Gotta be accels
Yeah accels in black grey, used to skate a similar colour way in 2003/2004
hell yeah
is the new reissue slimmer?
are you in skaters over 30?
someone made a GIF out of the sequence photos and posted it in skaters over 30 facebook group, closest we have to the footage so far.
its gnarly
Oooooh that's interesting, I'm patient though, I'll wait for the official footage 🙏
I just started practicing at night its low key soothing asf
Haven’t been on a board since breaking my back, 10 years later almost 30 the itch to get another board is back.
Do it, i broke my ankle in February and had to get 2 plates 9 screws and a bar in it, 100% loved to get back into skating i still cant do anything yet but the freedom of just riding is worth it
no, the 'og' aren't slimmer, feels the same.
are there many of us over 30 in here? 😄
.
im 29 lol
I'm turning 51 in a couple months. 😁
irl skating is kinda boring, it is hard and realistic but i don't rlly like the lack of speed/launch glitches, 5/10
also how to quickdrop?
hello guys , i'm looking to get into skating irl this time . how much should i expect to spend for a full setup and any brand recommendations for trucks etc ? (based in europe btw)
They need to add impervatek
that guitar is sick too
Can anyone tell me what the gums for the trucks called?
You talking about the bushings?
Thankss
Yeah
Could u tell me how am I supposed to know which to buy is it depends only on weight or there are sizes too (besides the softness)
dont think about it too hard bro
if you want to have an easier time turning get soft bushings
if you like riding super light trucks get hard ones
I think I’ll get medium softness but like I’m just confused on how to choose with the numbers and stuff
this goes for all the parts - watch a lot of skate videos and whatever pro you think is coolest, skate whatever brand they ride for
real
you're looking at like 170 euro or something like that tho @dry geyser
im riding slappy trucks, spitfire wheels, and a black label deck
that's just my preference tho
yo guys, joke s aside im getting interested in skating, i'mma get a skate soon, any tips i should know?
Also depends on where u from
In my country u can’t get a decent skateboard for less then 300 dollars
Ffs
Yeah shi sucks
support your local skateshop
don't watch braille
go skate
I used to ride and now I’m thinking about getting back to it so I just ordered new grip and new bushings
replacing grip? nightmare
oh okay, also what should i learn first and last?
just buy a board and go skate bro
Yeah fr but my grip been trough so much since I stopped skating I have to
okay, thanks alot
atp just buy a new board if the board is old
the deck at least
As I said in my country is just to expensive to me rn And my board pretty new I switched it a few days before I stopped
ah
Thanks !
Comunidad hispanohablante hay por aquí? Patinemos en grupo!! 🛹🛹🛹
solo ingles porfa 😔 pero no tenemos aquí
it would be cool though
Okay so, what does the little tube come in that goes in between the bearings on the wheel?
I thought they came with the bearings
those are bearing spacers but you don't need them
Is it better to have them
no
Okay
i've never met anyone that actually uses those things
Lol
more often than not sets of bearings dont even come with spacers
Yeah
It also looks like these bearings wont fit these wheels
I just already had these bearings
Was hoping i wouldnt have to buy new ones. It seems like they might fit if it force them in
they fit you just wont be able to put them in by hand lol
Okay
use the truck to press them in
Yes that works, thank you
what size are those they look big
Mandeme un mensaje
They are, lemme get the size real quick
70mm 77a @tender horizon
They look sweet
I like em, but im gonna need to get a spacer cause im putting them on a regular board
Which means i wont be able to use my blue screws :/
falling lowkey hurts i still b getting back up tho
thats the spirit
hey guys so i wanna get back into skating and one thing that made me stop skating because I was trying my first stair set and I messed up my shoulder pretty bad and after that I had a pretty bad mental block when I was skating do y'all have any tips or things i should do to get back into skating?
just skate
take it a day at a time and have fun
skateboarding will always be 98% mental and u have to be willing to go through that
Anyone got wheel rec for sliding on street
(My street is rough and riddled with rocks/potholes)
First day back at it I bailed and rolled across my garage floor lol. Got a mean scrape on my arm haha.
