Summary: In Forsaken Tower 7F, pointing the camera at the horizon causes massive FPS drops
Server: Any
Character: Any
Position: 7F
Visual proof: Attached:

  • Screenshot 1: Looking at the horizon and suffering from a massive FPS drop
  • Screenshot 2: Not looking at the horizon and enjoying smooth 144 FPS ||yes I know that the game doesn't actually support 144 FPS||
  • Screenshot 3: Staring at the purple effect embedded into the ground and enjoying smooth 144 FPS
  • Screenshot 4: Staring at two waterfalls/barriers and my FPS drops but not as hard as in screenshot 1
Expected result: Good FPS (preferably stable 60+)
    Actual result: Bad FPS (30ish)
    Additional comments:
It seems like the blue-purple magic barrier/waterfall effect that is positioned at multiple locations causes the drop. When staring at one/two barriers/waterfalls my FPS drops from stable 144 to unstable 70-80ish. Looking at the horizon causes the FPS to further drop to unstable 25-35.
The purple effect embedded into the ground does not seem to cause FPS drops.
This also happens when special effects are turned OFF

My PC is built with Ryzen 9 5950x & RTX 3080Ti so it likely isn't the source of the problem and this might be a case similar to the old sandstorm effect.

I have this issue nearly everywhere in the game, since I have special effects enabled. I can't tell for sure, but it feels like it got worse everywhere since the last update. I suspect something on the special effects system has changed and only those with lower FPS in general notice immediately.
