I'm looking for feedback on my planned high-performance gaming and streaming build. The system is designed around stability and reliability, running components at stock speeds (except XMP RAM profiles).

PCPartPicker Link: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/des/saved/RjNprH
Core System Design:
The build centers around the upcoming RTX 5090 FE and AMD's 9800X3D with its gaming-focused 3D V-cache, planned as a phased upgrade through November 2025. The GPU upgrade will begin at 5090 launch, with motherboard, CPU, and RAM updates completing the transition.
For the case, I've selected the Antec FLUX PRO in black, recognized by Gamers Nexus and Hardware Canucks as a top 2024 case for its thermal performance, build quality, and acoustic design. The GPU will be mounted horizontally to optimize airflow.
Primary Use Case:

  • Gaming at 2K 165Hz on an ultrawide AW3423DWF QD-OLED with high quality settings
  • Games: CP2077: Phantom Liberty, The Witcher 4, Kingdom Come 2, CS2, Delta Force, Tarkov, Helldivers 2, Stalker 2, Baldur's Gate 3
  • Simultaneous dual-platform streaming at 2K 60FPS
    Cooling Approach:
The build pairs the Noctua NH-D15 with the Antec FLUX PRO's stock fan configuration, prioritizing reliable cooling while minimizing failure points.
    Current Setup and Transition:
I'm moving from a system with 5800X3D, 4080 FE, and Aorus Elite B550. Components marked as "purchased" in PCPartPicker represent quality parts retained from the current build, including the SeaSonic Prime PSU, storage drives, and peripherals.
    Location and Sourcing:
Based in Israel, with components sourced through a mix of local and international vendors (prices in NIS).
    I'd appreciate feedback on:
  1. Component synergy for maintaining 165FPS while streaming
  2. Any potential oversights in the build plan
  3. Thoughts on the RAM selection (detailed in PCPartPicker)
The net investment after selling current hardware will be approximately $2,300 USD.

The prices seem wonky to me, but that probably has something to do with buying in ISrael. For the rest it looks fine; I personally wouln't buy a X870 mobo unless you really need USB4 for some reason; and even then that board does funky lanesharing with the USB4/M2 slots

#

Did you get a 12VHPWR cable for your PSU?

ah yeah I forgot about this

#

As for other mobo's: If you're just a 'normal' user who just wants a PCIe x16 slot for his GPU and a few M.2 slots then most B650 boards are completely fine

#

If you're semi-paranoid that you need PCIe 5.0 on the GPU slot then yeah look at B650E or X870 too, or even X670E or X870E if there's a good deal

#

Chart here how to figure out if a B650 is 'fine'; blue is fine, red is not fine

X870 is really just B650E with another name, and mandatory USB4

#

X870E is like X670E, and again with USB4

will i be fine with my current 1k watt psu?

There's almost always one on deal for like $200-$250

#

No sense in paying more for a board at all

#

X870 is just underwhelming

# narrow acorn If price doesn't matter that much I'd pick basically any X670E board with 4 M.2 ...

1 Asus ROG Strix X670E-E - in israel(https://tms.co.il/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=107940), cheapest offer 2495 NIS = 678 $ , at newegg(https://www.newegg.com/global/il-en/asus-rog-strix-x670e-e-gaming-wifi-atx-amd-motherboard-amd-x670e-am5/p/N82E16813119581?Item=N82E16813119581) 516$ total price (shipping and taxes)!

2 ASRock X670E Steel Legend not available in israel at all and actually not even on newegg nor amazon, seems like shortage of it

3 MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI - ksp.co.il (https://ksp.co.il/web/item/261987) - 1,410 NIS = 382$, newegg (https://www.newegg.com/global/il-en/msi-mag-x670e-tomahawk-wifi-atx-amd-x670e-am5/p/N82E16813144595) - 321 USD (out of stock for now though) so actually cooler to buy in israel for warranty since 60$ is not that big difference

No practical difference between them, I feel they're all expensive already :p

# narrow acorn Any of these boards are totally fine

I need to decide between ASUS or MSI Tomahawk, both available in the near future. From what I've read, both are totally fine as you said. The ASUS offers more features that I don't really need - RGB controls and analog audio features aren't important to me.
Key differences seem to be:

PCIe config: ASUS has more PCIe 5.0 slots vs MSI's MB 3 PCIe 5 + 1 PCIe 4 vs 1 PCIe 5 + 3 PCIe 4
USB ports: 13 rear vs 8 rear (minor difference but worth noting)
ASUS has Q-code LED

So it's about $300 difference for these features - AFAIK not worth it?

It's gonna be your call; I'd pick the Tomahawk (or an Asrock board, really). I like the simplicity of the Tomahawk and I dislike the weird M.2 lanesharing shenanigans the Asus board does to make 3 5.0 x4 slots possible

asrock not available anywhere for now so i most likely will go msi tomahawk route then. TY.