Feels good though. Nice to get out there, and so long as you aren't seriously injured it's all good
Just land on ur back/shoulder blade tbh that’s really the method
Speaking of getting injured I just fractured my wrist skating 😭😭😭
got this today from felipe gustavo at an event
looks so worn and i love it
im thinking about buying my first board
My dad’s skateboard that is primarily used by me
and when i say “primarily used by me” its mostly used for falling with how bad i am at skating
It’s literally barely used
So if you skate irl, how old if you don’t mind saying? I’m early 30s female and want to start irl but it’s scary putting myself out there 😭
Me. 33. Been skating since I was 5 tho lol. I’d say you can do it! If you’re in a city or metro area, find your local chill street spot and people will welcome you with open arms.
Gotta get used to falling down and go slow with the basics. I highly recommend getting some Skater Trainers so you can develop your ollie skill safely.
Sick cheers man. I live in pretty much the opposite of a city lmaoo not quite countryside but it’s a fairly wealthy small market town with mostly retired or elderly residents 😅 we have like 3 skateparks though but it’s all like teens that go 🫣 cheers for the shout though
Didn’t even know they existed cheers mate 👌🏼
No problem! I wish you all the best of luck.
ive been looking to begin skating and dont know what board to get. can anyone let me know any decent entry level ones? feel free to dm me if you have links or any of that kind of thing
25+ years experience, skated my whole life. I personally don’t think skateboarding is that sophisticated. You can get any board/trucks/wheels you want. They all do the same thing. What I would do is go to a Skateshop and look at them in person. They will let you stand on them and see if you like the size. Skating nowadays has gone the route of big (wide) boards. I personally find it easier to skate on 8.0 inch boards. But others will say bigger. It’s all personal preference. I have many setups for whatever I’m feeling that day lol. So I have 8s, 8.75s, 9s, and a 10inch. You can get whatever size. I usually go with whatever graphic looks cooler haha.
Deck width is important based on height and shoe size and what's comfortable for each person. Keep in mind the wider the board the heavier the deck will be so if you go under 8 inches it gets easier to pop.
fair enough lmao. i wasnt sure if it was like guitaurs where there are better ones and worse ones so thats why i was asking. cheers mate!
I’d say it’s all relative. 80s-early 90s boards were 8.5+. Late 90s early 00s. Board sizes were 7.4-7.75. It was in style to skate skinny boards whether you had a size 7 or size 11 shoe size. It didn’t matter back then and it shouldn’t matter now. Only difference is no one is selling anything under 8 these days lol.
It's one of those things that don't really matter but can still make a big difference for some people.
That's sad to hear, my local shops mostly stock 7.25-8.5.
Is it weird I can’t do Ollie’s but I can do nollies
Opa algum BR? Chama pra dar aquela jogada em call 🙂
Shop board complete or a blank complete is all you need if you want to stay cheaper. More than enough
Then dial in in size. I’m up to like an 8.3 and still figuring out what I like after yeaaaaars
does anyone wanna play skate jam on skate. pick what ever spot you want
I thought skating was easy like riding a bike but I literally fell off one I just bought and rolled down a hill
i hit my first real ollie last week but it was stationary, skating with friends is alot more fun than skating alone
Yea you quickly learn skating hurts sometimes 😂lol my first time working up the courage to go to a skate park I tried going down a ramp fell face planted chipped my tooth and broke my wrist but I was back at it next day wrapped up hand and a jacked up smile 🤷🏾♂️💯
I like longboarding
any midwest skater ? Illinois ?
Where’s the best place to buy custom built boards?
i still can't believe joslin went back and did it
waiting for the footy is going to be even more unbearable than with foys crooked grind
The best place is dont.
Go to your local skate shop (not a zumies) and talk to the dudes working and build one that way
I don’t have a local shop :(
Nvm, it looks like I actually do.
It looks like they opened this year, actually 😂
yea just walk in and they will get u right, they will even put it together for u if u want
but id recommend doing it yourself, gonna wanna learn eventually anyways
is skatehut website any good for prebuilt boards? i dont got a local skate shop, and i live in the uk so if anyone has any reccomendations hmu
and for customs is skatepro any good?
any reccomendations for a good starter board?
dont worry abt it to much it dont matter
i get all my decks free from my local skate shop since all the people there r my mates
and no matter what deck i skate its all the same :)
Guys, i want to buy a skateboard (my first) and i'd really like it to look like mine in game, do you know if there's a brand or the same replica IRL ?
