#Running into laggy recordings!
71 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I use Mkv as my video format!
I have multiple audio tracks!
And my aspect ratio is 1280x720 ( Exact same as my actual display which is for some apparent reason a fucking TV wooo )
Show screenshots of all of your OBS settings
Mhm ok
here u go!
If u need any other specific ones just ask
I just thought these were the only important ones
Also I only need to record so yea
Streaming isn't really relevant to me
send an example of these "encoding errors"
That only happens in the case I use uk My GPU as the encoder
Which I dont bec its shitty
Let me look for a recording gimme sec
oh so your issue is just skipped frames?
Ig yea
Idk its what it says, not sure what it means but mkv is supported format... the entire recording is black and the error pops up in the end
Only the audio is clear

Windows' default "Movies & TV" player cannot play HEVC/H.265 video playback by default and struggles with high FPS videos,
You can play HEVC using any of these video players:
â ‚VLC, get it at https://www.videolan.org/
â ‚#934458649865248768 an extensible, keyboard driven video player
so?
ur saying Its a bad source to playback a video with
??
It is
im talking abt the video player not your monitor
Im guessing I use VLC
either
Do you?
Not sure lmao
I never noticed if I used a VLC
Ive been using this as my only source of playingback my video besides ofc uk The editing software I use where i toss in the clip or video file
Open a video and send a fullscreen screenshot
Well im not sure how to use a MPV plus whats the difference exactly?
it’s a different program for playing videos
..?
oh i didnt read mb
Ok sure I will in the morning it's like 1:30am for me
But even if I get a new video player what difference will it make?
It would still be jumping frames wouldn't it?
youll be able to watch the video
unlike here
No clue, the issue could be several things

In order for you to make sure OBS does not lag while it's recording, you should make the Stats Dock shown, just like this:
It is prefered to have a second monitor so you are able to see how it's doing without having to alt tab (by having OBS on your second monitor)
It is normal to get a few dozens of skipped frames when alt tabbing

Even if I knew the frames skipped that wouldn't exactly tell me what's causing it lmao??
It would tell you if it’s OBS that’s at fault or something like your video player
That's only because I used my gpu if I use my cpu its visible
And it’d help to fix the problem faster
yeah but if your gpu doesnt lag then you should use it instead
Ah ok hmm I'll c tmr ig but I mean how could I tell while using it bec if I use it I'd obv use it in game and the thing would be in obs and I got one screen...
.... Its the thing that bottlenecks my whole PC and goes up to 100% usage for MC....
I don't think it can't lag
Any other thing besides VLC video player which I could use to stop encoding lag
I experience the lag mainly in game recording when most of my resources are used, plus it be more accurate because it be the thing I record
Oh wow vlc fixed my problem the clips are no longer laggy, but what if I use MPV, would it be better? or preferred? Also any other way I could maybe fix up the lag?
your video player doesn't stop encoding lag
yea ik
