Basically got the Microcenter AMD bundle with 32gb ram and mobo, and I'm looking at GPU options but I don't know what would and wouldn't be a bottleneck for the CPU or GPU. Also I plan to use this PC for simracing with 3 1080p monitors.

This is what I was looking at and I have some of the stuff already, really just need a good GPU choice under $700 hopefully.

SSD price is insane

Why are you looking at a last-gen 7900XT? 9070XT is exactly $700 right now

low drift
#

9070XT or 5070Ti would be good around that price range

graceful chasm
#

5070Ti is like $800+ at this point unless MC has some crazy deal

low drift
#

I thought there were still some at Best Buy for MSRP

lament wing
#

but I was also looking at the 9070XT and 3080ti, I did just see the 5070ti is pretty good too for the price

#

also yea I wish I was building a PC a few months ago but it is what it is lol, I got ddr5 half off today so I'm happy I didn't pay $200+

low drift
#

The 4GB extra from the 7900XT is probably not worth it compared to just getting one of the 16GB cards with better performance

lament wing
#

okay so ideally a 9070xt or 5070ti?

graceful chasm
#

Two different price tiers, just depends how much you want to spend

stone flume
#

$750

#

$600

#

both are similar in performance so research which plays better with your racing sim, and choose that one. if they perform similar for your application, it makes sense to save cash

lament wing
#

From what I saw online the 9070xt is better in all the games i intend to use it for while the 5070ti is better in like black myth wukong but not my goal so 9070xt it is

#

Thanks

lament wing
#

hmm I've been looking at prices and the 7900XT is $210 cheaper at microcenter for 530. Is the 9070xt worth the $200 difference? I'm only really using it for simracing with 3 1080p monitors (which I might upgrade to 1440p later on)

#

nevermind I missed a 9070xt that's actually $70 more. I'll think about it, I dunno if the 7900xt is enough or if its overkill to go for 9070xt, I just wanna save money lol.

graceful chasm
#

The 9070XT isn’t even really more efficient and the 7900XT has more VRAM and performs within a few percent

#

Even at $70 difference I’d probably still pick a 7900XT

graceful chasm
#

Just make sure if your model only has 2 8-pins for either card that they’re off of separate cables, standard gauge daisychained cables are only good for ~288W

hmm if all sales end should/could I consider a 9060xt?

#

or a regular 9070

wind pilot
#

guys i have the same Bundle

#

i am very struggling whether to get 9070xt for 599$ or stay in Nvidia environment for paying 5070RTX for 499$

graceful chasm
wind pilot
#

you know every opininons matters parts still in boxes xD

#

sstill waiting for PSU to arrive xD

lament wing
#

best value rn unless you get a cheap 5070ti

#

for me i may cut down on my gpu budget so 7900xt, 3080ti or 9060xt

lament wing
#

is 850W enough for this?

#

or should I look for more

thin gale
lament wing
#

okok just making sure

#

saw some people going crazy 4 digit power supplies

wind pilot
#

why its so expensive ?

#

@lament wing you went with crazy SSD price and PSU when you could upgrade GPU to a newer generation

lament wing
#

i need 2tb

#

oh wait i have the 1tb there

#

idk why

wind pilot
#

yeah its 199$ for 1 tb

lament wing
#

and i like evga and id rather go reliable psu than better gpu

wind pilot
#

we have pretty the same setup

lament wing
#

yea but i want evga lmao i like my evga gpu a lot but wont get evga gpu for the 2nd one since i cant afford it

wind pilot
#

you do you )

#

if you still considering to buy Case and PSU

lament wing
#

i already got a case

wind pilot
lament wing
#

I got a 5000d sitting empty next to my simrig lol

#

also i like that ssd cause it has its own ram or whatever

#

dram i think?

#

so its a slight performance increase when playing games

#

and i trust evga since my crappy gpu from 6 years ago from them has been running every game on medium at least (or max if its not intensive) and I havent touched my pc at all since i got it

wind pilot
#

why you went with 7900?

lament wing
#

microcenter has a deal for $530

#

which for the price its the best gpu i can get unless i get a 5070 maybe

wind pilot
#

you could get 9070 non xt 499$ or 5070$ or adding 70$ would get you 9070xt

#

still newer generation )

lament wing
#

non xt is slower than 7900 xt no?

