I an Rank 1 + Rank 2 NA - AMA about climbing, the meta, or anything about OS in general
hey there
just a quick question, how much OS do you play in a day? and how do you manage to not get bored/tilted from playing
I played about 3 hours today (1.5 after lunch, then another 1.5 that I streamed before I got off my pc for the day). I usually average 2-3 hours a day the last week or two, but it was a lot more at the beginning of the month when I was practicing for the pro league invitational. Some days I don’t play at all, some days I play more. It depends also if there’s a tournament that day (tournaments last a LONG time)
I don’t get bored if games are competitive and fun, win or lose. I definitely can tilt. best way for me not to tilt is just complain out loud in the moment, but then try my best to leave whatever happened in the last game behind.
I don’t really get bored because the game has a super enjoyable loop and I love playing in tournaments with my friends
i see, thanks for your response
Any advice for demon dais? My friends and I always struggle on that map, and I think it’s in part due to not knowing how to position on it
What made you pick up OS? Was it a friend recommendation? Did you find it randomly on steam?
Also, any tips for getting out of high plat? Kinda hard stuck there
- How did the three of you (Bells and YAL) meet each other?
- So far you're unbeatable but do you think it's because you have superior skills over the other teams or is it simply trust and communication that you've built? The other teams seem to change the rooster quite often.
- Any universal advice for goalies? I know it's a broad topic, but maybe there are some rules that you apply no matter what goalie you play.
- Is Kai slowly shifting down in the pro meta? If so, why?
How did you get so good at dribbling? Did it just come natural from playing the game or did you do any specific kind of practice for it?
When you dribble, do you have to put a lot of focus onto the core, or are you able to just let your hands do the work automatically and have your full attention available for other things?
What role? Honestly it’s not being greedy with elusive and staying alive for the most part. Team that dies first loses. Use everything possible to keep the ball on their side, the team that loses their barrier first is at a huge disadvantage, much more than other maps
Backstory - I work for an esports program. In February 2022, Odyssey extended a playtest invite to their alpha to collegiate programs. I had been interested in the game before then as a big battlerite fan, so I jumped at the chance. Played ever since.
Tips for climbing is don’t hold on to your coreflip for the ‘perfect moment’. A lot of low Elo players just don’t use it fast enough. Another would be to hit it away from your opponents (crazy, I know). Depends on which role you’re trying to climb on
- Met through playing OS. Bells/YAL met when they were climbing when the started. I met Bells through playing inhouses back in beta. We just duo’d every day together for hours because we had so much fun and actually lost almost all of our games for weeks. It took a long time for us to build synergy.
- We definitely are beatable - we lost in ospl finals, bells and I lost NASL finals to YAL, and we drop games more often now. I think we’re exceptionally strong at passing and positioning, more so than other teams.
- I coach goalies on my stream @ twitch.tv/FirelightV. The most common advice I give is identify what their team sucks at (example -> 3 melee characters = no ranged abilities to intercept a pass from you) and then try to play in a way that takes advantage of that
- Kai is always going to be played goalie but in a damage focus meta Vyce and Aimi will be played more than him to help KO more. And there are zero kai forward players other than me in tournament so you’ll never see him picked there
I'm a flex player too. Do you queue as flex, or do you pick your role beforehand?
I feel like my queueing flex could make it harder to stay in the correct mindset for the role, but it also helps knowing how each role behaves. Any thoughts?
A long time ago in earlier playtests a player called Megaverse would do it as a goalie to stall out a possession. I started doing it in alpha playtests as a midfielder to bait forwards out of position and pass to my teammate. It’s definitely automatic at this point, but I would just do it every game. It’s actually much easier than people think if you’re playing wasd.
Depends on how I’m feeling. I queue goalie explicitly if I want to climb (goalie in soloQ at top ranks is easier to climb with if you can play the role well). I queue forward right now because I want to start practicing finii and have her ready for NASL season 2. I queue flex if I just want to find games faster, I really don’t care what role I get for climbing as I’ve hit rank 1 playing both
As a forward main I have 2 questions:
-
As a solo queue forward main, is it necessary to learn your characters as both an aggressive forward and a midfielder in order to climb? It felt too inconsistent to climb when I just played midfield and had to hope my teammates played aggressive forwards to have scoring pressure.