(Sorry for my english, i'm french)
I have a board rn, but it's years old and has been left in the rain for months on end
just get a cheap board ngl
Ive picked up skating again and I want smth cheap but good
cant skate a waterlogged board
Yh
ive never baught a board so i have no idea
Im mainly just trying tricks on it
can skate anything aslong as it isnt waterlogged and skateboard shaped
i hate this login queue 🙏
Local shop decks are normally cheap compared to pro models!
fairs
ill have a look over the weekend probably
i just need something that i like and feels comfortable
i dont know a lot when i comes to skateboarding, so i dont know what is good or not
what would be a good budget to aim for?
like 50 gbp?
You want to aim for small shops instead of large brand shops. If you want to learn flat ground and street go for a smaller board (8-8.25in deck). If you want to skate transition and ramps a larger board is always recommended (8.5-8.75in deck).
I would say a shop deck should range from 25-40 dollars.
Pro models generally 50-75 dollars!
alright, thank you!
Yeah and honestly it's all preference so I would just go in and see what you like!
ill prob go something like 8.5 since its a mid ground between the ramps and street stuff
and since i have like size 8 UK, so i need the bigger board
I really want to get back into riding but don’t know where to ride in the uk north east area
id say just look up online for a local stakepark, or find an empty parking lot to practice in
im new myself and im pretty lucky to be a bus ride away from a pretty good skatepark
I just feel like the uks vibe is off though like I don’t enjoy the company of the people in my area
fairs
im uk as well and sometimes it can feel like the vibe is off
but id say give it a try, and if the vibe is till of then i would go look for an indoor skatepark or smth
Yeah I’ll give it a try I love skateboarding aswell but just feel the weather and some people ruin it
yeah, some people can ruin it, like at the skatepark i was talking about, i walked past it and saw some kids pouring dishsoap into the bowl and sliding down it, luckilly its rained and cleared all the soap away
but some people like that can ruin it, but its best to ignore those people and focus on yourself and your progress, i know its easier said then done, but its the best thing you can do
Yeah or you get little gangster wannabe kids doing your head in
yeah dude, personally i just tell them to f**k off, and since im wider than kids my age, they usually listen lol
Damn sounds good where you from
south wales
im still a teen but i look older, have a deepish voice and can be intimidating so kids usually leave me alone
Damn I’m ages away bro
im short and fat tho lol, i aint no looksmaxxing dude
What skateboard you got
red
idek dude
its old and beat up asf, but im just using it whilst i look into getting a new one
Yeah man a board is a board in my eyes
and im mainly just using it to get down an ollie and pushing before i try anything in the park lol
Yeah I still can’t Ollie I can drop in and skate but can’t Ollie
I normally just practice manuals and hopping off curbs
im mainly just feeling them out and trying to get my footwork down
Yeah I learned the other day that it’s best to have your feet an inch back from the edge of the board as mine use to hang over the edge and it really messed me up
yeah same, my board is like a 6.75 inch (eyeballing it rn)
and that WAYY to small for me
but im not to sure tho
I’ve got an 8.25
its prob bigger than that tho
Most like 8.5 but tbh I don’t like my board so big
Yeah that makes sense
mhm
who's shredding today?
i used my board once in the rain when i knock on it it sounds a little thuddy, is it still ok tho?
Sounds like the griptape is soaked. Just press it with a towel and hit it with a hairdryer.
Bro I can't Ollie to save my life, it's so annoying
be honest, is it worth it to fix my broken skateboard if i only have time to skate 1 day a week?
the only thing left is the deck
i think i just hit my first ollie / ollies
but i cant hit them consistently cuz my sh*tty skateboard is 7 years old, waterlogged, rusted bolts, and the trucks keep coming loose
It’s gets easier the more you do it , it took me over 100 tries just to hit the heel flip
I think it took me nearly 1000+ tries to land a tre flip. Skating is hard
Yo same bro
I hit my first couple of moving ones last night only like 3-5 tho :(
Anyone in NJ/NY skate? Like actually skate?
hey guys, when i try to land a pop shuvit, my foot always lands next to the board, any tips please?
