we only update old textures if someone deems them to be subpar and creates a replacement for it, then it goes through 2 voting stages before it goes into the pack. nostalgia shouldn't prevent better textures from getting in, especially considering we rarely get any comments about how new textures over time cause users to be disjointed and disconnected from the pack

since this isn't a traditional texture pack, where a single person creates a "wholly new vision", and upscaling naturally comes with various interpretations between people, changes will inevitably be made

ultimately, better looking textures trumps keeping a status quo
