Hi Phil, I may have missed it but it dosen't seem like there is a Supreme Court building in Van Buren or even Ashland (which could become the judicial capital of Superior).

You could have a main Supreme Court building like this:

I thought there was a courthouse in Ashland already? Maybe I'm misremembering

There is, but it was built prior to Superior becoming a state. Now they have to set up their own state judiciary (trail/superior Court, Court of appeals, and Supreme court). In addition they will need to provide an additional building(s) to handle the federal District Courts.

Basically the existing facility is far to small to meet the needs of a new state.

Tbh though it should probably be in Van Buren in that case

Ashland is already pretty developed and Van Buren is still "in-construction/planning"
Would make more sense for it to go in the capital city

Very true. It particularly since there is still vacant land close to the capital building

As a practicing attorney who did clerk for a judge in DC Superior Court, I'd just like to point out that there's usually 3 levels of courts, not four...and because NY is weird, the highest court may sometimes be called the "Court of Appeals" with the "Supreme Court" being under it...

As someone who uses (and loves) the Dirksen asset in a current build, I can honestly say there is no way that would be appropriate in or near Van Buren. It would easily end up being the tallest and largest building and would loom over everything else.

I would love to see the tallest building in Superior be for the courts, haha! But I do agree it would be out of place, just wanted to put it out there as an example.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I love that asset. I have it arranged as a part of city HQ sort of a plaza along with the Kluczynski Federal Building (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1386107099) and Honker's Rehab Center (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1344899748).

Just, those are all in the 300-600ft tall range...

And the state capitol in Van Buren is only 200ft...so...

No, personally, I'd choose that King County Courthose. It fits the look and scale of Van Buren (IMHO)...But who knows whether Phil is going to go that route... 🤷‍♂️

I do love fhe federal building in Chicago though! It was one of my favorite places to walk to. I always walked to the post office there even though I had one closer to where I lived.
