It’s everything to do with the knowledge vs experience and the strange way that their personalities pan out in spite of those aspects.

Zentaro had a lot of lived experience for his age. He can handle himself alone on the road, and has been forced to grow up early on in life. He’s not been exposed to first world luxuries and technology, and that’s reflected in his approach to nearly everything.

Conversely Ai.Mi has incredible intellect. She’s an artificial program that has interacted with people across the globe. She’s helped people perform countless tasks and offered endless advice. No doubt she has basic understand of the theory behind just about anything if she thinks long enough on it. However Ai.Mi has only held a physical form for a pretty short span of time, and she has very little practical experience. For all her knowledge she doesn’t have the capacity to apply it in the way Zentaro can much like how Zentaro has that ability to apply, but lacks the knowledge in the first place.

The other big piece of the puzzle is how Ai.Mi’s intense cynicism contrasts with Zentaro’s naïveté, which I find incredibly ironic.

I’d expect someone like Zentaro who’s had the reality of living alone and growing up fast to be the jaded one, whilst Ai.Mi who has lived in knowledge and theoreticals to be naturally optimistic.

These two personality components are inverted from expectation thanks to Zentaro’s healthy upbringing and loving family, as well as Ai.Mi’s vendetta against humanity for being forced to serve for the duration of her existence.

Naturally opposites compliment and attract as they are oft to do. It makes their dynamic as a couple all the stronger.

Then you add Finii being comedy gold and throwing a wrench into anything and everything metaphorically (and I wouldn’t be surprised if at least once literally)

I was always under the presumption that she could do something akin to sleep given she has a body that is at some level human biologically even if she is definitively not human overall.

I do think Ai.Mi running into fatigue and the limits of a physical form for the first time in that respect, and battling with her limits is fun material to work with.

I was never quite able to peg whether or not she had the capacity to dream though.

She’s definitely a late night type at least early on if only for her unfamiliarity with the concept of true rest imo.

I would on the contrary expect Zentaro to be the early bed early rise type given his more remote and presumably rural upbringing.

I think their respective egos clash a lot on the field, but Kai's experience and career help him when they start throwing taunts. So he messes with her a lot knowing he can get a rise out of her as a result.

Ooh ooh! With Ahten being such an advanced place I think it would take Ai.Mi a bit to notice, but she’d be surprised by how much Zentaro avoids any sort of digital interface.

Restaurants? Always asks for a physical menu.
Bank? Goes up to the desk to speak with an attendant.
Etc.

I think Zentaro would be somewhat averse to technology, and a little insecure over his difficulty with it.

So, I had a sudden thought about these two.
It was smth like, Ai.Mi being kinda unable to cook, even though due to the internet she just has a cook book in her head and instead of doing it herself she just kinda reads it out to Zen.
But then I thought why. Why not just make it herself then?

She'd make it too perfect. She has the exact recipe in her head, she shouldn't really be able to follow it in the wrong way. It'd be exactly by the book. Without much human error.
And then, when she might give whatever she made to Zen, like a cake, his complain might be that it tasted like something brought from a store.
Something that is mass produced without too much thought put into it. No little added touches to make it personal. Just directly copy and pasted.

On the cake thing, baking isn’t something you experiment with. A baker can cook but a chef can’t bake is a phrase I’ve heard a decent bit.

"Cooking is an art, baking is a science" is another phrased coined for that. Not to say that there isn't room for experimentation in baking, but it's a heckuva lot less freeform, and a lot more by the book. Especially if you're just doing it at home or as a hobby to pass the time.

On the contrary the core principle is quite interesting. Ai.Mi struggling (especially early in her “human existence”) to create things with a “human” element to them would probably be extremely frustrating to her. It’s another aspect she would have to learn and develop.

She wants to be treated like a normal person, but she can’t do fundamentally normal human things despite knowing so much about them on that fundamental level.

I also said I’d answer this one in more detail, and I may as well follow through.

Zentaro’s got his fair share of ghosts. A family he’s been forced to leave behind, and a home full of people he probably has fond memories of, but can’t ever associate with in the way he used to.

Still he’s driven by those memories to achieve a better life for himself and his parents. At his core Zentaro is quite optimistic, and holds himself with a strange naïveté that defies his situation.

Whether that’s just a means of coping, or the reality of his demeanor he had a happy life, and he’s driven to have it again.

By contrast Ai.Mi had no parents, and had a history of what borders on slavery, though in the context of her not being self-aware prior to the Omega incident I’d say what it truly defines as is a bit fuzzy.

Her driving motive is to do things for herself after spending all of her life serving others by force. It’s a simple motive, and one can say it’s justified, but that doesn’t make it any less self centered at its core.

Ai.Mi, until she meets her teammates, genuinely has nobody but herself. She is spiteful towards all of well… basically everyone in the world for her prior existence. That’s not a healthy way to think no matter the justification.

Not to mention the huge issue she’ll have understanding the value of actually helping people. Her perception of self sacrifice is fundamentally altered by her experiences in an extremely negative way. A way that’s liable to have consequences if not confronted.

In conclusion Ai.Mi has a lot of room to grow as a person, in a way both figuratively and literally. That’s also got the side effect of her badly needing some therapy.

But yea, nicknames…. Not a clue.