which foot? and fs or bs
IRL Skate Stream feel free to stop by, we appreciate you're time.
https://www.twitch.tv/rawskateboards
is there a way to reduce pain in the sole of the foot not pushing?
i skate around school campus and after like 5 minutes it starts getting really sore and i just need like a 30 second break
do i just keep skating and it’ll get stronger on its own or are there some exercises i can do
What shoes are you rockin? Get some insoles if you can or hit up local thrift stores and see if you can find some vans with pop cush, be like finding a needle in a hay stack tho
oh i should do that or at least try different shoes
im wearin my beat up nike sb nyjahs
like 2 years old maybe thats why
i thot they would be meant for skating tho
They are! Mfs tend to rip through shoes doing flip tricks before the soles go, skate shoes are more designed for durability imo, but sb's are hit or miss, i rock sb blazers without any issues, but from just trying different shoes i feel that nike doesnt have too good of insoles to begin with, theyre not bad but i bet they wear pretty fast lol
the outside is fine except my shoes can talk
are there any good reeboks for skating
Shoe goo big dawg, itll get ur shi right
I got no clue bout reeboks tho sorry mane
chat i stopped skating for 2 years and now i cant push with my right and only my left
that’s wild
hoq do i fix
is this supposed to happen?
Sandro Dias gonna drop in on this in 2 days lol
Straight out of the game, insanity lol
Chum bucket
not in real life, no
looking for player play this game and doing challenge together daily
Bro my cousin broke my board and I'm so upset about it, I won't be able to afford a new one for monthhhss
He's not going to replace it for you?
I live in his house for a discounted amount, so I'm not too pushy on demanding he do so
A new deck down here is only 75 with griptape, and I have my trucks and wheels, but with bills it's still going to be months
Dude 😭
I mean I told him he could try it, but it had been a decade since he skated
go get a shop deck they are usually way cheaper
my local sells them for 40
That's what I'm looking at
I've even tried to make deals with people to pay them back later
Wild
Being a skater in a rural town is rough folks 😔
real af
mini ramp build time
I feel like I never make progress even tho I skate like at least 3 times a week
left foot, bs
same haha
And skating is the only thing I have :/
we gonna be good one day trust me
Anyone got any tips for me for Ollie's? I can do them decent and consistent but they look not right like I got the pop from my back foot but my front foot doesn't get the memo to slide and make the board even mid air so I need some help
When you are starting out, don't have your front foot too far back. Keep it somewhat close to the nose and just push down with your front foot after you pop. Your wanting to bring the tail up by pushing the nose down. As you progress, move your front foot more back and you will find that your foot will naturally slide towards the nose after the pop
its only my front foot with the slide i just need to practice the movement but i got everything else right
Practice sitting down on a bench or something. At the end of the day, you just gotta keep practicing and you will only get better and better. If one thing isn't working, try doing it slightly different and you might just clock it
need a good board to buy i want to get into skating
can you send a video? an issue i had was that i wasn’t lifting my back foot straight up to give the back of the board room to even out but i’d need to see it to tell if that’s it
Any board. I really do like deathwish or hockey
But don`t buy that ebay/amazon crap. Unless you are willing to sacrifice a few weight being added and it does save you a lot of money.
You gotta really slide, bend close to your chest and kick that front foot, more than you think. Try to stare at your front foot the whole time you ollie too, goes for any tricks. Maybe it will help or it will not
lmao i remember learning kickflips and used to stare at my front foot
crazy how much it tricks your body into doing the trick right
im gonna try that next time i go to practice it sounds helpful asf
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2574833635 hey guys come check out my streams on twitch i stream skate pretty much everyday im really trying to get my name out their as I’ve created some pretty nasty lines that ik are viral at least this one is I’m streaming at 7:30 est today come chat and chill
people please this is the IRL skate chat not skate. the game clips
I’m gonna land a 50-50 for the first time today. I can feel it in my old man bones
Does anyone know anything about Welcome boards
We gonna be building this weekend
happening now https://youtu.be/bZHZNsqNLzk

Was incredible haha, straight out of the video game
I wonder what they're doing with the ramp after lol
Landed my first ever grind today. Over the moon with dopamine rn lmao
Nice man how did you go into it? What type grind? 🔥
Frontside 50-50 on a box ledge. For being ancient (over 30 😂) and never having done them when I used to skate it felt unreal
Fkn yeeeeee Ive yet to try those, I can really boardslide tho
That’ll be my next one. They seem a bit easier to chicken out on and idk if I should rip it on the flat bar or the ledge first
theyre easier on flatbars forsure

Just out of curiosity can someone recommend some skate shoes, I’ve been using just old skool vans but they lasted about 2 weeks before my socks had holes 🤣
New Balance is nice and prob my next shoe. I skate the Nike SB Nyjah 3s and like them. Guy I was skating with today has Asics and doesn’t super like them.
