First, since you were doing 20 cards a day then dropped to 10, it'll take a few days for the reviews to go down
Also, make sure you're not spending more than 15s on individual cards: if you can't recall the information in 15s or so then fail the card (press again)
The time you spend on anki depends on your retention as well: as a beginner it's normal if it's very low, that's why we recommend immersing since day 1 (comprehensible input, easy anime etc). When immersing, try to notice the words you've seen in anki: doing that will increase your anki retention, which will in turn make your immersion easier, which will make anki easier etc
A general recommendation is to try to keep anki under 30-45m a day for beginner, it's too easy for beginners to burn out because of too much anki. For this purpose, try to follow the above advice for the next few days, weeks, and if you're still spending more than 45m, then reduce your new cards a day to like 8 or 5. It's better to go a little bit slower than quitting.
