#Writing to Remember at Stage 1?

Currently, I'm memorizing vocab and a bit of grammar through anki and Tae Kim's guide. I can read and recognize kanji relatively proficiently going from TL-> NL, but it's rather difficult to recall them at will. I thought about writing and practicing the kanji to memorize them, but I recall that outputting is something reserved for level 2. Any thoughts or good practice to go about this?

The point of anki is to make the best of your time

#

Writing it down is one step closer to just rote memorizing it

#

Just continue doing the vocab ank deck and really try to focus on the sentence when you fail the card

#

Enough immersion should fix any issues you have

#

And don’t worry too much about retention rates, anything from 70-90% is fine

Writing down kanji will probably help with recall but it's a big time investment and won't necessarily improve your comprehension. So unless you're really interested in learning how to write kanji, it's better for you to focus on reading instead. As long as you can read and recognise kanji, you don't need to worry about recalling it. That comes naturally after you've built a solid foundation through immersion.

There’s actually a section in the Refold guide that goes over outputting and learning to write
