuff on it ?
just like usual
You csn try others, fedora is just simple enough for most people. Mint cinnamon is another option
I'll be needing guides so if fedora is easy and has a lot of material on it
its a win win
You csn use it for web browsing, but running games off it will be slow
well issue happens while I play games from what I've noticed
The idea is to test the system under a small load to see if the issue you had is still there
I don't remember it happening while surfing
I still don't understand how loading linux and doing light browsing will show issue
Unless you have another ssd to install linux to for game testing, your only other options are to fix windows boot or reinstall windows. I just don't have time to help with that right now
There are guides you can follow to attempt fixing windows boot problems
I reinstalled windows and after 10 minutes of gameplay it crashed
so no it's not windows probably
next is motherboard pins eh will check em tommorow in daylight
I do like to overtighten things but didn't do it on Aio I don't think so
It may be that you didnt tighten it down properly which can cause more pressure on one side thsn the other or maybe over tightened one side. Backing off screws slightly might fix the issue
more testing to come I reckon
Cpu has also been feeling hot lately
like it reaches 70C
which it didn't even come close to
I've been getting crashes every 30 minutes now
:/
will be taking pc for full diagnosis tmrw
he told me it's no point it will take ages to find the issue so I have to keep testing , I tested Single dims in 2-4 and crashes got a less frequent but still do appear
now testing second dim in 2 and 4 RAM's are most likely not an issue here
pc didn't crash with second dim in second slot at ALL yesterday
