Just figuresd that out.
Is it always this complicated
if you go without updating for too long then yes
Like you have one issue in linux you wanna fix but end it having more problems
Ah that makes sense. So how often should I update
debian is what you need if you plan to not update for a year
i do everyday after finishing my stuff for the day
before turning of the pc
once a week is completely fine
once in two weeks is stretching, you start to see 1.5gb of updates
OK I'll try to update every day.
once a month is when shit starts hitting the fan
afaik its what manages drivers and kernel and so on
part of system core
when it fails you cant boot
Ah
i take it as you being able to update

no sdcard?
Trying now but it removed my wallpaper
lmao
nope
try again after a reboot
just to make sure
Lemme try the wallpaper issue
But since it wasn’t the SD card fault but rather NEMO shat happens it nemo does it again
if nemo doesnt work, thunar is also a good file manager
Ok everything works now
Ok. Ill do that next time it fails
Dude everything is soo different in the update
I can’t remember
by changes you mean in the ui?
Yeah it's sleeker
Although it is kinda slow even for my high end laptop
Every time I take a screen shot to show you it takes a while to screen shot it
see if there's some time delay
shouldnt be slow
kde plasma which is heavier runs great on my 2nd gen i3 laptop
Huh how do i find a time delay
Why do distros and hacks have delicious sounding names
I hacked my wii u with tiramisu
And no delays
endeavouros is hardly delicious lmao
But it is intriguing
Thats odd it worked fine before the update
It works
Here's what my UI looks like now
looks nice
cinnamon looks always good
still prefer plasma blur tho
you can use gnome-disk-utility for managing drives
its like windows's disk management but infinitely better
Huh. How do i isntall plasma then
Ah OK nvm then. I just got this one working I ain't migrating to anything else haha
cinnamon is completely fine too its just preference
Is gparted still pretty good for disk managment
gparted is more formatting
more serious tool
gnome disk utility is better for casual use
Ah OK that's neat
saved my ass couple of times when i needed to tinker in fstab
disk utility does that with a nice ui
Fstab?
a file with all the moutpoint data
tells linux to find and mount correct drives when booting up
Oh so you can swap different devices you wanna boot to via it?
kinda?
imagine you go to a building and you have a note telling you where's your room
that note is what fstab is like
"file system table"
Ohhhhh
That’s sounds extremely similar to a networking table that maps IP addressed to the domain name
absolutely cruicial part of the system and shouldnt be meddled with just for shits and giggles
kinda yes
I forgot the proper name but yeah. Also basically if u mess of fstab you mess up the entire os
