It still gets me that Era is 5’7 to Kai’s 5’10 and everything that isn’t the in-game models makes her a good head shorter than him.

Considering she wears platform heels that difference should be even smaller than you’d expect if not outright absent.

Era’s height will forever be an anomaly to me, but she also canonically has size magic so I suppose that comes with the territory.

Fair. I guess my thought on it is that her personality has a shy disposition while her style skews gothic. So presumably she would pick items that are gothic in nature, but still skew toward fitting with her personality. I just don’t see how heels do that.

Course the moment you ask the question “then why does Era wear heels?” You can come up with a fun answer.

Like say Kai got her heels for her birthday one year to try and help her build confidence, and of course she wears them because he got them for her, but it grows on her.

Idk just spitballing, maybe I’m overthinking an outfit very likely. I overthink everything.

Now to bring it back to the topic at hand, one of the little things I find fun about trying to write Era is her magic letting her in essence alter this dynamic whenever she wants. It’s a super unique trait, and fun to consider while writing. The caveat being it’s a difficult device to implement in a way that feels natural, or at least I’ve always had a lot of trouble whenever I’ve tried.

The specific scene this convo reminded me of was one I was drawing out where Estelle was essentially just trying to intimidate him, because even though he beat her she still sees him as a stuck up dumb kid.

The point of revelation for her that Kai has grown and she shouldn’t have taken him so lightly is when she gets up close and tries to stand over him only for him to say “nice heels”.

Which of course makes her realize she’s only taller because she’s in heels

And it’s like that nail in the coffin moment for her of “Oh my gosh is he actually better than me?”

He having worked his whole life for this, and her just coming back after a break and immediately lighting up the competition. (Of course she put in some hard work herself, but Kai isn’t exactly known for his ability to place himself in the shoes of others)
