Anyone else tried the game?
Thanks to Game Pass I have downloaded and tried it, but only spent little time with it so far

Been having a great time. After the first 8 hours maxed out at large town with almost all level 3. I only managed to claim one additional region before the AI claimed the rest so I just recently started to take them over, I’ve won back 3 so far, just rebuilding my influence to get more. I’ve maxed out my army units and my retinue.
I only have a small town going in the first of the regions I claimed, which is the middle right region. I didn’t have the ones in the middle until after I had already started that one, and just won those recently. My starting region is the lower left.

Fantastic game! Something I've not yet figured out is how to get the vegetable gardens to work? They're built but nobody is growing anything? Any advice gratefully recieved
Edit: Found out the reason - just the wrong season. They don't start working on it until April

I still can't figure out how to get my workers to sow the fields. They plow the fields and then promptly go home and wait

Just leave them assigned to the farm all year. You can't micromanage it.
If you assign families part way through the year, you won't get consistent results until at least the next year, if not the year after that depending on exactly when you assigned them.
Even in winter there are things that the farm requires them to do, so they aren't wasted by being assigned.
That being said, farming is really not providing the output it should. My main village I got all the way to Large Town with all Tier 3 burgage plots and not a single farm. I had a lot of large vegetable gardens and some chicken coops to get going, and trade for everything else.

I actually figured it out. They plowed it about 1 month before the crop year cycled to the next year

I've been playing the game as well. It's not bad for early access. The most limiting factor for me was the number of families/workers early in the game. I felt like it took me awhile before I could start growing my population and I kept having to swtich people to different workplaces.

Yes, it is a limiting factor, but I know some village builders where we have to deal with less people, so it wasn't that big issue for me

Yeah, I don't think it's a bad thing, it's just a bit of a learning curve and forces you to be more resourceful and actually manage people earlier in the game. It reminds me of Frostpunk if you've ever played that...the city runs itself after a certain point but in the beginning, you're always shuffling workers around

Hey CityPlanner! In your recent video you asked why the windmill was elevated. That type of windmill is called a post mill and is elevated on a post that allows the building to rotate. This allows the sails to catch the wind more efficiently.

I absolutely love this game. I played non-stop all weekend and can't wait to do it again.
That said, I haven't quite got the hang of managing the economy so that I can conquer other lands. I contested the AIs claim and he showed up on the battlefield with just an insane number of troops.

Export everything you can
I've found that allowing my lands to build up heavy amounts of wealth, then hitting them with 1 month of like a 30% tax rates allows me to pay for enough retinue

I like that you can play the game without combat if you like, or only have bandit combat etc 🙂 And you can build some cool towns, hope to see a estimated timeframe for updates in the future

My main town has 4 farm houses, 2 windmills, and 4 communal ovens. So 32 families spend all the fall harvesting and plowing, and 18 of those families spend the rest of the winter grinding everything into bread. I can normally wrap up by the middle of january or early february with the bread process

Damn, thats crazy. Only got 2 ovens and 28 familys tho.

Bigger plow is good for long straight fields. If you have weird angles it's horrible
However if you have like 8 families free they will beat the plow

Yeah. 28 or even more and its a Speedrun.

The plow is good because its works on it's own. So all your families can hand plow, and the ox can do a second field at the same time

My families started the field and then stopped in the middle of it... Was really annoying for me so I removed them (the ox) again.
