#Michigan u-turns

Thay would probably mean doing really wide parkways to allow for them. Both highways in CWC and NB have really narrow Highway rights of way .
I haven't seen every CWC episode, but is it established as being in Superior? For some reason, I've always imagined it as being around Green Bay.
(Also, I can't think of a single place in Superior that uses Michigan lefts.)
CWC is like in an Imaginary breakaway state of Michigan, and he calls it Superior
I dont know if the actual "Clear Water" in the series is the Lake Superior
CWC is supposed to be somewhere more in the west of the region: superior id supposed to be the UP of Michigan and some of the northern, coastal areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin. It's not stated whether the body of water in CWC is on lake Superior or lake Michigan, actually, I don't think.
That's cool. It could certainly use Michigan lefts on some of the bigger roads in CWC.
I will say I can't think I've seen a single one in the eastern UP. They seem to be more of a down south thing. It doesn't seem unreasonable they might sneak into Ashland or Van Buren! Couliard is definitely too small to accommodate any sort of wide collector/artery yet.
Iam not American, so can someone tell me where is UP?
Uttar Pradesh comes to mind when I think UP
upper peninsula
the north part of michigan
nicolet bay is on the very north of the lower peninsula
and the island is halfway between
Island is actually just off the coast of the UP, the ferry ride from Mack City is definitely longer.
Unless you're on one of the runs from St. Ignace that sails under the bridge before going to the island
Used to be able to sleigh over from St. Ignace in the winter, but the ice is getting thinner every year...
Ah, so the islands Nicolet Bay map has are right in the middle of both
Specifically it's the two just to the east of the straits, Mackinac and Bois Blanc, in Lake Huron
So we can imagine that main town in Nicolet Bay is the city Macinac in that map?
It's in the same spot
the town that's currently being focused on is roughly in the same location as St. Ignace
its dot is right next to Mackinac island, there's also Mackinaw City (which is legally a village, not a city 😅 ) where the Mackinac bridge icon is which might see development in the build, but is not part of Superior
Wait so Nicollet bay isn’t in Superior??
No it is, the little bit to the south of the bridge in the map is still supposed to be Michigan though
This is the general area the map is based off of
Landmass at the south is Michigan; I'm assuming Bois Blanc (or whatever it is to be called in game) is going to be part of Superior as well.
In our timeline, there is a Mackinac Bridge info radio station, and one of the questions on it is "When I cross the bridge, will I be in Canada or Wisconsin?" "Neither! You'll be in Michigan's Upper Peninsula!"
In Nicolet Bay, I imagine the answer is someone saying bitterly "Neither! You'll be in the land stolen from Michigan by the federal government!"
People from Wisconsin be like this ong
Wow, I didnt know the Nicolet bay map was made so close to the real thing
Tbh, why is the north of Wisconsin under Michigan's rule anyway? Having that land for Wisconsin makes more sense geographically
It's a really dumb story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toledo_War
The Toledo War (1835–36), also known as the Michigan–Ohio War or the Ohio–Michigan War, was an almost bloodless boundary dispute between the U.S. state of Ohio and the adjoining territory of Michigan over what is now known as the Toledo Strip. Control of the mouth of the Maumee River and the inland shipping opportunities it represented, and the ...
But why is that war Wisconsin's fault?
Or was it not a state yet?
Wisconsin wasn't a state yet, no. Michigan wasn't even a state yet until after the events of the Toledo War.
The Wisconsin territory was created after Michigan became a state from leftover land not allocated to Michigan out of the Michigan Territory, which was just sort of everything left over that wasn't already a state (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois) in the then-northwest of the country
it's pretty much identical
So basically the entire great lakes coast is Michigan.
WE WERE STOLEN FROM.
except Michigan territory was mostly formed out of Illinois territory when that was made a state, and then Indiana territory before that was a state, so really it was stolen from Indiana--literally Land of the Indians, so it's pretty much admitting it's stolen native land even.
Ew, Indiana.
And now you are losing even more to Superior!
What did I miss lol
Wait, so Ameican states are steal-ceptions?
Yep. The land was stolen from the Native Americans by the French, then stolen by the British, then stolen by the Americans, then stolen by states from other states...
Christopher Nolan is going to be proud
Honestly, it should be part of Ontario :v
The Americans didn’t steal it from the British. They won it via treaty lol.
Def not
not necessarily, you see them in marquette among other places
Nah
Mackinaw city has a population of abt 1K
- its in michigan, not superior
its mostly just a bunch of crappy hotels
I wouldn't call Marquette the eastern UP.
yeah its not
but he also said "they seem to be more of a down south thing"
What’s a Michigan u-turn?
That seem dangerous. Why not just turn at the light?
because that is even more dangerous due to increase chances of a car crash
note: the green and red paths go on different lights
so the two paths are never going at the same time
Ah
