The hard drives are not being used anymore as it has been completely been replaced by my SSD external storage

The hard drives have been spinning for no reason other than to just be alive, as waste of use. Power plans can reduce the uptime but that only goes so far

I do not sell any storage drives unless they were never in contact with my systems. If I have no use for an obsolete drive, I erase, then destroy

I’m aware that SSDs are limited in writes before anyone is like “but Tellinq you should be using the hard drives for long term storage you’re wasting writes!!!” No I’m really not. Even so, the SSDs I use will last me way longer than any hard drive will. I don’t write terabytes of data each day. By the end, the hard drives would die first at the rate I’m using them

These drives were originally intended to be used for video storage. However, my hard drives eventually became a bottleneck.

I did eventually directly record to my SSD (which was 512 GB before I upgraded), and then set up a schedule to transfer my videos before my system shut down, but even that became a waste of time

So eventually the hard drives became a place for long term storage, but then traveling became a matter when I started my college semester. I instead opted to use an external drive as that was easily more obtainable for me

Which brings me to now - the drives serve absolutely no purpose than to be a slow alternative to storage. I haven’t had a need for them for almost a year, but never took them out

I’m still on am4 even after building lga1700 and am5 computers cause the 5800x3D with good B-die gives you on par gaming performance with bloated windows running intel or amd newer CPU’s that are running stock

5800x3D runs 600-800 optimized Valorant max settings at 1440p, 7950 or 7900 gives you about 100 fps less all be it cause they aren’t monolith die

And if you go intel, turn off all p cores to get more fps or it just ties with the 5800 if u leave them on

Assuming u running stock xmp on all the setups

Unless you play tarkov or cod then intel p cores off the way to go cause of amd dip

Windows 11 is installed, but my drives aren’t showing up in file explorer. I also updated the drivers for each storage device in DM

I created new volumes for both, but they still don’t appear in file explorer

they don’t show as unallocated in Disk Management

If they’re black then they’re not initialized