-
If you try learning another role, is it better to learn a new character that's good at that role or to learn a character you already play at that new role? Assume the character is good at the role you're good at but not the role you're looking to learn (like Era is a good midfielder but not a good goalie or aggressive forward).
If you’re playing scoring forward/brawler, your characters create space on their half to score (Zen/ X / Julie / etc). If you keep positioning too far from their goal you grief your team because your character is a lot weaker if you’re not in close proximity to their net.
If you’re midfield, just keep feeding your brawler the rock. You can solo carry the game by playing between midfield line and their net by always pushing the ball back into the net if they clear it. Their goalie will eventually lose a strike war / misplay/ get stunned.
When i learned goalie in beta I just spammed atlas. I had never played atlas before. Just pick a good goalie (I would recommend a melee goalie tbh) to learn the role with. If your goal is just to climb, dubu is the best goalie in the game to do it with
Hey Vaughn! No question in particular, but you frequently play with one of my favorite players, Bells! I just wanted to let you know I appreciate all that you do and for carrying him so hard in every tournament. The great thing about Omega Strikers is that, like a grandmasters game of bullet chess, there is little to no variance. The better player pretty much always comes out on top, and It’s such a pleasure being afforded the opportunity to watch you perform on the field. Regards, Requar.
amen, good ol GC Bells
I’m goalie, but I also wanna know where my forwards should be so I can try and help teach them.
As a goalie(Asher), how should I be positioning when someone gets knocked out on enemy team (3v2 our favor)?
I feel like I should be moving up the field and doing a lot more in those situations, but also don't want to take the risk of losing possession and a lock for it
What are Vyce's weaknesses and strengths? What kinds of counterplay are there specifically playing against her? I find when she's paired with Luna they put out a lot of damage and it's easy to run out of evades trying to avoid their AoE. Are there good answers? Ways to just keep the damage down? (I'm still somewhat new to the game and just got into plat)
idk how to answer this question really, sorry boss. super vague
walk up farther than you probably are. Take the risk to play for the goal, if you have goal gate up it 100% means you can take it
I'm only Platinum at the moment and I can Win most of the matchs but sometimes I play against people that's just focused on killing and I can't really get any pressure cause that. Do u have any hint to play against that?
I'm an Ai-mi player so I don't feel I can trade pressure damage against X, Luna and characters like that.
You good, thanks for the thread though, super nice place to try and learn some things!
Strengths = 10 million damage, tons of cc
Weaknesses = usually uses her abilities for damage, and her secondary has a pretty big windup. You can get the ball past her with multihits
If its vyce goalie she doesn't have draining wand so youc an stack stagger trainings. If its vyce forward and luna forward/goalie, their core control stinks so you just have to try to get the ball past them as much as possible
Is there a way to react to core flip, or is it all just a guessing game on when they’ll hit the core?
How did you design the SADBOIS emoticon? Also, how do you feel about helping putting COLIN into the game? I remember watching you play w/ lil bro in the Alpharad tourney lol
a guy i knew in college did it for me way back in 2019. Playing alpharivals was really fun, i enjoyed getting to know colin + yakko. I don't think we could've won if yakko wasn't the GOAT. We almost didn't make it out of our group because playing against YAL + Nemu's team was REALLY hard. All the others matches + finals were 3-0's and much easier for us. Getting an emote added to the game was the coolest prize I've ever won in an OS competition
spam hitboxes/mindgame, not exactly reactable
Ok, that’s good to know, thank you
Hello! What do you look at when you play the game? and does it differ between forward and goalie? I asked goomy and evildrewdanger this question and they both said they mostly look at the core, except for in moments where you get control of the core uncontested when you can widen your view to look out for midfield threats like juno blobs and long ranged abilities. I'm wondering if you agree with this, and I'm curious if this changes when playing forward.
2 different things
- Thoughts on Dubu forward? People always seem surprised when I play him
- How do you play when an enemy brawler straight up follows you 24/7 making it basically a 2v2 the whole time
I do agree with this. As you improve at the game, your focus will shift towards watching the core and tracking the opponents’ movement
- Pretty bad, but fun. He’s up there with Julie for the best stuffers in the game
- Elusive and use abilities to make space as best you can. For example - If you’re an Estelle and an X is on you, just save your TP until he starts ulting you. If you’re a brawler vs something like an Era - try to elusive her beam
What’s your opinion on Kai as a forward?
