I run that strat, but I added caterpie as a backup when deck draws go bad at match start. Not metapod/butterfree, just caterpie. Without, sometimes the game just doesn't give you the right evos in time. Caterpie can fix, and the two slots it takes up in your deck when it isn't needed don't turn into dead weight.

True, and it does happen, but ive had so many games where I just dont get the evos i need until late game. Had one earlier today where both venusaur were at the bottom of my deck and i just could not get them until late game. Was playing against someone running dnite/chansey lead, and i started with caterpie. It ended up being worth it to have both, early game and mid after i knocked out the 1st dnite, but i chickened out of using lead caterpie too early to get rid of the chansey, figuring i'd probably get the venusaur sooner than later. I ended up being one turn behind on doing enough damage to win, but it likely would have been a quicker loss if I hadn't been able to pull out pokemon cards at will.

Before I ran the bug I was forced to tank hits on lilligant/ivysaur and pray things worked in my favor long enough to get venu. There was alot more risk involved in playing the strat that way and I lost alot more than I do now.

I've also had to tank hits on lilligant and ivysaur, but the thing is, if you're doing that and haven't drawn Venu yet, chances are better than not that it's coming. And for me, it has in most cases, then he gets online and it's game over

I find it hard to believe that you lost MORE without Caterpie than with. That's probably bad game luck, or something wrong with how you're playing it inherently, idk

Caterpie ruining the opening chance at Pet/Bulb and then diminishing the value of Oak/Poke Ball just seems too great, to me

Like, at that point, Caterpie is simply working to overcome the deck disadvantage... that Caterpie placed there 🤣

idk why you use pinchirin but my I choose not to use

red card (because whenevre it's used on me it almost always helps me out lol) or pinchirin and only use 1 pikachu EX / Giovanni

instead of the above I use

a non-ex zapdos (cheap retreat + sacrifice)
x1 non-ex pikachu and raichu (to one hit strong mons)
Lt. Surge (to transfer energy to electrode/raichu when the active mon is about to die

am kind of surprised how useful lt. surge is so I carry two usually

I don't know if I have terrible rng luck, but here's my pull rate for the Lapras event:
16 Mankey
11 Pikachu
6 Clefairy
6 Butterfree
1 Lapras....
That's from doing mainly a mix of expert and advanced battles. Don't think difficulty as any impact on chances of pulling a Lapras, but increases the odds of the battle giving you a pack to open at all.

you say its a 'cop out' to play with coin flip cards but if you played vs [a lot of] people who use flip cards - e.g. misty/all the legendary birds/etc - you would have noticed there is a reaaaaaaaaaaaally good chance that they fail horribly lmao not only that but, if they do something like use a misty and get tails first flip, 9/10 times they just quit and give you exp loool

plus this game is almost entirely rng >_> getting a strong deck that doesn't rely on coin flips isn't exactly easy (unless you buy gold) but if you manage to make a solid deck that does not rely on coin flips you should fare well even if someone gets lucky with coin flips.

Honestly, I'm only playing the pvp for the emblems and rewards. Otherwise I'd just play the solo battles with whatever I feel like building

If I based it off pokemon I really liked I'd be playing Kanto starters or mewtwo. Only thing I play purely for wins is articuno/starmie

They did give me the option to use gold when I first started it was like 10 gold or 15 or open 10 packs but now since I have a lot of hourglass it doesn't give me the option to use the gold to open the regular packs anymore like before only to use hourglass

I rather use gold to open 10 packs then 110 or 120 hourglass

But it doesn't give me the option like wonder pick Does choose between using gold or hourglass
