#Unique Item ID

We now have unique player IDs to prevent scammers name changing after a scam.

However, another problem is that the stolen items can't be uniquely identified since scammers reroll the stats.

It would be nice if both gear, weapons and shield all have a unique ID that is visible to everyone who views the item that is linked.

That way, players could know if they're dealing with a scammed item.

Credits to @tall crest for the idea.

This is pretty good, but I'm not sure how feasible this would be. Perhaps they might do it for ultimate weapons only? Or ultimate + rare.

But if they try it on all items, I wonder if that will be difficult. It might be all the same, I wouldn't know. I'm just thinking of the millions of items that would need to receive identifiers. But there's only so many reds and ultimate items. So this is still a very good idea.

In fwc2 I ran wilds with a group and we had a Lusaka wand drop. It was close to the end, and sure maybe they couldn't find a buyer, but they probably just decided they didn't care about splitting loot with us. There's never really been a good method for loot splitting other than honor codes and exclusion of bad actors. Maybe one day the devs will give that some thought as well.

Those unique item IDs already exist, they just aren't visible to non-GM's, they have been visible in some dev screenshots before

They are already doing so much to prevent scams..

If you want to use SL boxes from other Players, you have to fear of getting scammed.
You have multiple options
a) dont buy SL scrolls and buy from Cash Shop
b) get collateral ..

What would that unique ID help in preventing scams? If a „scammer“ gets an item and he/she cant Sell it.. he/she can delete the item as well. GMs said multiple times that they dont restore anything anymore.

The unique id helps devs/gms to prevent duping.

Yes there’s always a risk and it might mitigate scamming a little bit in the sense that you can’t easily resell it. Sure people will still scam and just hold it for themselves or hold onto it for months and then resell later when everyone forgot about it, but at least we might know when we’re dealing with scammed items. It would at least prevent the scammers making money out of this to some limited extent.

huge plus one on this suggestion. Every single thing in this game has an unique ID so its actually VERY easy for devs to even track anything here. They just have to implement a graphana to log for the important items.

It's super feasible, because each item already has a unique ID, you just can't see it in the UI. In fact, they could show this unique ID for each non-stackable item in the tooltip when hovering the item in the inventory. Then you always see it when you show off the stats of the item.

It would prevent the scammer from making much money off the the stolen good, because most people who can afford those end game weapons are connected on Discord. Nobody likes scammers and thus the scammer needs to resort to the black market where it gets bought by some scumbag for less than half of its value. It would ruin the incentive to scam. Obviously, it wouldn't change a scammer from having a scammer narrative, but it would still reduce scams.

I appreciate your incentinve in goods will of people but seeing the whole community it won't happen.

Let's say Butcher Carnage gets somehow scammed with market value 14b. No collateral.
To sell it fast as a scammer, he/she could sell it for 1.4b ("accidentaly" forgetting a 0 in private shop).

Now the question.. Would you check all possible communities for a potential scam?
Next rotation. If now someone who bought it for 1.4b sell it for 12b.
Would you call that guy who bought it for 1.4b scammer?

If you would call that 1.4b buyer a scammer... Then ALL the people should be called scammers who bought perfect pets for sacrifice pet prices.

The unique ID at the end wouldn't help in either scenario. Scammers still scam and won't stop. They will always have a path to scam and sell items.

I agree that its benefit isn't ground breaking, but at the very least it lowers the sell potential to some extend and for devs it should be fairly easy and quick to implement, so it shouldn't hurt at all. And no, I wouldn't call the person who bought it for 1.4b a scammer when not knowing that this is a scammed item. If knowing though, the person would be contributing to the problem, but this is an entirely different debate that feels beyond the scope of this suggestion tbh.

One downside i can see is players getting harassed after having (unknowingly or not, irrelevant) bought a scammed item.
In an ideal world this is a great idea but knowing how people can be i cant say i like it.