I've been having some trouble with my Ai.Mi goalie play lately. I'm in Gold rank at the moment, and I just can't seem to figure out the goalie positioning some of the time. Most of the goals on me are when I'm just out of reach of the core, or because I misread an angle of a shot. Do you have any advice on positioning to cover as much of the goal as possible, especially without abilities?
I'm about to hit 100 hours played (according to steam) and i have yet to even queue into a Competitive game. So far I'm 'maining' Vyse/Rasmus as a forward, and feel like i understand the basics and even a few more advanced mechanics/manuvers (even if my brain moves a bit faster than my fingers do more often than not). What can i do to overcome this weird fear of playing for rank, despite playing enough to be profile level 30?
Just make a Smurf if you’re worried about it, who cares just queue
very bad unless youre on Oni and then it's playable
get your eyes more focused on their characters/ball movement and try to track how they're going to hit it/move
It's an anime air hockey game why are you so concerned over if you lose ranked games
just press play its obvious you like the game
am I allowed to tell my irl friends I’m good at the game if im low Diamond?
yurr
Bruh what is your pfp + banner combo
She's a queen leae me alone😩 /s
💀
bring back shame
What's your favorite striker MVP theme?
I’m thinking about either trying to pick up Aimi (again) or Rasmus, who would you recommend I try out?
If this is still open
I just notice I pingpong a lot and have trouble clearing safely, I think part of it is from playing goalie in actual soccer/football (and the #1 rule as goalie is to never cross the goal, always push it out to the edges). I have played enough goalie in os that it's become second nature at this point and I know the problem I just don't know how to change what I do automatically. Any tips about general learning/changing bad habits? I feel like I've hit a wall recently and the only reason I can come up with is small mistakes like that.
What are your thoughts on number of characters to "main" when familiar with the game and characters, but still picking up strategy, hand skill, and instincts? If it's one or two, how do you deal with bans, poor awakenings, team comps, maps, etc.?
In line with the previous question, is it detrimental to play exclusively one character early on so that you aren’t familiar enough with others to effectively perform on them? Is there a certain point when it’s good to branch out or do you think by learning one character thoroughly it becomes easier to understand others later on?
Also, it'd be great to hear your take on which characters are strongest on which maps. If you don't have time for all, I'd particularly appreciate Atlas, X, Luna, and Vyce 🙂
This was fun to read but I already know I’ll be forgetting all of it in the span of the next 5 minutes :,)
I love the newest one in Finii’s, but otherwise I enjoy Aimi/Rune’s a lot
Whichever one you think looks more fun. That’s how I pick my charactwrs
Watch what top players do and try to figure out what is different. Ask someone better than you to watch you play, fresh eyes see things that you might be glossing over
Every single person that is a top player started the game by one-two tricking at most. An overwhelming majority of omega+ players can only pilot 1-2 champions at their ranked level.
Usually newer players will branch out after they’ve gotten a better handle on the game
Atlas is good on most maps. He struggles on Ahten. Demon dais usually revolves around damage so it’s not his best. He’s good on Oni/Aimi
X is much better on smaller maps or brawler favored maps like night market / Dais. He has no mobility and he’s slow. He’s terrible on ahten.
Luna - best on bigger maps. She is playable on almost every map, night market is probably her worst
Vyce - as goalie SS tier on everything except ahten and Oni. As a forward p much the same vibe, just better on smaller maps
Combined between my accounts + excluding afk/idle time I’d guess around 1200 hours. I started with the game back in the alpha test in feb 2022, so I’ve gotten lucky with more opportunity to play than the average player
What characters can play midfield? I’m thinking about switching from Kai forward
What are the biggest things that seperate a challenger from an Omega, and an Omega from a Pro league?
I am a forward player, in your opinion when you play X what you should focus on more scoring, ko-ing and about positioning cause he is a bit slow yes xD and sometimes can get kited pretty bad :D. Is it probably better to stay near the goal most of the time?I am almost level 10 X and I wanna become better. Also you are a great player ! I have watched you in several tournaments so far.
- What are the different goalie gear option good for?
- What would you pick on Asher goalie and what do you think about the pick?
