#Sniffers Evolved Into Both Chickens And Sea Turtles
98 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Mammals evolved from reptiles. And the sniffer looks like a mammal like reptile. So they are probaly a bridge animal like the platypus irl.
I think tho that the possibility that the turtels are closely related to sniffers or sniffer having evolved from turtels is not small
Simply because the sniffers look biologicaly the most similiar to an turtle
Well, they have the shells, their eggs look surprisingly similar, but they make mention of chickens which confuses me.
It's like, they give us hints of it's nature, but it looks like a turtle, and that shell on its back makes me more confused.
They also have a beak
Turtels also have beaks
And the platypus also has a beak and is often confused to be related to birds. Even tho its a bridge animal betwen reptiles and mammals.
Yeah, I have a feeling it's like, the ones who remained on land turned into chickens and the eggs being buried under water were forced to adapt (E-turning into sea turtles)
There are no sea sniffers
Look at them, they have feet made for walking on land not for swimming
Also something dosent evolve from a reptile into a mammal like reptile and then back to a reptile
What are you talking about? The eggs are in ocean ruins
(Now that I think about it. Them being hexapods is so special that they probal arent mammals, birds or reptiles, but its own thing)
To be more precise, in ocean ruins chests
Meaning somebody brought those eggs into the chests
Yup, I suspect the "ancient builders" are far more ancient than we make them out to be.
Also, I want to note that the sniffer has a shell, which is exclusive to few animals, mostly sea faring. I say it's very likely based on their characteristics that when their young were under water, over time, the animals inside were forced to adapt to the environment.
Also the amount of flur they have would make them get a cold rlly quick if they get wet
What shell ?
Yk there are alot of ancient animals that are still alive irl
Like turtels, sharks, crocodiles and snakes for exampel
And even now extinct animals existed at the same time as human civilisations in the past
For exampel the mammoths were alive at the same time the pyramids were build
Also ancient builders is a terribel name, since nothing suggests they were ancient or oriented to/specialised in building. Lets just call them humans, because they are litterly just humans
Well, yeah, that's true, I just call them what others have called them
I do want to say that said animals also went through evolution and are effectively different. Those are just animals that have made the littlest amount of evolutionary changes to themselves "Same thing with the coelacanth."
I mean yeah, but they were literally called ancient in the trailer. in-fact they're technically extinct without our help.
the sniffer was suppose to have gone extinct not to long ago, right?
like, it’s found in shipwrecks, which themselves can’t be that old
could be convergence evolution, also where did the extra limbs go?
I am speculating that the sniffer evolved from the turtel
Not the oposit way around
But we need more information on the sniffer
And we only get it when its released
hm, aquatic land animals rarely evolve back into land dwellers, but it could make sense
We litterly evolved from semi aquatic animals ._.
you have a point but i mean that land animals who return into water and then come back is rare
Hehe, yeah whales are kind of weird evolution wise
Yeah, whales are just kind of the first thing that popped into my head
completely fair
but why chickens?
Hey, sorry for the heavily late response. Ok so basically in the actual trailer, they're compared to chickens, and they happen to have a yellow beak, which is only a trait that that some species of birds have.
They've done similar things with the warden, and other mobs before.
There litterly wcist turtels with a yellow beak ._.
Also tiny agnis said that they arent birds
Dinosaurs weren't birds
Not technically
They just evolved into birds
There's one, and it's the box turtle, and it doesn't really even have a yellow beak
It's the box turtle
Also, fun-fact, birds and turtles are related
so are humans and sponges
Actually, that's pretty cool
all life on earth is related
At some point in time, yes.
But I was meaning that turtles are most closely related to crocodilians and birds, which is funny because when I learned that, I thought it was just convergent evolution
I'm not saying that my theory is correct (in-fact I don't believe it at all) I'm just saying that it's just what I noticed and thought I would call out.
definition of a bird: a dinosaur who can fly, or is a descendant of a flying dinosaur
they aren’t more related than we are to them, but they are closer to crocodiles than we
sorry for the german text
Schildkröten = turtles; Schlangen = snakes; Eisechsen = lizards; Krokodiles = crocodile; Vogel= bird and Säugetiere = mammals
because it was convergent evolution. it would need the carnivorous dinosaurs to have a beak too, which they dont have
for this to happen all dinosaurs would need to have a beak
Bruh what is Sniffers
I can give you links to studies if you want
Also I want to note the birds are reptiles so that's not true at all.
so are dinosaurs
k
Hold on, I'm going to have to DM them to you because they're not posting on here.
true
im thinking sniffers are a branch from a early archosaur
[ancestor of modern reptiles, dinosaurs which birds evolved within that group]
sniffers kind of look like Psittacosaurus
but with more grass like fur
http s://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psittacosaurus
also not much of a tail
on the sniffer
psittacosaurus does have a beak like the sniffer
the Minecraft evolutionary tree is finally taking shape wow.
i have my own theory regarding if ancient builders and villagers descend from a ancient primate and ways to find out that common ancestry tree but thats offtopic for this
well that can’t be that early
they are found in 19th century style boats for christ sake
either those ships are thousands to millions of years old, or the sniffer is not as ancient as we’re thinking
but once it wins the mob vote and is added, we can’t really know everything there is about him
The thing is, they're made out to be "ancient by Mojang" that's what they're saying at least.
Until we get more info about sniffers (and when the community votes them into the game), we can’t really say for sure what they mean by that. Maybe “ancient” is just a fun exaggeration to make the mob seem more interesting (much funner than just calling it an “old mob”). Or maybe we are misjudging the time scale when they say “ancient”, after all this word could just mean “old and no longer in existence” within this context
not necessarily the thousands or millions of years old to make evolution into another mob justifiable
Of course, i'm not saying their ancient. Honestly I think the sniffers lore isn't going to be revealed in the slightest till they add it in-game. I did want to pose a question though based on details I noticed. For instance, the sniffer could be a mob that lived w/ the ancient mobs of Minecraft but we're hunted to extinction or smth. Idk, well just have to see where everything goes.
since sniffers are presumable found in sunken ships (and possibly other man made structures), perhaps this was species that the ancient builders used for some purpose, and for whatever reason this species could not survive without the ancient builders once her civilization collapsed--causing the species to go extinct with her lack of human care
Yeah, sounds pretty legit honestly, overall. I think one thing is, we don't really have a timeline of exactly how old everything is in-game.
