#My city's main traffic issue is this interchange

I think we'll need to see further south/down than this screenshot to see the problem
I can see quite a few road hierarchy problems where you connect a highway with a small street, instead of with a large arterial road.
I've highlighted some of those by drawing where I think the highway should terminate in blue. Basically you should try to join the two directions of highway together into a large two-way road first, and then join that road with the rest of your street grid
Not enough connectivity from the main highway. I know people hate highways but you gotta better distribute the traffic than what you currently have going on. Don’t forget to use your tools as well. It’s not enough to just look at the traffic map. You have to look at the routes to see where people are coming from and where they’re trying to go.
So like Doddibot was saying, we’ll need to see what’s going on to the south before we can really make suggestions
its just a bunch of tools roads so doesnt really effect the blocking of traffic atleast from what i see its just this road that concerns me
cause when you zoom in its standstill
as I expected, there's no connections at all down here, because there's a big wall of houses and farms (in red) preventing any direct paths. No wonder the traffic is so bad, you're forcing them all through this one very indirect path where traffic has to go (in blue)
I would delete this road (you really shouldn't have a street that just joins a highway at right angles like that)
you'll have to figure out where to put another interchange to get people in and out of the the forestry area, but that little road is not it
I'm going to bed now so I hope other people can help you
All those toll booths lol never seen that before
It's my get rich card that's why I have 6 million dollars
I'm testing out a few different highway designs so I'm more like 4 million now
Lol fair enough
I might just buy a tile to put my forestry in there
And that would help with the traffic issue
Cuz both my pharmacy traffic and my standard car traffic go through the same interchange
Logging
Yeah always a good idea to kinda spread out your industry areas to a certain degree. Big help with traffic.
my ideas for the area
some more connections can be added
and on some intersections roundabouts can be used
im assuming the black x is what i should remove
To add to what @heady kiln suggested, I would cut off the local at grade access from the main east-west artery going north of the town east of your forestry industry and instead direct line that road to the community in the northeast corner with a local exit to the community with high gardens in it. Sorry if that’s confusing; I could draw it out if you’d like
Yeah
Replace it with a small roundabout and the 2 highways going to nearby area to the south should be replaced with a local road
Proper transit will help out aswell
Blue indicates proposed arterials (consider 4- or 6-lane roads).
Green indicates proposed collectors or minor arterials (consider 4-lane roads).
Yellow indicates proposed highway ramps.
Gray indicates proposed local connections.
Just wish there was a way to send all my residents on vacation so i could redesign the city
lol
Well there is 'mandatory vacation' but they wont come back
traffic has gone down slightly
okay this road seems to be a issue
okay so this city is messing everyone up for some reason
So I’m thinking this cloverleaf is unnecessary. Probably something simpler would be fine.
However I think you need to have the highway go directly from your arterial in the community in the bottom left to it’s current location roughly around where the unnecessary cloverleaf is
And then you can just connect the community on the north of the pic via some sort of T interchange or it may simply just need a regular diamond.
It just seems to me that all of the traffic is trying to go to the community on the left which if I have my directions correct that’s your downtown district. So that means it’s not just cars but also trucks trying to get over there.
You could also consider something like this
Forgive my lack of drawing skills; hard to do on a phone lol
I agree with everybody else, I think you could use some road hierarchy lessons here. Highways don't just....end on a small residential street
You need to use less highways and make more connections. See my suggestion, above.
