High industrial traffic - force cargo terminals?

So I built this city and was really pleased about how it's coming around and everything going to plan...
...until I built the small industrial district in the bottom of the screenshot which demolished my traffic because of the single connection to the road network.

I know, the logical fix would be to remake the highway intersection and add a direct connection so they don't have to go around, but I really suck at intersections so I thought about this -

Can I somehow build a train terminal and force ALL industrial traffic to go through that terminal instead of choosing the highways to transport goods outside of the city?

I built a quick and temporary cargo terminal here but very few trucks seem to go through, they all somehow still choose the highway

You need more connectivity trough your community, i would build more bridges but only collector roads should be bridges. i would be glad to hear if it works ^^

But i'm not a planner but i think that how's the game work ^^

Ended up having to do what I dreaded most. Upgraded the highway intersection, also added a roundabout and slightly changed the layout. Still heavy traffic but not blocked anymore, over 80% overall