- What about Rasmus? (Same as 2, gear and opinion)
- What are the main strength of Kai goalie
is there anything that can really be done in 2v3 situations, and how do you deal with burnout?
ex. other forward leaves
How do you not get burnt out Vaughn? I’ve been being pulled in every which direction lately by tourneys, ranked, and friends to play and it’s starting to feel like I’m playing just for the competitive sport instead of fun recently
Era Drek Vyce Luna Estelle Juno Rune Octavia are all valid options
Challenger -> omega = consistency in executing at their skill floor. Less basic mistakes
Omega -> challenger = knowing where to hit the ball and when better (clearing/passing angles as an example>
Generally best as X to almost exclusively stay on their half of the field. When I play X I focus on using my abilities to disrupt the goalie with my primary and ult to make it easier to take barriers/score. X struggles to finish kills but does consistent damage, so I focus on using my large hit boxes to create space in front of their goal while whittling down their Hp
- EB excellent for characters with strong secondaries that they can use to effect the map offensively - Vyce / Luna. Momentum useful for slower characters to move more quickly and for goalies to play as 3rd forward - Dubu. Pauldrons - niche but useful when enemy has heavy kill comps. Also BIS for Rasmus because it increases his size which increases his primary size. Strike shot is bugged and slower than it should be now, so it’s not currently taken on anyone in high Elo
- Asher - Boots or Pauldrons
- Pauldrons
- Versatility. Good defense with barrage. Solid mobility with dash. Good KO pressure with giga
Honestly in an even game not at all. I don’t really get burned out with the game. If I get tilted in soloq I just take a break
I’ve probably played in the most events of anyone since launch ( https://liquipedia.net/omegastrikers/Vaughn/Results this is my tournament history) and have hundreds of games of soloQ. I have fun competing so I don’t get burned out of tournaments. Bells (my teammate in all of them) and I are good friends so it’s always fun to compete together. I feel myself improving still each week I compete and chasing that high of being the best if I work REALLY hard makes it so I never truly get bored
For me I love the game so much and I don’t want to look back in a year on the time now and think “damn I wish I had entered more events/played more soloQ/ organized more inhouses when the game had those opportunities” because it simply just looks like the game’s competitive lifespan won’t last that long
So I never really get burnt out b/c I’m having fun now and cherishing the time I have with the game before the comp scene dies down and most people move on from it
That last part was kinda depressing
Please have faith in the game's longevity
I mainly play brawLER if my midfielder is not having as much core control as I expect Should I also play for core control OR stiLL trust them to get the core to me. In solo Q btw
..wait what does S.A.D.B.O.I.S even stand for?
which do u take more often if both ctl and chrono show up in the same draft as octavia
I think you always take Chrono, unless you already have 1-2 Haste awakens
Hey Vaughn, was watching your match against Core Underflow and the finii pick was nutty!
I'm intrigued to hear your thoughts on Finii goalie, do you think it has good potential? A good pick?
For sure a much stronger pick with good communication imagine :)

You get some lovely Goomy commentary too
Hey Vaughn I've been pretty hardstuck in mid diamond and feel like I've hit a plateau. I main aimi but am making an effort to improve with some other characters as well. Any tips to escape this cycle of hell that I'm stuck in?
he told me yesterday he thinks it’s troll goalie
Yeah it feels that way tbh, she has no real good defensive tools (thank you goomy bby loved the commentary <3)
🫶❣️ ty
Hey, what's the proper response to an enemy forward oki-ing my goalie? As the scoring forward at least if there is a proper response
How do I play x goalie
Hi Vaughn,do you memorize all of your opponent’s cooldowns when you play goalie?is there any tips on how to arrange your cooldowns?
Nah, I usually track the most important cd on each forward (estelle would be ult, for example)
I roughly know how long the cd is and I know I can clear more safely
Another example is knowing Julie dash is way longer cd (16?) than punch and if I see her use it I know I’m probably chillin if she starts dribbling off my bumper
What have you already tried doing to improve?
I think it’s lower tier but playable
Depends on context and other trainings
If enemy forward has no meter / your goalie is trading HP with them you can come back and KO them
I got some tips from Baumi and realized I was way too passive as aimi for my lack of trust in soloqueue. But now I feel much better and way more confident in my abilities. I hear you're pretty good at Zentaro tho so any Zentaro tips?
I don’t play Zen, I would find someone different to ask instead. I don’t think I could offer any meaningful, character-specific advice
Noted tyty
Hey Vaughn my love
does drekar, Estelle or aimi have more value playing goalie into no shove/ranged team
Playing dubu/Asher is not it and I haven't followed high elo NA to know
Hello best player ever Vaughn, I play pretty much exclusively goalie and also pretty much exclusively luna, but I see a lot of people saying that luna goalie isnt that great. I'm mid-plat right now (not hardstuck yet) and wondering if luna is such a bad pick that I should choose a better goalie like dubu or if I should just stick with the character I enjoy playing. Ty in advance for any advice uwu.
