Just rebuilt my pc with a new Tec cooler
#re build 3.0+1.0 (later revisions will be storage only)

SPECS:
Z790 apex
2x24gb z5 8000 (oc to 8400mhz)
Msi ai1300p
Rtx white strix 4090 oc
13900ks
Etc
Why is there a fan over the RAM?
Z5 ram cooler is poorly designed so it needs to be actively cooled
I haven't had any issues with mine. 6400 C32
it has one df the best ram bins but at the cost of a poor heatsync (ddr5 8000 oc to ddr5 8400) temps baseline are around the 40c while my dom plats at similar clockspeeds on h16a are 10c lower
i like to monitor voltages since my cooler eats up 250ws
I didn't know they had even released 8000Mhz yet
its only stable in very specific pc setups even on xmp
I just found a couple kits of 6400 C32 when it was still newish for $120. So I grabbed them. Now they cost 120. Haha
u need a very good binned mc on a 13th gen cpu and a 2 dim mobo ie z790 apex tachyeon or dark
I had the ASUS Z690-E but sold it to get one with better VRM heatsinks like an Aorus or MSI. 13600K until I can save up.
strix is a ripoff tbh a tuf is a better value looks good though
They both seem to be. That board was $500 and had the same heatsinks as my B550. Aorus has some nice finned heatsinks
aorus is nice i just cant stand the bios other than asus ive commited to the ecosystem
It's odd that their AMD boards get good reviews but then the Intel are shite. I'm really impressed by MSI lately. Despite all of the really weird shit going on with them.
msi is great but the xoc on asus by far is superior sadly
Until it burns a hole in your CPU. Haha
thats an amd issue not intel and its for all manufactures for am5
I haven't seen any besides on ASUS boards. Intel has also been known to have voltage issues. They all try to make their parts look better by having insane stock voltages and power limits.
silicon lottery
My 12900KS was a great CPU but stock it was around 1.5v. Not great.
its only 1.5 idle
With how hot that thing RAN I'm not sure about that.
mine runs cool
The 13900KS is a hotbox. Did you undervolt it or is it that new cooler?
As for the RAM temps have you heard of K5 Pro thermal pad replacement? I love that stuff for GPUs and other heat soaked parts. I would assume it works well on RAM.
new cooler i only have a 280mm and 360mm
Well a thermoelectric cooler uses power to provide sub-ambient cooling, combined with a contact frame or delid they work quite well
can u use a tec while delid?
Pc re re rebuild lol
The tec is delta 2 they use a different mounting method
ah
Also the tec has a high chance of causing condensation so I'm not comfortable with direct die with it
What is the final build? The one with EK gpu waterblock?
there is no final build
So what is the current build?
Basically this with a z790 apex
A gpu waterblock will look better in my opinion
thermals were worse with it
also asus sent me a new 4090
How is that possible?
sharing a loop with a 13900ks
Ummm ic ic. How many radiators? And what size. I see a 360 top mounted
And the thermal electric chiller
And side 280mm
210 for ekwb but atm it borked itself so I'm waiting on a rma
That’s actually good to do when you’re OCing it a lot. I won’t fault him. There’s been times where NOT doing that has made for unstable OCs for me.
For ddr5 sk hynix ram starts being unstable if it gets too hot
It’s my experience with DDR4 B-die even.
O.O
Pushing 4133 to CL 18 or attempting 16. 🤪
Although usually wound up at 3866 with 16 even with Yuri’s help. 🥲
ah that makes sense
for this month im at ddr5 8400mhz cl38 couldnt get the cas latency lower
