Itâs perfect
Itâs her Estelle fangirl reflexes kicking in.
So she has suplexed the grandma before?
No it means sheâs suplexing Kai because she is an Estelle fan and Estelle hates Kai for beating her and that hate naturally extends to her fans
-# I donât think Estelle hate hates Kai but im simplifying their relationship to explain
Damn...
Did you watch Madagascar
itâs like this one scene
The iconic, âSugar honey iced teaâ scene
Honestly, i remember almost nothing from that movie
Where in context Alex reunites with his pal after they were stranded but remembers he was pissed at Morty so he starts chasing him
You donât need a lot of context the scenes would just play out similarly
I personally, would love to see Juliette and Kai lovingly running towards each otherâfollowed by Juliette preparing to dash him into oblivion and him running away
That would be very silly
Why didn't he just evade and become elusive, he could've easily avoided the dash punch
Great that youâve mentioned this
I am claiming this as being the first to headcanon that they all can just become elusive like ghost even outside of the ring
Imagine
Startling someone and they become clear
Transparent
And itâs just a normal thing in the osverse
they they
yeah itâs a bad habit I have of typing the same thing twice, my brain works weird
anyways
Surprise birthday parties would be so great
âSurpriseâ and the door entrance is empty thereâs no one there
And then a few seconds later âpopâ back into existence
You couldnât even hide being scared of something
Imagine movie theaters when a scary scene shows up and for a few seconds. It looks like all the seats are empty
Even cooler is that things go through you when youâre elusive so youâd also just fall through things
I imagine the osverse doesnât have roller coasters

Though Iâm assuming itâs more of a natural thing rather than intentional like in the game
immediately making this about Kai and Estelle do you think Estelle and Kai turned transparent the first time they reunited after Estelle lost? I know she left after losing but I think itâd be quite a shock to see an old rival take back the stage
But also
Being elusive must be a godsend to people who donât like physical contactâanyone tries to put an arm around you and theyâre just feeling air
Which makes it even better when someone who says they hate it doesnt go elusive (now in the context that they can control it) it means theyâre totally lying
Cough cough Kai pretending he hates how physical and close X and Juliette are with him but he never goes elusive
Wonder if not being able to be elusive is a condition that exist in the osverse like a gene that doesnât express itself
or being extremely elusive is a sign the gene is expressed too much
that would be cool too
Poor Drek'ar having to use space age technology to turn invisible only to find out everyone already could do it.

OhâI didnât even think of that
ether osverse is simply filled with more evolved beings or its the former where they canât do it on command and Drekars technology is the ability to do it at any times
However making it instead that drekars race is actually way behind the os verse would explain why no one seems to care that he literally came from space and isnât from their planetâand playing sports with them
maybe itâs just common
I mean when they have more pressing matters that canât be explained with technologyâlike Obscura or Juno it checks out
i think in drekars case it pulls from a different energy source
cuz like
he can go elusive as well
But he goes faster in his skill
Thatâs another possibility
itâs different but still very fun to think about
Security must be terrible though
What even would be the point of locked doors if people could just phase through walls