Cheers brother, my mate skates Nike sb, but I’ve always used vans that was what I have always used just sick of buying new ones every couple of weeks
i’m currently eyeing a pair of white emerica mutes
Just looking at the new balance mate, I think that’s what I’m going to try, they look nice
did you buy the skate vans
or just regular old skools
The new balances would have been what I bought if I didn’t get a smokin deal on the Nyjahs
cuz if u bought regular old skools thats ur problem
i jsut realized how badly the soundtrack needs a dinosaur jr song
vans are really weird, they have like 3 different lines of shoes and its quite difficult to tell them apart sometimes, you got the ones designed for action sports then the the regular ones, most of the main line ones have the name distinction old skool vs skate old skool but some are a little less clear like eras and authentics, visually the exact same shoe but the eras last months on a board and authentics last weeks, then you've got ones like the gilbert crocketts, 114's, kyle walkers, that are purely skate/bmx shoes
personally i love vans especially the ones with waffle cups, ive tried different brands like etnies and just wasnt really a fan, gilbert crocketts and 114s were my favourite (despite 114's being technically bmx shoes)
I’ve been wearing Nike sb high top blazer to skate in. Expensive but I like the look and haven’t sprained my ankles since I started 8 years ago
Any tips for beginners?
what kinda wheels are you guys running specifically the guys in countries like the uk where our pavements are awful, i need something that can roll nicely over rough ground but still flips decently well
Sounds like you want hardness. 99a would be good.
ngl you kinda have to pick either riding smoother or flipping your board but look into ricta clouds
yea unless ur on legit cobblestone 99a is fine
its not even about riding smooth its more just like my current wheels are fantastic on concrete parks but in like a slightly less than perfect car park i lose speed so quickly
you can try skating a bigger wheel and slightly softer
like a 54-56mm 97a or something
i'll try and see what i can find in that range
it depends what you're struggling with
Mainly just turning
whats your truck tightness like?
loosen up your trucks and use your ankles
They are slightly loose but I can't adjust them yet because I haven't gotten a skate tool yet
Yeah probably, my dad is a mechanic
he'll probably have one somewhere then
you'll wanna loosen them as much as feels comfortable, it will make it harder to learn tricks short term but it makes you a better skater in the long term
Thanks, I found one that works.
loose trucks ftw 🔥
mine almost wobble lmao
i gotta loosen mine off a little i been edging it off slowly
damn next step for you is taking your bushings out like that one pro
the thing i struggle with if its too loose is getting certain foot positions, i know the correct thing to do is position your weight so you can ride straight with whatever position but im not good at it
@stable trellis dont go too too lose when you're starting out just loose enough you can turn easily and its making you a tad tiny bit uncomfortable
if you set your trucks up like para is explaining you will get wheel bite and die
wrong guy sorry 😭
lowkey i dont even get wheelbite like that
smaller wheels and tall slappys
yeah but i dont wanna make a new skater eat sugar because of something i said 😭
i got marks there and mine arentt even thatttt loose
pretty sure thats how jaws stuck that massive stairset i forgot the name of
It being looser is definitely helping a lot
that's how lots of skaters stick huge sets, joslin did it for el toro
yeah thats not surprising at all
speaking of joslin i cant wait to finally see that tre flip footy omg
if your streets are nice using your board as a form of transportation is a great way to build foundational skills too but sometimes that isnt possible
My street is really flat but it's a pretty busy street
do you live in one of those american stroad towns
I've been longboarding for a couple years now and want to get into skateboarding to learn something new and was just curious if there are any brands for decks I should avoid, and if there's any specific technique that's best to solidify while first learning
everyone has their own opinions but honestly as long as you arent buying a walmart complete or a temu blank its pretty hard to buy a bad quality deck, if it costs around the $80 mark (pre discount), is from a brand featured in skate 1/2/3 or your local skate shop stocks it its likely to be a good quality board. remember almost all legitimate brands use 1 out of the same 3 manufacturers as everyone else anyways. only brand id stay away from is ripndip because their owner is kinda an awful person, they still make solid boards though.