Would probably depend on awakenings and team comps but Aimi is the best of the 3 by default
You can hit any rank playing p much anything. Luna goalie is fine, it’s my 2nd (maybe 3rd right now not sure) most played goalie on my main. She’s quite powerful right now
You can hit any rank playing anything, but what about premades ? What about pro play ?
I ask this because on Overwatch, my favourite character is the hamster and he is barely played because he's not really team oriented. But in soloQ, even if he's not the greatest, he has so much potential for outplays that you could be quite the carry.
||I am not a good player but that's what I have understood||
So yeah in premades when I play my hamster I find it very hard to do stuff and my mates have hard times too.
So I was wondering, is it the same in this game ?
||I know I can still make it work in premades, but that requires a lot of time to be excellent on that character + people willing to play with that off-meta hero. ||
isnt dubu like top 3 goalies? i wouldnt exactly call him "off-meta"
would you be willing to make goalie and forward tier lists for all the characters vaughn? i know most are context dependent but it should be fine to rank them based on how consistently theyre good without having to rely on specific maps/matchups/awakenings
As you said tier-lists are flawed because they only represent the META at the moment. That's why making a video about it, allows us scrubs to better understand the characteristics of each striker and how they fit in the game
(works for every game)
Dubu is the easiest goalie to climb on to hit omega
At the tippy top ranks I do not consider him top tier/top 3/s tier
But the amount of dubu one tricks that got to omega spamming him is immense
He’s definitely the best low Elo goalie to climb on without a doubt
Honestly sure I’ll put something together why not
It’ll be completely outdated once the patch drops but hey we ball
yea thats the curse of character tier lists in games like this
also should probably clarify i meant the tier lists for top level play, not strictly for climbing
also quick question
Is Juliette bad at low level (people not being able to pass to me or not helping me for KO's), or do I suck ? (probably the second one)
I find ranged characters ultra easy and can control the ball and go for goals quite easily. But it's so hard with Juliette
no
evade button at low elo is dlc that nobody has purchased so dash punch solos
XD XD
Extremely quick and not thought-out top level forward tier list
Interesting S picks, I didn't know you'd put Asher so high
char does too much dmg, too tanky, never has unusable trainings in carousel + has combos when picked up wins her game on spots
uses health trainings + brawler trainings well, uses speed tranings well, uses CDR trainings too well, energy trainings on her = gg as well, she can even use creation trainings for ult + passive
Makes sense
goalies* again for people that look this is for high elo and I gave this about 2 minutes of thought. Also subject to change on next patch
Pretty premium to have a melee that can pick up creation+
ye
Do you have a blind guess for who's getting buffed/nerfed?
Things I think will be buffed (this does not reflect what I think should be adjusted, just what I expect odyssey to do):
Finii - She's hard for the average player so they'll make her cd's lower to let people spam more abilities b/c she's skillshot reliant
Juno - Worst char in game for multiple patches running
Base Stagger / Stagger Trainings - I think they've mentioned that they're looking at toning down lethality at some point?
Things I think will be nerfed:
Luna - Seems like she's overperforming, too much damage and CDR is starting to get out of hand for her.
Prime Time - I think they've mentioned this training multiple weeks now.
Momentum Boots - This has some insane pick rate. I don't know the stats but, if you're not playing an Eject Button character, this has some insane 90%+ pickrate at high elo.
Catalyst - Revert the change please 😦
Zentaro - Please.
I don't think many trainings need to be buffed. I think size trainings have been nerfed to an appropriate place.
Isn't the pickrate for moboots kinda due to strike shot also being bugged and pauldron being really niche though
Not that I disagree with it being extremely solid
its too good
you get almost 700 ms
from it and a single movement spell or another speed training
they should reduce the total speed it gives I'm p sure
thanks for the tier lists and follow up
i assume the list you found didnt have finii in it? where would you place her
im guessing a forward b goalie
Are the characters ordered in the tiers?
