#Want to reduce traffic as much as possible

I am a certified car hater and want my cities to be mostly car-free. However, it seems that no matter how many subway stations, bike lanes, and pedestrian zones I build, my narrow, traffic-calmed streets somehow end up clogged with enough vehicles to run a small nation. The main offenders seem to be trucks bringing goods from my industrial zones to my mixed-use commercial/residential areas. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Are you looking for suggestions for mods to use? I can think of a few that could make things more realistic.

But ultimately the only real vanilla solution to this is to shift a lot of your industry to IT cluster offices (from Green Cities DLC), which produce software that doesn't need to be transported to commercial areas with vehicles.

Maybe build a highway detour around the city and route the industry traffic that way with some policies

You can't escape from delivery trucks. Otherwise commercial wouldn't work.
HOWEVER Sims in game consume far too much stuff, and thus with " advanced business consumption " (or whatever it's called) will drastically reduce that and your delivery traffic

Ultimately, my main goal is to have as few cars in my city as possible.

Which means there will be very little traffic

Try to build ring roads and cargo terminals so that delivery trucks only drive a short bit inside the city

Cargo terminals sound like a great idea!

Make sure you are following roadway hierarchy to because even though it would be great to have car free cities it's not realistic and people will still drive so of you don't want cars on certain areas use highways and arterials to get then awqy