as for solidifying technique you probably know this from longboarding but pick a stance, goofy or regular (theres nothing wrong with goofy, i ride goofy, tony hawk rides goofy, a bunch of other well known skaters ride goofy, the name comes from a 1930s mickey mouse surfing cartoon, its not an insult or anything) and stick with it, push with your back foot, mongo pushing isnt as bad as people make out but it looks kinda ugly and it sucks functionally because you're really imbalanced, and you have to adjust your back foot before doing a trick instead of just putting it on the tail. other than that you're all good
currently before i invest in a proper setup my plan is to just get comfortable riding on the cheap board i have i can however foresee myself spending… a lot on apparel i’ve found clothes from girl i want already
the cheap board is still “decent” it’s a enjoi complete from zumiez
how to pick a board
watch a bunch of skate videos
find the pro you like the most
skate wherever brand it is and build your own preference from there
don't overthink it that's how you stay a noob forever
i just picked a graphic i liked originally i was gonan go with hookups but was told they’re not great and are more art pieces
just find a board you like and go have fun
i do still want that hookups deck but the girl board i found is solid and cheaper too
i don't know how hookups boards skate and you wont either till u try em
thats the fun in skateboarding: limitless choice
yeah that is very true
damn I was picking by scrolling the zumiez website while half listening to a youtube video lol
also if you can please support your local skateshop if you have one, screw zumiez but if thats all you have its understandable
I'm sure there is one I'm just scrolling it to see rough prices
i was gonna buy from skatewarehouse and then get the trucks from crailtap mostly cause transportation will be an issue since i’m moving soon
i hate girl boards cuz theyre way too flat for me
I just jumped on CCS and found the board I liked the look of, from a brand I was familiar with.
(I know CCS isn't local, technically but I was in the boonies and it's better than some.)
dont even buy a whole new setup atp enjoi is decent enough, just replace whatever you need or want to replace at the time
literally if the deck is still good just replace the other parts
enjoi isnt my go-to by any means but i wouldnt turn one down if i needed a spare
honestly for me skateboards are entirely disposable/wear items
everything except from the trucks eventually needs replacing
well trucks too but it takes way longer
since i don’t really vibe with the deck i was gonna give the board to my coworker cause i don’t really wanna deal with lugging it down with me when i move
I may also look for a width a bit closer to my longboard just for the sake of comfort
in 3 years ive gone thru wheels, trucks, boards etc 🤣 sometimes i just grab a new set of trucks just to try something new
not like a 9.5 but i just feel uncomfortable on my brother's 7.75
use that as an excuse to try different stuff id recommend trying a different brand of deck every time to try something different and find something you like
what size shoe are you
7.75s are awful
US men's 9
id recommend an 8.5 or bigger honestly
yeah try 8.5
i know i had independent suggested for trucks but my first board ever had royals on it and i really liked the way that felt
i went from a 775 to a 825 to a 85 and i only noticed the benefits
8.5 is genuinely perfect its crazy
i’m an 8-8.5 men’s and i was told an 8 would be fine but to try an 8.25 first
8.25 is okay
like when i got my anti hero the fresh griptape for flip tricks was a bigger difference than the width
youd be hard pressed to find royals nowadays but theyre still around
the only difference i felt in the width was i felt more comfortable standing and landing on it
yeah so far i’ve found them on crailtap which seems to be the main site for girl and chocolate
indys are good i rode them religiously for years
ventures were my second choice
i got some booky ahh sushi trucks
i'm riding a set of slappy trucks right now and theyre genuinely the best trucks ive ever skated, venture hollows are close second
cause i couldnt afford something nice like indies at the time
i wanted to like thunders but i just cant, i've tried them and they've just never worked out for me
part of my decision making for my board is i wanna maximize my enjoyment to help make sure i stick with it and part of that is choosing brands im fond of
it really sucks to see a lot of the brands i liked as a kid don’t exist anymore i was absolutely heartbroken over cliche
the harsh reality is you really just gotta try new stuff
yeah i definitely looked around if i don’t like the girl deck i’m gonna try krooked ice always loved their graphics
plus my first board was a krooked dan drehobol pro model
if you like krooked, take a look at real and antihero cuz they all come from the same woodshop
the thing about how fast boards wear out though is you have that opportunity at your fingertips like compared to say bmx frames you gotta try other peoples bikes, ask their frame geometry, try and predict what youd like etc etc with skateboard decks you sorta just try different stuff yk
i'm skating a black label deck rn and its cool
i know blood wizard is a new brand that looked interesting to me as well
blood wizard is dope
and with my bike i know im getting off topic here its sorta like i like my frame enough to not spend $300 on another one but would i like another one more? with my board its like "yeah im about half way through this one, i might try a deathwish board next" yk?