I'm kind of surprised to see Ai.Mi in S tier for forward - I feel like the general opinion I've seen is that she doesn't bring much to the table (as a forward) compared to other meta picks at a high elo. Why do you think she's still in S tier (and how much of it is turret lol)?
what do u consider bis awakenings for rasmus goalie? he can pick so many different items
in regards to forwards, why is Kai considered a C and Drek considered an A, like is there any differences to their positioning or playstyles that place Drek in such a dominant position over Kai (especially since Drek'kar's kit on paper seems worse, with his invisiblity and speed going away upon an action, him not being able to move when doing primary, and Ult not being able to instantly delete people who stray too close to the edge)
What makes some of these goalies as good as they are, such as Rasmus above Asher and Estelle?
I may just have to play Rasmus if he's that good
Also Atlas in particular, is it mostly because of ult in KO meta or does it have to do more with primary/secondary?
surprised to see rasmus higher as goalie than forward (assuming BiS). what's the reasoning behind that? (asking because i dont play him as goalie)
Hey Vaughn!
Any drek tips?
I watch you and your playstyle with him a bit and I try to emulate it, but I still don’t really think I get it…
Edit: what does BIS mean in the tierlist?
BIS = best in slot
Yes
Almost all of it is turret, but otherwise good at confirming kills and has training versatility
Size, Prime Time, Damage
Kai has zero utility and only has only seen success on Oni Village. Drekar can fit multiple roles in a comp and is stronger on more maps
ty!
At absolute top levels of play goalies with Rasmus can output tons of damage and has very easy kill confirms. Goalies can get away with using abilities like this because the top pro league goalies are good at positioning and using strikes to clear things that lesser skilled players would struggle with
Atlas is a melee character that doesn’t struggle against being sat on in the box, his abilities are 100% anti stuff success rate, and his ult is incredibly useful against teams that need to KO as their wincon
Drek is just entirely fundamentals. Historically, Diamond and below drek players struggle because success on that character literally boils down to spacing for his primary and knowing where to hit the ball at certain times
I’m not really sure how to give generalized tips for him though, sorry
Hey Vaughn, currently I'm a high gold player somehow consistently facing mid-high plat, occasionally diamond players.
As a goalie, how do you face opponents that sets up and push the core through you with abilities? Also how do you deal with melee characters like Asher that plays really, really close to you and just shove the core through you?
You see, the ball was actually played in OW1 where everyone was mad abt a shield meta. But in OW2 they removed shield "meta" in exchange for removing chars like hamster.
Yeah I hate OW devs
Shield meta wasn't played in every map, different tanks were played in different maps
But OW2 you got the same 3 tanks in every map
because the majority of them are ungodly unusable
First impressions on Kazan?
Well most of the time you had the same comps played over and over anyway, even in OW2
But at the lower levels, it felt like you could play anything
While now, it feels way more oppressive not playing the "good" tanks or playing around counters like sombra
what the hell is BIS, I don't get it
Best In Slot. Means its usually their best Awakening choice
i still don't get it
referring to the list
Does it mean if these 3 get their best awakenings ( which ones are they?) they are S and if not then A?
Probably A tier without BIS yeah
To use Octavia as an example if the starting awakening is something like chronoboost she's instantly very scary
I think Yokie's doc is still updated on what awakening each striker wants most
do you have the source?
lol u predicted a lot of these correctly
I haven't checked the patch but most of this should hold up

Hi Vaughn, would you consider Era or Ai.mi better as a forward/midfielder? Do you know the stats on how often they're picked?
He made a pre season 2 tierlist, and considering both those characters didn’t get changed it looks like ai.mi is better
do you have a link to where i can find it?
right here

Np!!
Hallo! is fini worth learning for goalie? i heard she was played in a few high level matches but wasnt sure if it was more of a niche thing
Hi Vaughn! I just wanted to ask if you knew how the awakening order is picked. If it is based on redirects, goals, saves, overall performance or other factors.
& here's how exp is calculated if you need it https://omegastrikers.wiki.gg/wiki/Experience
ah okay tysm! was just curious
ofc
Hey Vaughn, long time viewer, first time writer. I gotta admit, I was surprised to see the love for Asher in your responses. I've been thinking about picking her up, and I'm curious if you could give me your top tips of what combos and mechanics to practice that make her so worthwhile. Thanks!
I'm sorry I can't help you. Despite being a long time viewer, I cannot stand to help encourage one single additional player to play asher right now. Disturbingly cringe character. You will have to seek that knowledge elsewhere
She's pretty bugged right now, I wouldn't bother unless you just enjoy her that much
Thank you Vaughn!
