#MSI Gaming x Trio 4090 underperforming
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i7-12700k and just a userbenchmark, dont have any of the 3dmarks atm
even in the games i play im getting very similar fps etc
You can download 3d mark demo steam to run time spy for free
i just got 3dmark for 6 dollars
im getting good scores but in games i seem to not be seeing improvements
but scores are eh
CPU bottleneck
hmm, you think? ive asked friends and they seemed to think it would be sufficient, should i upgrade my cpu?
No you shouldn’t
Wait until the Ryzen 8000 or 14th gen
But no it’s not sufficient. Everything bottlenecks the 4090 right now really. I have a 13600k and there’s definitely a lot of situations where I could have significantly better performance with a better CPU
What power supply as well? And are you using a native cable or the adapter?
i have a corsair RM1000e 1000w
using the dongle and 3 seperate pcie cables
Then it’s likely a cpu bottleneck
You can run hwinfo while gaming and see what your usage looks like
Your card isn't underperforming...
Based on 3dmark
Like what do you mean? You don't need to "upgrade" from a 12700k...that's fucking ridiculous
This is what I hate about this
I don't even wanna start lmao...hearing that just pisses me off
"Yeah...go spend another 500 dollars to make sure your 1600 dollar GPU performs as it should"....no....first there's nothing even wrong with it from what I see. You need to include more data
only using 34% gpu on average while playing
Alright ignore what I said
why not offer help instead of commenting like this. All you had to say was, i dont think its underperforming and may i see some more data
I did offer help
where
you didnt offer at all, you talked down to me like im an idiot, but alright man
Talked down to you?
No, you just misunderstood me
I deal with this issue constantly
then why not just help instead of 10 lines of nothing but complaining about what im asking about
I'm upset that people would tell someone else that they need to upgrade from a perfectly fine CPU...for problems that don't exist
so it wasnt towards me?
I literally said
"There is nothing wrong with your GPU' first line
Idk what you want bro.
Average port royal score for 4090 is 26k...that's being skewed by the top 100 results in the world being xOCers pushing the shit out of their card...your card is performing perfectly average...unless you can show some more data showing weird performance/behavior...that's all I really have.
no think i was just not understanding tbh, honest question here, im only using like i said around 30% of my gpu power while gaming
Are you in 1080p?
no 1440p
What titles? Or every title?
seeing around same results in game as a 4080 fe i was using while waiting for the 4090
the two games ive launched to test today were "squad" and "warzone"
Do you still have the 4080? Only way to tell is to actually run tests...4090 is likely just bottlenecked at 1440p and there isn't much you can do about it.
On average 4090 only does about 10% better. @ 1440p
im assuming i may just be bottlenecked by the 1440p ran a benchmark in game on the warzone title and it showed a 96% cpu bottle
So if you're seeing 60 fps with a 4080 you'll see 66 with a 4090 - very rough generality
Even if you were to go and drop 500 on a new CPU...the performance wouldn't be that much better honestly...4090 really is just overkill
alright makes sense, would upgrading to a 4k monitor to get more out of it make sense?
Yes, absolutely.
You'd at least get some sort of graphical fidelity boost out of your money rather than 10% fps that isn't really needed
Never trust a single source* check multiple sources/multiple titles
But as you can see...even a 13900k only sees about ~10-15% difference between them at all*
have any honest reviews on some 4k monitors, ive looked into some but never went above 2k
true
I'm not huge on peripherals, but when I look I normally go to HardwareUnboxed or
trying to remember the other
got it, ill look into them
I run my 4090 on a 1440p monitor
Usually I hit 100% usage with my 13600k. But it depends on the game
There’s definitely some games that are way more CPU limited. But they aren’t games that have any issues actually running at the framerate I want
Bitwit and a couple others I used to watch, but not sure about now.
1440p not 4k sorry
Warzone is also kind of a weird game
It’s very engine limited rather than really hardware performance. Which is weird for a competitive game but so be it
true imma try a couple games in my library and see what it is for those aswell