they very much appeal to the metalhead side of me
hot take i hate deathwish and baker cuz they always snap on me
sadly no longer with us though
i can't stand blind or almost either, too stiff for me and i hate that new deck feeling lmao
i hate powell flight decks for the same reason
honestly at this point my only parameters for picking a deck are is it 8.25 and do i like the graphic i gotta ride more to really form opinions and figure out what i like and want from a board
seems 8.25 would be a good starting point for me width wise
ive also really wanted to skate this zero deck for a long time for no other reason than i like the graphic and used to use it all the time in skate 3 as a kid
exactly
thats where im at right now
i can sit here all day and tell you what i think is good but nobody will know better than yourself after actually building your own preferences
its not something you can measure either like its literally just how it feels under your feet
absolutely plus if i try something out and it’s garbage the only person i cna blame is myself and realistically i’m at a place i can afford to risk $80 every now and then he’ll i bought a $400 shirt not too long ago
bakers are good
literally and most of the people who do try and say with certainty that a certain brand is good or bad are inexperienced, biased or talking from anecdotal experience
@graceful veldt have you ever tried a symmetrical board before
those gundam decks from powell peralta looks so sick
i tried an ishod twin tail once and didn't like it that much
messed with my flick and i couldn't get used to it
i tried some guys at the skatepark before about a year ago and its was offputting but i kinda liked it
i think i would like it if i skated a lot of nollie but nahhh
yeah i get that
i NEED to skate a heroin egg though
i’m kinda unsure on going with the rictas i have picked out atm
spitfire is the only wheel i will ever recommend ever
aye aye 🫡 so long as they got soemthing blue im sold
i may actually have a spitfire shirt lying around somewhere haha got it at goodwill
just make sure they're formula 4 spitfires
yooo those sonic ones are fire
you won't need new wheels for 9999999 years
i was looking at ricta chrome cores originally
i will never ever ever ever not skate spitfire no joke
the price on spitfires is a little scary ngl
a lot of the guys at the park by my old college rocked heroin boards, they're really popular in the uk
its worth it for the life and quality you get from them
that’s fair
i don't play about spitfire bro best wheels on the planet 😭
the eggs are strange i remember i was at said park but i only had my bike with me and somehow still got involved in a game of skate so i had to try and kickflip one of them
i need to find my spitfire shirt now
they're really odd to look down at
i kinda like that honestly
they're fun
yeah it reminds me to take it easy and have fun
so this seems to be the setup i believe i jsut gotta wait a bit and set aside some extra money
bones swiss okay mr moneypants whats wrong with skating reds like the rest of us huh?
gang you do not need bones swiss but if you got it like that then go ahead 😭😭
i figured i might as well but you right i can go with reds
bronson g3s
i’m still astounded i got my first board ever for free and this dude had bones swiss in it and he jsut gave it to me for free… i was a kindergartener
do you think he forgot?
no clue he was a high school kid
i'm using bones swiss rn but they were um. "gifted" to me by a zumiez employee friend
what are those $200 ceramic bearings?
