I’d caution against trying to learn “rules”. Celebrate that you’re noticing and internalizing patterns, but seeking validation for what you notice instead of consuming more content can lead to expecting too much consistency or getting a wrong answer altogether
being aware of the basic rules can help with your comprehension, like any other grammar. just don't treat them as gospel or anything. (that being said, there are very few exceptions i've personally noticed with the basic transitivity rules)
In particular ◯◯やす vs. ◯◯える is the other way around, so indeed be careful
