AOE Blade beginner build

So you wanna be an AOE blade? the first thing you need to do is rush to level 65 by doing legendary redmantis quest, reonan quest and darkon office quest. once you're level 65, max the blade dance skill because this will be your main skill till endgame.

The equipments you're going to need are:

Recorn/Rescorn set : this set is a good starter set as you go through your journey of becoming the best AOE blade as it has Max FP to sustain your blade dance FP needs, Max HP to increase your lures and def to reduce monster damage you take.

Guardian sword : this is the best weapon you'll ever need going to level 75 where you can either change to Historic sword/axe because of its Dex +5 to increase your blade dance damage and HP +10% for your survivability.

Dretra sword : you'll only want to equip this if you can't find a Guardian sword to use, it has higher base damage compared to Guardian sword but the stats and HP increase is much better than hitrate and attack speed as you have no need of both.

Einy/Akan Set : this is the absolute best set you'll ever gonna need till 120 and it's arguably better or same as Blain/Virain Set, it gives a huge Dex stats, Skill damage, and Max HP which will boost your blade dance damage.

Historic Sword : this is based on preference, this sword give Dex +7 and Critical Chance +10%, it does increase your blade dance damage but you'll trade survivability you get from Guardian Sword, if you have a high level RM that can sustain your survivability this is the weapon to go.

Historic Axe : This will be the best weapon you'll ever need going to level 90, this will greatly boost your survivability allowing you to lure much more monsters, it adds HP +15% so with both in hand it'll increase your HP by 30%

Sword/Axe of Iblis : this is a good weapon if you ever find your hands on one, it has 5% skill damage and Dex +5 that increases your blade dance damage, you can pair it with historic axe for survivability and increased damage.

Angel Axe : you don't need this.

Angel Sword : this is the best weapon till 105, it increases your HP by 20% and dex by 7, you can try bosshunts with these to farm angel weapons or legendary weapons, two of this will be the best weapon until you get your hands on MSS/MSA

Legendary Golden Axe/Sword : ignore these

Mythical Silver Sword : This is possibly be your Endgame Weapon, it adds Dex +15 for more blade dance damage and HP +20% and block +7% for survivability.

Mythical Silver Axe : This I think is better than the sword, it has the same status effect as the sword but instead of getting block rate, you get reflect damage +10%, you won't be needing block rate as you've already pumped your dex stats and reflect damage will help you keep the aggro from getting taken by pesky rangers, elems, psy or knights!

Noctis/Nox set : the best set you'll ever need for this build

Bloody Sword : Ignore this nobody uses this.

Bloody Axe : you're gonna need two of this, this weapon might be for 1v1 but you'll be needing it for dungeon runs and guild raids. Personally, I used bloody axe paired with MSA because I couldn't be bothered upgrading a lure weapon and a 1v1 weapon so I just refined my bloody axe to +10 and keep the MSA as clean, I just rerolled its stat to add more dex.

Bloody Obsidian Axe : this weapon focuses on survivability, you will only be needing this if you min-max your Dex stats, it will increase your Sta by 20 and HP by 22% and you get incoming damage by -4%

Bloody Obsidian Sword : this is the same as BOA but instead of incoming damage -4% you get block +10%

Accessories : basically, arek ring, demols, and gore. stam and vigors are optional but you'll be focusing on the first three namely arek ring, demol earring and gore necklace.

Stat Allocation : this is where you'll need to estimate your stat points, if you're comfortable with the monsters you're luring or you keep on dying on the monsters you're luring or you need to grind in other areas where it's easier to grind or adjusting your gears. the best stats for me is where I can 1v1, lure, and have survivability.

Build #1: This is my Jack of all Trades build

Build #2: This is my standard luring build

Build #3: this build is where you can peacefully bosshunt for angel weapons, legendary weapons and you can also tank guild raid Supers

Build #4: this is the same as build #3 but it focuses more on blade dance damage
Sta 80
Dex xxx

Build #5: this build is if you have +10 all items and good refine accessories, it's for bloody obsidian weapon users
Pure Dex

Farming Area: there are areas you need to avoid mainly ranged monsters.
Syllaca, Small Greemong, Carrierbomb, watangka, and Kern.