#

9070 xt is better for sure

#

but the cheapest one is $600

#

i can only think of the 5070 beating the 7900xt for the price

#

if it goes off sale then i might just go 5070 or even a 3080 ti

#

there is a refurbished 3080 ti for 440

#

so i can save more and still have more than enough gpu performance for my needs

wind pilot
#

if my budget was +500$ ish

#

i would just buy RTX 5070

lament wing
#

yea thats what im thinking too

#

but i like the 7900 xt performances in simracing games

wind pilot
#

i see

#

okay

#

maybe you dont need RTX environment for sim

lament wing
#

yea not as much

#

also

#

8gb more vram while its only slightly (very slightly) less performance

#

and if I ever go up to 1440p triple monitors from the triple 1080 I will need that extra vram probably

wind pilot
#

i was also debating whether to return 9070xt and get 5070xt xD

lament wing
#

yeah haha i mean

#

i would do this:
5070 ti > 9070 xt > 5070

#

if we talk non sale price

wind pilot
#

if 5070ti was around 670 or less

#

i would insta buy

lament wing
#

yeah same

#

well

#

still gotta stretch my budget then but still lmao

wind pilot
#

initially my budget was also low

#

but since i got 7800x3d deal from microcenter i decided to also get better GPU

lament wing
#

yeah same

#

my original idea was a 3080ti

#

since those hover around 400

#

but the microcenter bundle put some extra money in my pocket lol

wind pilot
#

399$ 5060ti

lament wing
#

and also the option to not bottleneck my gpu with a worse cpu

lament wing
wind pilot
#

i guss they are same

#

its how many gens passed

lament wing
#

its mostly better only very niche things are better in the 5060ti

#

i mean 3080 ti is a top tier card from what 2022?

#

5060ti is entry level just newer gen

#

its like would you rather have a 2005 porsche 911 gt3 or a 2026 porsche 911 gts

lament wing
thin gale
#

userbenchmark

#

no

lament wing
#

ah

#

still

#

everywhere it says 3080 ti beats the 5060 ti

#

i know its older and wont have support for as long as 5060 ti but

#

performance is there

thin gale
#

yes, the 3080ti is still ~20% ahead of the 5060ti16 in 1440p gaming

#

however, if youre using upscaling the gap shrinks

lament wing
#

okay nice so i can just have the 3080 ti as a backup option then if the one 3080 ti sell at microcenter they have a 3080 for cheaper but then i may look for a 5070 (just cause of value im putting it behind)

lament wing
thin gale
#

the same as it would work with any other monitor setup

lament wing
#

i meant i have no idea how it works :D

wind pilot
#

bruh 9070xt so up high

lament wing
#

yeah i wish I could get it but i dont have a need for that much more over the $200 cheaper option

#

def the one id get if I had unlimited budget for the rest of my build

lament wing
#

$1000 for me :(

#

ooo an evga 3080 ti would be so nice but its 100 more than the asus tuf 3080 ti at microcenter

thin gale
#

i would not buy a used gpu from newegg

lament wing
#

okay okay ill keep that in mind

#

3080 ti from microcenter only if it falls to that plan

lament wing
#

Alright bought the 7900 xt open box and on sale for $480

lament wing
#

I bought a MC 7 7800x3d bundle and 7900xt, now I'm looking for a decent PSU and SSD

graceful chasm
#

PSU just get whatever good 850W for $90 is available like the Montech Century or ASRock Steel Legend

lament wing
#

hmm okay

#

is it not worth getting the corsair one on sale? supposedly its A/A+ tier

lament wing
#

rm850

#

i think is what its called?

graceful chasm
thin gale
#

the only thing i see is the rm750x shift in white for $80

#

which is a solid deal

#

750w is fine for this build

lament wing
#

you think so?

#

i heard amd and the 7900xt has some power spikes or whatever

#

and people said have a 200w clearance at least

thin gale
#

but they arent that bad on the 7900xt anyway

lament wing
#

okay okay

#

ill try and grab it this weekend

lament wing
