#what do your sentence cards look like?
24 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I like having furigana on the back of my cards but I feel like its a bad habit
I am trying to make something similar to that with the migaku browser extension but I cant get it to look decent when I add a screenshot
I followed this guide for the setup
Yeah it might be best to ease off of furigana
Maybe just leaving them on the cards that currently have them and not adding them to new cards
I also have the english sentence on the back of cards because I feel like it makes my understanding better even though in theory I am mining i+1 sentences
Also what font/size is this?
This is mine after following Shiki's lazy sentence mining guide.
I didn't go for an English translation of the sentence as I don't mine a sentence if I don't know what it means, even if I know all the words but cant grasp the concept of it, I'll wait for a sentence with the target word in it that I do understand.
someone can correct me if I wrong but I feel you need furigana on the back to know what the kanji reads, then grade yourself if you get the meaning and reading correct. You won't have to grade yourself on knowing what the sentence means if you only mine the ones you already understand.
I posted mine in #sentence-mining-workflows a while ago, but here's the basic gui demo https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/17107540/187550103-7e50c317-9074-4c7c-a499-fa4ddc89e419.mp4
Sentence cards aren't shown in that demo but it's supported as well
Yes, furigana on the back is fine. Just don't put it on the front.
And yeah, you shouldn't have a English translation of the whole sentence. If you need a translation to understand a sentence you mined, it's not a good sentence to be adding in the first place.
Thanks guys
Here's mine. I hide the translation and only really check it when creating the card to make sure I understood the sentence correctly.
I wouldn't have the option to reveal the answers on the front
I simply don't reveal the answers. I do it as a placeholder so the text stays in the same place for the back.
that's asking a lot of willpower from yourself everyday
Lol I just never considered clicking reveal as an option when repping.

I mean, if you have to reveal the answer, you've failed the card so you should grade it a fail anyway