🗣️ vaughn spitting
asher nerf that actually does something meaningful against forward asher never
RIP, but thank you! Guess I'll return to my degenerate X ways
No your so close to greatness become an Asher main
I don't wanna be cringe

@wet geyser for people who play a few characters, how much influence does the map have on character selection? I know you spoke to maps a bit earlier specific to X, Vyce, Atlas, and Luna, but it might be good to get something a little more general and/or incorporate the new maps into the discussion. 🙂
how the hell do you pronounce your name vaughn
vorn
Vayuun
/vɔːn/ like lawn with v
"vaa backwards c, colon n"
Hello! I have a question about goalie climbing strategy vs tournament play. Last season I managed to climb to challenger by picking momentum boots dubu, getting close to my screen, hyper focusing on the core, and doing everything I could to keep the ball on the enemy half of the map, sometimes extending past the midfield line to score goals or get a shot to my forward in scoring position. However this hasn’t worked well for me in tourney play, and I have adapted my playstyle to be more defensive and focused on patience and accuracy of passes to my forwards. However, this style hasn’t worked for climbing, and I suspect it might not work at high level tournament play either. What is your take on how aggressive the goalie should be, and do you have different play styles for ranked vs tournament?
I'm surprised to see Asher praise and even disdain. Is it just cuz she scales well or is she just really good at beating goalies?
She's a super one dimensional character
how many forms does kazan have
2
thanks boss
what song u putting on when u need to lock in
That Oni village game was the dubu song
If I really truly need to lock in during an S tier the final secret answer is complete silence

Can you make a tierlist for strikers in the current meta, counting all played maps, if possible
(High elo or tourney level)
please mister rank one man, tell me why I am hardstuck high gold. I refuse to provide context I am Juli main I like get points and violence.
I have a friend who's about to start his os journey. However, he wants to play goalie and I've never played a game as goalie.
Outside of literal basics like not ping ponging, use core flip, what's some other things I can give him as tips as a brand new goalie?
Don't spam spread out when your midfield helps you defend
Are there any general tips that one would have to improve luna goalie, as I strugle to being offensive with her, and on what map is she discouraged?
oh sorry i don't check maincord too much and didnt realize people were in this thread
i would advise just straight up playing the game. When you're new to anything information overload is real and won't really help him improve
the things you already mentioned are good enough
maps that take advantage of her unique ability to get across the entire field are usually better for her. No other goalie can click a button and go box to box as easily as her. Biggest tip that I give luna goalies is something i call ability hygiene. against a lot of brawlers you need your primary to clear virtually anything, but luna's will waste it for attempted damage or when they can fly in with their secondary. Ask yourself before you primary if the damage you're applying is relevant rn (maybe your teammates are staggered and cant finish a kill or octavia has flowstate and is approaching your barriers) and save your primary to hitstun the brawler as they attempt to dribble the ball to you/convert
easiest way i find to play luna goalie is just to hitstun whoever is attempting the offense before they even step into the box and simply kicking the ball away when it rolls to me
otherwise strike primary strike gives you a way to beat things like estelle blink + ult ever since the strike reset patch

every single clear for every map 🤑
sdo you play strike on left click or on right click
besides bestieinslot where can i find more vods of high level gameplay
eusl is the tier 1 eu equivalent which you could watch their matches on their twitch on saturdays. idk if they upload them to yt like bestie does tho
Thanks big dog
Tyyyy
please tell me why high elo hates strike shot suddenly
upcoming patch
:)
Many people are tired of the sameness of matches as melee goalies + strike shot have dominated top level play for ~6 months(?) not sure on the exact length
Takes away one of the bigger weaknesses of picks like Atlas by giving him range to influence the map in midfield
I’m not sure if I would say “suddenly”, but it’s definitely fatigue from how the meta drags on long games and it feels like a necessity to pick lockdown goalies
I do not mind strike shot myself but think a patch would be welcome to shake something up as I echo that melee goalies feel op
seems like a skill issue tbh
Ok
like isnt the whole point of goalie awakenings to either cover weaknesses or boost strengths
and if thats true then why is it overpowered in the meta for doing its job
beacuse weaknesses are a good thing
fair
do you have any replays on jules ?
im a diamond stuck in gold what do i do
Are you a wedding ring
nuh uh
@sudden horizon I'll ping you in a few useful threads.
