I could really use some help or advice. I built my own PC two years ago, and it's been running smoothly for the most part. However, the AIO cooler LEDs never worked from the start. So, after two years, I decided to give my PC a deep clean since it had accumulated a lot of dust, and I also wanted to try fixing the cooler LEDs.

I ended up partially rebuilding my PC, taking everything out except the fans and cooler. I spent a few hours cleaning each part with an air compressor and then fully rebuilt the PC, feeling 95% confident there wouldn't be any issues.

Unfortunately, when I tried to turn my PC back on, it didn't boot. I decided to leave it for the night and try again the next day (today).

Here's the issue: when I turn my PC on, everything seems to start working—fans, etc.—as usual. But after the usual 30 seconds it takes to boot, nothing happens. The PC stays on, but there's no signal to my monitor. My motherboard displays the error code 97, which the manual says means "Console Output devices connect." I have no idea what this means, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

PC Specs: i9 12900kf, 32gb 5600mhz ram, Nvidia 3080, 1600w 80+ platinum PSU

I tried 2 other gpus and they work

#

so it seems to be a issue with my current gpu

#

but how if I legit only carefully took it out blew some compressed air in it and put it right back?

paper fjord
#

I mean compressed air isn't really smart..at least if you were using it off an actual compressor.

dawn shadow
#

no just a simple hand held one that electric

#

so I really really doubt that air did anything

#

but ig who knows

paper fjord
#

If it works with other gpus but not current it'd a gpu problem, check the pins.

dawn shadow
#

yes that what it seems it come down to but I just dont understand how? like what could have happend to where I messed something up?

#

Yes pins are all good

#

I even tried a different pcie slot

#

i also plugged my card into my dads pc and it also didnt boot

paper fjord
#

Ya done killed the car.

#

Card*

dawn shadow
#

you think?

#

but how?

#

like no physical damage?

#

i really couldnt have handled it with more care if i tried 💀

paper fjord
#

Probably when you compressed aired the car..

#

Card*

dawn shadow
#

what type of damage would the air cause tho?

paper fjord
#

If it has a warranty just rma it.

dawn shadow
#

im fine with accepting that card is cooked

#

im more just wanting to know what happend

#

like what i did?

paper fjord
#

Coulda blown something into something it's not suppose to be in, now it's shorted.

dawn shadow
#

the sticker is still on the back

dawn shadow
#

stupid question but could me taking apart the card by chance fix it?

#

or if its shorted prob not even worth my time or energy huh?

paper fjord
#

I mean if you want to roll those dice..

dawn shadow
#

theres probably a 1% i would have any clue of where to even look if I opened it up tbh 💀

#

so ehh unless someone gives me more specfics of what to look for ill prob just accept the loss

paper fjord
#

Just rma it lol.

#

If it has a warranty all you need is the original receipt.

#

They don't know who actually bought it.

#

If it's like Asus and they registered the product just tel them to rma it with your address and name.

dawn shadow
paper fjord
#

Why I specifically said them..

#

Hit them up, ask them for it it's probably in their email knowing msot people these days, they can just forward it too you.

#

Bam done.

#

Assus doesn't even need the receipt they just want the serial number and you can send it in because they can check when it was bought from x retailer.

dawn shadow
#

alr will def just try to go rma it

#

thanks for the help fr

No while you used the compressed air on it, spinning fans create a current and will feed back into the gpu and kill it.

#

ive cleaned many a computer with compressed air and have made sure to hold down the fans if i even keep them in, i usually take them out and put a small amount of water on a paper towel then wring it out so its barely damp

dawn shadow
#

I mean yea the fans did spin a little. nothing crazy tho. but yea I mean i can understand see that being a potential reason.

#

a little can still kill the board

#

only takes 100+ rpm
