@lapis gull better?

lapis gull
#

are you running the game off the 2TB drive?

#

what games?

elfin kayak
#

helldiver 2

#

and im running on SSD samsung 860 evo

lapis gull
#

resolution?

elfin kayak
#

1080p

lapis gull
#

well thne you are likely cpu limited

#

and you probably also lowered graphics settings which wouldnt have helped

elfin kayak
#

should i upgrade cpu then?

lapis gull
#

are you using vsync in game? what is your monitors max refreshrate?

elfin kayak
#

no

#

and the monitor i have is BenQ ZOWIE XL2546K 24.5-inch 240Hz Gaming Monitor | 1080P

lapis gull
#

you could upgrade to a 5700x3d on the same motherboard you have now but it may not help much

#

you may need a new platform

#

it mgiht solve the issue, but the issue could be caused by something else

elfin kayak
#

o

elfin kayak
lapis gull
#

what was your fps before the gpu swap and what is it now?

#

why a 7900x3d?

elfin kayak
#

budget

#

Wait

#

they're same price right?

#

7900x3d and 9900x3d?

elfin kayak
lapis gull
#

both are 12 core cpus but they use defective ccx that makes it effectively a 6 core cpu when you're gaming because most games cant use all the cores effectively and will stiuck to jsut the x3d ccx (one core cluster) part of the ccd (whole cpu package)

#

if the 7900x3d is cheaper than a 7800x3d, it's still a decent upgrade if cheaper by a good amount

#

@elfin kayakare you using upscaling in the game?

#

did you use dlss before?

#

oh wait nvm the game doesnt even have dlss

#

honestly i cant help you much with the games performance because i never played it before. right now i can only suggest using ddu to remove the old nvidia driver and the current amd driver and reinstalling the amd driver

#

wacthed the video

lapis gull
#

you would probably want to upgrade your display to 1440p 240hz though

elfin kayak
#

hmmm

lapis gull
#

you will have higher fps at 1080p but a lot of games may not utilize the gpu 100% at 1080p

#

really depends on the game

#

if you still want to play at 1080p you would want a 4k display because 1080p looks like dogshit on a 1440p

#

it's an either or situation

elfin kayak
#

if i want to stay 1080p upgrade to 7800x3d or 79003d?

#

ahh kk

lapis gull
#

doesnt matter

elfin kayak
#

oh ok

lapis gull
#

you will get similar fps on both of those cpus

#

the 7900x3d is kind of a waste of a cpu for just gaming because most games wont be using the whole cpu, only the x3d part

#

im not saying the upgrade will solve your problem right now though

#

before you go spending money, try to fix what is happening now

elfin kayak
#

Alright

#

Thank you

lapis gull
#

did you reset your motherboard bios when you changed gpus?

#

if you did, you will have wiped out your ram settings and need to reset it with xmp on. you didnt list your ram so i have no idea if that might be a contributing issue

elfin kayak
#

and oh sorry forgot to add ram

#

CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz CL18-22-22-42 1.35V Intel AMD Desktop Computer Memory - Black (CMK32GX4M2D3600C18)

#

reset*** sorry

#

im half sleepy

lapis gull
#

as in you set the bios back to defaults either in the bios or by pulling the battery out

#

or it would happen if you updated the bios

elfin kayak
#

Nah i didnt do that just dds and install new gpu

#

thats it

lapis gull
#

last thing i can suggest is that you need to clear your shader cache for the game

#

if it didnt do that for you, it could be the reason for the worse performance since shaders had been compiled for your old gpu
