Learn kana first imo, then start immersing.

Spend 1 or 2 days getting light foundation in Kana then continue to solidify that foundation in immersion by reading subs. Here is a walkthrough of how to do that. (I didnt even get a foundation in Korean just went right into subs using a "key" and loved the experience. so you can do that also if you feeling adventourus). But i realize some people like the comfort of the SRS in the start, but leave it as soon as you can.

This method is specifically designed to be used with the Refold method of language learning. www.Refold.la for more information.

WARNING, watch the video for install instructions so you don't accidentally delete your entire Anki profile.

Here is a first draft attempt at helping beginners understand immersion better. Why we do it early and what exactly we do during immersion. Please leave comments so future versions can be shorter and more informative.

Note: I try and OVER explain the idea so people really confused can get a lot of info to help express the idea. Sorry for the ra...

If you want a good routine to follow for the first 30 days of your language learning journey, read this.

^ with regards to this, be aware that it conflicts slightly with standard refold methodology in some ways. In the scheme of 30 days, it’s not that important, but if you have questions about any part feel free to ask! My only major caution is 3+ hours per day is not necessary. Especially not in stage 1. Don’t feel discouraged by that. shoui was fairly young when they wrote most of that site and they were overzealous at times. I believe they’re rewriting it? Could be wrong.

I'm going to hold an event in 45 minutes to discuss some of the things i've been having with people who want to discuss it

reading subs (without flashcards at all) is how I learned korean. it works just fine, just a little less hand holding than using the custom anki decks

I see, thanks for the reply. I'll try that advice out (I also found another kana deck - AJT Kana Recognition - just in case anyway, it's just not as ordered I guess as your deck).

which for beginners can just make it feel more daunting than it is

sliiiigthly harder (you need a vocab of at least 200 words or so) is Nihongo con Teppei for Beginners, starting from episode 1: https://nihongoconteppei.com/

You are not supposed to understand either of them, rewatch if it's not painful, it will be benificial.

finally this thing is pure gold, no preparation is needed. Look at their Complete beginner section: https://cijapanese.com/

Study Japanese for fluency! Instead of explaining a lot of grammar, we're going to start using the language right as we learn it. To benefit from the videos you'll need to watch, listen, and answer the questions that I ask you. Check my channel often because I'll be uploading the next lesson, and more advanced videos.

In these first videos you'...
