Yeah, I was just about to ask, because the queue here is likely due to the vehicles not being able to enter a "blocked" intersection.

I would suggest fixing that particular quirk by keeping the highway(?) split all the way to the roundabout.

Okay, so you are going to also soon encounter a situation where that roundabout is rapidly going to get overloaded. A better option here might be to extend the highway past this area as either a highway road or as a de-zoned arterial, and then provide a service interchange where the roundabout is...

Space-wise, I'd think a SPUI might be your best bet, but you could probably also fit in a diamond or a roundabout interchange if you want.