Now that you're going smoothly farming and luring and you're ready to go to deadwallderness to grind, DONT!

You need to avoid Deadwallderness as fast as possible because of rage attacks, it's when a monster have low health it starts to hit like a truck, it's bad for AOE blades because we don't have defense and we only rely on our block rates.

The best level to skip Deadwallderness is level 108, this is where you'll go to azria and grind medumets, the best way to level here is if you have a mobber friend like rangers, psy, elems is to team up with them and an RM who will constantly spam healrain and lure every area in medumet, you, rangers and knights will lure medumets while the elem and psy stay in one spot will be your damage dealer and clear all lures, find another spot and repeat, you'll be 120 in no time!

Pets: because pets have been easily obtainable now I will add it to the guide

Unicorn : this is a good pet to have, flexible to all class since every class needs additional HP
Rabbit : don't get this, rangers don't even use this pet

and at this point you have mastered the AOE blade class!

EDIT: Don't upgrade your secondary weapon as you gain nothing from upgrading it unless you're 1v1, Element upgrade also doesn't increase skill damage so there's no point upgrading further than +1 to +5, this is also true to 1v1, as other blades have already confirmed that there's no increase upgrading your element weapon further than +1 because of empower weapon skill. better check pinned post in #blade for more information

note that the def of the 60 set is garbage and not a good selling point and that iblis skill dmg is a multiplier and therefore multiplies other multipliers, which makes them BIS for dmg

Overall great guide, however I'd like to point out few things:

Build-wise full dex will always be best option since you get plenty %hp bonuses from your weapon and set.

For giant hunting it's good to have Stam Rings for swapping as you don't sacrifice your stat-points (dmg at grinding) and they are great for raids.

You forgot to mention unicorn pet as even budget 1k hp makes huge difference thanks to mentioned above hp% bonuses.

Last but not least bloody sword / bloody axe with blade dance awake is superior as your main hand. Lifesteal makes aoeing so much easier and allows bigger pulls.

I've actually never intended to add pet into the build as we all know pets are a bit too much for a player who just started playing the game, also pets are just too pricey

you're still a 1v1 class only AoEing for convenience and in the end you'll still end up as a 1v1 class so buy core items for 1v1 like bloody axe

I used +9 haganes set AoE/1v1 until mammoth, the set clearly doesn't matter at higher levels as long as you have a higher refine to get that bonus blockrate and HP but if you're serious about AoE build I suggest you get the 120 set

Can block rate of blade go beyond 75%? Also, when we see stat build like sta 35 dex 150, is it referring to what our overall sta and dex should look like with gears and buffs or it it just referring to the additional sta and dex that we put whenever we level up?

yes block rate go beyond 75% but the cap is 75% so there's no point going beyond that and i'm just referring to the stats only I did not include the stats you get from weapon effects, armor effects, armor stats, buffs or prems, I just put 150 there because i reached 75% block rate with that stats when i'm wearing my +9 set and MBA and also the damage is decent enough for me so I pumped my str so I can switch to 1v1, when I had this build I'm hitting 20k BD on augus and 45k crit when I AA. you can tweak your stats until you think you're doing good damage or you decide to use obsi weap instead of using MBA/S, with obsi weap you can reduce the points you put to sta into dex for more damage to BD.
tl;dr: 75% blockrate and atleast 12k HP(with full buffs) is all you need to AOE till mammoth

I see some blades who have different elements for their main hand and off hand. Does that mean that the element of your off hand doesn't matter for 1v1? Or if it does, will it give a significant increase in dmg?

there's a little bit increase(or decrease) in damage vs monsters that have lower(or higher) resistance to your weapon element but since in dungeons you fight monsters with different element it's much cheaper to have a different set of element for those monsters. the best element by far is lightning and water, lightning for SP and Envy while water for Sanc and meteos