Me who wrote an entire dissertation on what a Xeno Cloak is

Yea "Elusive" as a concept is definitely a logistical nightmare if capable of being used as an actual ability by regular people.
Also could go terribly wrong if itâs not something that can be done on command but Iâm assuming it excludes things like walls and the floor just to make sense
They arenât 100% elusive but things phase through them
I never really thought of incorporating the specifics of it as a mechanic into the world, though the larger idea of "in-game Corestrike elements contrasted with outside functionality" is definitely something I've thought on.
Most notably characters with magical abilities and to what degree that have control of freedom over their utility.
Oh Iâm just a big fan of doing stuff like that
What they're allowed to use it for in the field of play vs everyday life
and why it's different
if at all
I reckon thereâs a lot more limits off the field and itâs sports like corestrike where they get to have those abilities enhanced
Because we know people like era are super valued outside of core strike (think back to Rasmus including her as one of his research subjects in he lab) thereâs a lot of ways to apply their abilities functions to tech but itâs more dangerous instead of era just being able to comfortably use her skill in the games
Maybe the more valuable/magical a person is the more careful they have to be in everyday life
I actually assumed the reverse. Magic individuals were always in my eyes presumably low enough in number that any sort of regulation on their abilities would be a tenuous moving against individual rights at best (this is a contentious topic regardless of the number). Whereas in the Corestrike field proper players would have their magic limited by regulations for player safety, fairness, or both. Either through rules and an honor system with penalties or actual technology to dampen magical effects.
Seeing as era was also bullied-called a âwitchâ it may not be as common to even have said abilities
Yeah and I like that idea a lot more too
Especially more more unique abilities
Still very nice to think everyone has a little somethingâeven if itâs just going ghost for a few seconds
I guess theyâd have to undergo some type of testing to differentiate if someone had significant powers or notâitâd be easy to chalk up a skill like Xâs as him just being a strong guy if they had no way to measure it
But yea, that line of questioning comes up when you have stuff like "Era shrunk her bullies to the point they became chibi could fit in the palm of her hand. So why isn't she doing that in a match?"
Is she stupid?
Not neccessarily, you just need a reason why she can't.
The game never provided us one, but that's why we're here
Well she still does shrink them but the comics make her abilities seem a lot more powerfulâand permanent and because we do have cooldowns on skills itâs pretty easy to make the transition into the notion that their skills and abilities are limited on the field to a certain extent
Like Kai shoots fire out of his hands and hasnât burned anyone yet
thereâs nothing permanent about the injuries besides getting knocked off the stage
And I mean Zentaro uses a literal sword
And slashes people
And Drekar with his gun
Some very obvious limits placed during the matches
that make lethal thingsânot lethal
Indeed there's a dire need for suspension of disbelief involved in the core gameplay. It's just a matter of how that's accounted for in the actual game universe.
Which is a really interesting question, because the existence of that technology and the question of if it's applied outside of Corestrike is a big deal.
It's also something that would unquestionably get political in-universe, because technology capable of controlling the potency or abilities of individuals without their consent in any capacity is uhhh... yea.

Trueâbut we know that where they are based in is very much huge on the whole core strike thing âathen city?â So perhaps rather than having limits on a wide scale this are is simply an exception because they hold the sports in that area
I reckon unless the government is highly corrupt thereâs no problem just making people sign consent forms or just having it be known that upon enteringâyour powers will be inhibited to some degree
Yea, I'm not trying to imply an outcome one way or the other. It's a larger question I have no idea how I'd even go about answering.
I'd assume technology like that being involved in a sporting event is very easy to make understandable via contracts for players/staff/arena audience
It's the matter of "if this technology is so effective why isn't someone trying to put it everywhere?"
That creates the complicated questions
To be fair it is a futuristic world it probably is to some capacity but it would be very interesting to have someone use it on a grander scaleâbecause it has some very dangerous but cool implications
Itâd be very easy to attack a city with everyone ooc and it could possibly have actually occurred at some point
But againânot anything weâll find out in the game itself unless their new one gives us more info which I doubt
Yea, grand scale worldbuilding would be sick, but is not something I have my hopes up on. Especially if Byte Breakers turns out to be the next Ody project as from what little I've heard on that game's narrative concept it's uhhh... Well I won't get into it.
It must be pretty hard however to actually block off abilities or at least costlyâif there was players could simply buy a machine to inhibit their opponents abilities
Iâm personally not following the development of any future endeavors from ody but I canât imagine theyâd focus on providing more story to their new game as much as trying to not make the same errors in their first game that made it fail so fast.
Itâs not really a priority to many except for a select few
I would howeverâappreciate it
My thoughts exactly.

In the meantime, I will simply have fun with having the creative freedom of imagining whatever I want to be canon until stated otherwise
-# (which again, probably wonât happen)
I do however hope they give us new description for the characters since they are the same, itâd feel lazy if their summaries were the exact same
Always nice to learn a bit more about a favorite character
Would love to learn specifics about what Zentaro went through on the road before he reached Ahten, or more about Drek'ar's society, or Estelle's previous team, or what business Finii's parents are actually involed in, or- yea you get the idea.
Unfortunately thatâs for us to ponder and for the ody team to never disclose
Anyways to wrap it all around so I'm technically on-topic again. I know I've probably talked about it before, but I love Juliette suffering through a midlife crisis perpetually in this relationship starting out.
Like the moment she realizes she's actually into Kai it drives her up the wall and she's all "Why did it have to be him?!"
Every time she sees him she wants to hug him and then strangle him and then hold his hand and then punch him in the face y'know?
To summarize: I love the idea that this goes both ways. The early stages of this relationship without a doubt had tons and tons of denial which is very cute to think about
Coming to terms with it mustâve been so painfulâJuliette must have felt like she was betraying Estelle so badly, and Kai mustâve felt like he was going against everything he said (but of course love prevails)
Huge fan of julikai being a very obvious parallel to Romeo and Juliette
Rejoice!
me ofc
nah, mako
