The beauty of the game was to start a character, gear and level up, and have joy with many years to come. I refused FWC, because why would I let my main die out just to start over? It just feels wrong. I have an emotional connection to my main, I didn't sign up for a 5 month battle royal with 7 months of lobby time, I signed up for an immersive MMORPG. The game in fact drifts away from its glory roots that made it what it is, an excellent classic.

May as well play next fwc

Essentially, yes. May as well pack it up next week. Either come back in 7 months for the next fwc or retire

Main servers need advantages during FWC

I really thought that the 2x events for three weekends were promising, but at the end it was just a one time thing and afterwards main servers were left in the dust.

Just to play devil's advocate, I don't think FWC is a bad idea.

  • It gives new players a chance to catch up to people who have been playing for awhile
  • It gives the developers a chance to work on more content
  • It keeps revenue coming in (sorry this is a business that needs money to run)
  • It also gives them a place to experiment with systems without making them permanently in the game
  • Seeing all the people, from across all servers, is really cool

me personally, I really enjoyed competing with 3-5 other vagrants for the same mob immediately after spawn on day one. Lol

FWC has it's merit. I didn't get the most out of the last one, and I put more time into this one. Overall it's unfortunate that it kills main servers. If they do fwc again after increasing the level cap, they need like 3x exp, otherwise no one will ever hit max. If the drop rates for end game gear weren't so messed up, more people would feel like getting there is worth it. Even on fwc, the drop rates for uniques are way too low.

I do agree that FWC has its place but it's maybe a bit long. Maybe 4 months would be enough instead of half the year. That would give the normal servers more validity.

And of course the regular severs could use some love because the drop rates of 150 gear and exp rates past 140 are just extremely low.

Same for ultimate upgrade rates, it's close to impossible to +5 an ultimate weapon on a normal server.

They need to make FWC a choice and not an obligation, for all the benefits that have been said above.

In this case, it will be necessary to offer the main servers compensation, at the rate level, with exclusive rewards that only players who play on normal servers can obtain! And stop putting more interesting stuff on FWC than on normal servers, it's stupid, the opposite should happen.

To counter your point,
• Most of the FWC players are returnees or players from the main server who don’t want to miss out on the benefits of FWC. While there may be some genuinely new players interested in joining, they often find it difficult to keep up and are likely to quit once they experience the regular rates after transferring.
• Even without FWC, the developers could have focused more on creating content with longevity in mind. However, by relying on FWC for half of the year, they have become complacent, opting for quick releases instead of developing updates that could sustain player engagement for a longer period.
• It's true that they need revenue, but this seems to lead to a cycle where they prioritize easy cash grabs like FWC. As a result, the main server suffers from a lack of content, which further illustrates that FWC does not incentivize developers to create more substantial updates; instead, it leads to the opposite effect.
• Regarding experimentation, I haven’t seen experiment in the FWC 2023 server. The only additions were the golden equipment and PvE and PvP competitions, for which they solicited feedback but then ignored it for FWC 2024.
• Lastly, while playing with others from around the world can be exciting, but we also can’t overlook the high ping issues due to the server locations.

I personally love FWC and prefer it over the main servers but I do think they're moving in the right direction. FWC for vertical progression then main servers for horizontal progression, that's the sweet spot. I do think that FWC lasts a bit too long though but it's definitely the thing I'm most excited about in Flyff, racing to high levels is extremely fun

one big patch a year is considered a quick release?
