Bluetooth adapter gone

#

@modest topaz

#

@crimson forge

#

should i still pull the io off

modest topaz
#

okay so yours is highly likely under that heatsink

worldly zephyr
#

Yea

#

I mean I know it is

#

I can see it

#

Just barely

modest topaz
#

some boards actually have it where the pcie lanes are along with the m.2 slots and covered by a separate heatsink and only connected by 2 wires to the antenna

#

anyhow, u’ll need to take the board out to see how the heatsink is mounted

worldly zephyr
#

Ah

worldly zephyr
modest topaz
#

if the wifi is working, it’s not the cpu

crimson forge
#

there may be an issue at the WiFi adapter

modest topaz
#

the adapter is 2 in 1, wifi and bluetooth together

crimson forge
#

i said that before he said wifi was working

#

they gave me the wrong info

#

the issue is likely likely either a driver issue, windows issue or the adapter itself is broken on just the BT

#

i dont think opening it further will help

vital cypress
#

do you have the wifi dongus screwed in?

crimson forge
#

i thought he was opening it to replace the adapter

worldly zephyr
modest topaz
#

this is how it looks. one wire is wifi, the other is bluetooth. both run on the same chip. so if wifi is working, it’s connected properly but the bluetooth module on it is probably fried

worldly zephyr
#

Wait nevermind that wouldn’t be the issue

#

One of the dongles was just a little loose but that would just hurt the signal not the device itself

crimson forge
#

wires connected doesnt affect the bt chip working

worldly zephyr
#

Yea

crimson forge
#

just signal not working

worldly zephyr
#

mhm

modest topaz
#

u can buy the module itself for like $20-50 depending on which u buy and from where then swap it out

crimson forge
#

since you dont have BT at all, it's either broken BT or windows problem

#

if it's not being detected at all in windows it might evne be an issue with the motherboard

#

was there a setting in bios for turning BT on and off?

Getting bluetooth to even work on this thing period was a MOTHERFUCKER

crimson forge
#

when shit goes sideways, you learn stuff for the next time

worldly zephyr
#

I just wish it wasn’t happening to mine

#

lol

#

Bluetooth on this motherboard, I COULD NOT get to work for like 3 weeks, and then it just magically worked flawlessy for a while

#

Now it’s killed entirely

modest topaz
#

mhmmm.. it’s really either one of the 3:

  1. drivers got uninstalled (u should see a ! or yellow triangle in device manager)
  2. the adapter is disabled on network devices (u’ll see it on device manager with a different icon)
  3. the adapter is faulty, likely the bluetooth module is fried
worldly zephyr
#

Bad wifi card from factory?

modest topaz
worldly zephyr
#

Great

crimson forge
#

@modest topazgoogle AI says there is an option in bios to turn BT on and off

worldly zephyr
#

Would that remove it from device manager though

modest topaz
modest topaz
crimson forge
#

worth a look if he puts it back together i suppose

modest topaz
#

basically bios telling the board to not provide power to the slot so the adapter is acting like it’s unplugged

crimson forge
#

got damn... i download so many motherboard manuals and not one of them is fucking labeled with the model by the manufacture

modest topaz
#

but usually wifi goes out as well if done in bios

crimson forge
#

look like it has the option to turn off either or both

modest topaz
#

i’ve only seen dell and hp bios to actually be able to separate the modules properly rofl

#

wait... that might be a non amd chipset

modest topaz
#

gigabyte has the option too and usually wifi is fucked when u turn off bluetooth

worldly zephyr
#

Hmm

#

Ok so I have a few options here

#

Take jt apart now

#

ir

crimson forge
#

nope... that video is amd wifi/bt adapter

#

so there is a chance BT was never enabled in bios

worldly zephyr
#

I could put it all back together now and check the event viewer and shit

#

I MIGHT be able to get a pcie card here to test

#

MIGHT

crimson forge
#

go check your bios

worldly zephyr
#

yeah that’s first when it goes back together

crimson forge
#

dont take anything part again unless you want to replace the module the board comes with

worldly zephyr
#

idk why it would turn off tho

crimson forge
#

or add a pcie card later

worldly zephyr
#

All that for nothing… damn….

crimson forge
#

i would ahve said stop taking it a part if i had realized what the actual problem was

#

i was thinking you were going to replace the adapter that board came with

worldly zephyr
#

gonna go see if I can find a pcie bt card here

#

before it all closes

crimson forge
#

you are that desperate?
