It is possible, it just comes down to how well you study. Whether or not it is reasonable depends how much you plan on studying and how much time you can dedicate to it.
2-3 hours a day. not sure if just free flow anime like i normally do is wise though.
also, is it possible as in very tight but maybe or like pretty doable
I mean this just comes down to how well you study and how fast you are able to pick up.
Ok so then i would need to spend more time on it and improve my study
2 years from your current level sounds very possible
How casual do you mean, can you actually read nichijou w/o using a dictionary for much?
I dont read
I only watch
free likstening no subs no lookups
like I used to watch anime
all I did was turn off subs lol
You’re going by to want to build up the reading ability as much as possible
Considering that’s the main focus of the exam
Obviously listening etc still important, but the actually exam itself most points come from reading comprehension.
how would I even start doing that
also since your a systems engineer according to your bio
how would you describe the jump from n1 to academic or technical japanense
Probably start off with one of their 1k-2k decks
I stopped taking the JLPT after N2 considering as soon as I got into the work environment the qualification wasn’t really needed anymore
Yeah if you’re comfortable then you can just start reading stuff and look up stuff you don’t understand
Cause realistically you’ll need to be able to read at speed
And be able to parse important information fast enough to answer before times up
Cause N1 reading section basically tries to overwhelm you with a lot of content
if I read alot is speed going to be that much ofa concern
cause wouldnt u get used to it
how would you make the transition from easier manga to like actual books
Not 100% sure on that, I just dived straight into books
Was hard at first
There’s a good yahoo site which has a load of articles which uses a wide variety of grammar and vocab you’d seem in the N1 exams
Books are good as well, but I found that effective for studying towards the JLPT
Again, they are higher level but shorter than books
would I want to try to read them now and just look up everything
or find smth easier
That depends on what works for you
Important thing is to find a way you enjoy or you’ll just burn out
And find it hard. If looking up all the time as you read isn’t too much of a pain you can just dive right into stuff without worrying about difficulty so much. But if you think you’d give up, try easier material.
I like studying so even though I was doing dozens of look ups, it was fun.
If you can't read you're probably overestimating your ability
I'd say if you can read an easier light novel within 12 months from now, your n1 goal date is realistic
If not probably not
There's plenty of methods to get there, how you do it is up to you
I think the benchmark will prove you have the ability to create a lexicon of like 3-5k words, and have a solid fundamental grasp of the language
View Books for Intermediate Learners (~JLPT N3)
Maybe stuff in this ballpark as a first book
Ok i'm sorry for the week or two i haven't read this I got a job
would i start reading now or in 12 months?
that level i mean
right now i'm just reading yotsuba
As soon as you can
Sorry for random message but did u mean with or without lookup
