Hello all!! Does anyone know if the mods from CS1 are gonna work in CS2?

@JBS, AICP
Hello! SimCity got me into city planning and city planning got me into Cities Skylines. I’m a professional transportation planner in New York City and a general transportation and urbanism nut. Definitely looking forward to CS2 and may want to upgrade my PC for it soon.

CS2 will not be backwards compatible with any mods from CS1.

#

While the engine is effectively the same, meaning that it runs on Unity, it is an entirely different base code and therefore, cannot use any mods previously.

#

Modding tools have also been rebuilt.

#

Please see the CS2 Features Guide, pinned in #cs2-discussion for more information about the coming features, currently known.

If you made a mod for CS1, it will only work in CS1.

#

Now whether a mod from CS1 makes it into CS2 by making a new one, that's a different story.

No. Code and modding tools are totally different. At best, you could replicate the intention of the mod and some of its features, but that’s all.

The core game engine is different so it will not be compatible. Also there is no guarantee that it will be necessary (ie it will be integrated in the base game)

Precisely.
