You just need to connect the HDD via SATA and it should just work
Bet
my old SATA cable is from 2017 btw is that going to be a issue lmao
W
make sure you have both the SATA power cable and SATA Data cable
thank you my guy, yea I got both
so remove m.2 put hard drive in then boot then instal ssd?
wait what what?
no, remove whatever has your windows 11 install on it, so the mb doesnt get angry you have two windows installs
and then move the files off your windows 10 drive, onto whateve rother drive
and then reinstall windows 11 install
eerrrr put windows 11 drive back* dont actually have too reinstall windows..
wait so do I need another hard drive to move files to??
do..you only have 2? one with the windows 11 and one with the 10?
yeah the ssd has 11 the hard drive has 10
if so no? you can just put the 10 in, boot into the 10 drive if you want to change your boot order, and then move the files to the 11 drive its just...
some motherboards dont like that
oh okay I got u
it would be easier to take an external drive you could borrow from someone, slap the stuff on there
and then transfer back to the windows 11 when u are done
so you dont have to fight boot orders
or piss off the mb with said orders
Ight bet
were you able to get it?
okay sorry for the wait, I just finished setting it up, I’m able to access the hard drive just fine now. Right now I’m booting from the hard drive just to clear space and the only issue now is that the disk usage for the drive is at 100%. I’m not sure why this is happening.
its an ssd right?
maybe since its from an old system its not working properly
I have an ssd and now a hard drive plugged in. I went into bios and booted from the hard drive instead. Hopefully that’s not too confusing
could be from asus you think?
oh hard drive is probably just old then, hard drives can fail mechanically
the hard drive previously was used on a asus motherboard which installed programs ect but now I’m on a aorus
oh shit damn
not as common on ssd's
is running at 100% disk gonna be a bad thing you think?
like physically a picture of it? or software wise?
you can send it physically
Ight
lmao damn
but you could try
format?
what do you plan on doing wiht this old drive?
just having it as a access point for files to bring over to my ssd
access point?
i think it would be nice too to have it as a separate spot to install things to as well like things that don’t need to load as fast or a file dump
place to transfer files to and from
oh okay i wouldnt recommend it on that drive
ight
i would honestly just backup any important files before it fails