i still have the deck but the wheels, bearings and trucks are all ruined
only ethical way to work at zumiez
YUP 🫡
the manager of my local zumiez is in a metalcore band
they were my first ever concert
we dont even have a zumiez or equivalent in the uk
theres barely any skate shops it kinda sucks
oh also i’m looking at some emerica mutes for shoes i’ve only ever used etnies or vans in the past and i’m jsut tired of seeing vans as a reformed emo kid
try last resorts
i just think they’re ugly as sin tbh i LOVE chunky skate shoes
i was a huge dc fan as a kid
I would wear superstars but you wouldn't catch me dead wearing the same shoes as Scott pilgrim
i’ve also been big on lakai as well
granted its more the bmx side of me who likes the wafflecups but still
they dont hurt my footsies as much as vulcs
ive never tried lakais i never found a pair i liked the look of that much
there was a blue pair in skate 3 tbat i wore every single playthrough those and the dc match were my two favorites
skating a pair of lakai cambridges rn and theyre doodoo
idk i've never liked lakai all that much
i’m so tempted to add a long sleeve and a bunch of stickers to my crailtap cart to get free shipping
i’m really liking the look of the emericas so even if they’re not great to skate they are jsut visibly nice to look at
yo guys
im not really active
but i wanted some help on choosing my skate's brand
oh also im just starting
@unkempt patio
this is all you need
make skater friends and have fun, don't overthink it
i definitely think i’m gonna ride medium to tight trucks the enjoi board i have is too wobbly
EMBRACE the wobble
i simply cannot
When will season 1 be released?
this is the irl skateboarding chat
just answer the question bruh pls its just a game
October
alright thx
But yeah @graceful veldt was correct wrong place too ask question lol
It doesn't change the fact that it's just a game and here it's just a chat on a communication app.
So aggressive I hope your band fails 😅
this is the irl skateboarding chat
Don’t worry about him lad he’s just a bit lost lmao 🤣
hype
What was your first major skateboarding injury and how long did it take to recover?
I busted my knee on a vert ramp at the age of 14, it hasn't felt the same since.
Fractured skull and broken collarbone with separated shoulder with plenty of road rash. And took about half a year for my shoulder to get back right and close to 3 months in an arm sling, and with my skull, whenever my brain stopped bleeding.
Woah this isn't a contest. Just kidding. Seriously though I'm sorry that happened, glad to know you're still alive.
Same with you homie. You ever tried any knee braces?
It's been a long time since, but yeah I wore one for around 6 months. I just haven't brought myself to get back on a board.
broken nose, fractured rib, fractured leg
Grinding a rail?
yeah popsicled myself a few times lmao
Oof, you're a champ. Rails are my favourite though, staying away from big stairs. lol
i love the big stairs
went down an 11 not too long ago
I should probably get back to it sometime, there's a local concrete park near me that has been tempting me for a decade or more.
i totally get you dude i snapped my old deck so i’ve been wanting to get a new one
hi guys, should i skate if i have heel and ankle problems
or should i try to fix them first
wym heel and ankle problems
i used to do it even thought i had those but the responsible thing to do is rest and heal up

coach frank ordered
It’s BACK!
🎮 IT’S TIME – skate 🛹
Hey, skate. community —
Piss your pants
problems with heels and ankles
they hurt and my left ankle can pop out at any time
should i atleast get my set up
i dont have anything for skating
fk it
yeah deffo
should i skate with my imaginary skateboard 😭
idk what i should buy tho
like what what size of the board i should get
how tall are you
6"1
go size 8.5 fastly
get an 8.5
i think thats hor its written
yeah
i found a board i liked but its 8.25
you must ride the 8.5
yeah
cuz it's cooler
if you’re heavy get a thicker board too
why is it wooden
yeah, english is not my first language and i forgot how that material is called
anyway, what are there numbers
they arent 8.5 or sum
thats length not width
those are cork insoles😭
yeah, first time seeing those
are they soft or on the softer side
Is this a good board?
get those stinky bones wheels out of there
Real?
Spitfire or die
I’ve never had a problem with bones whats the difference between them
I’ve used both but never really noticed
spitfire better 😼
is this a good deck then ?
i genuinely dont even know this brand
just experiment dawg
idk its the first site that popped up when i searched skateboard
But like is the setup of that board good
yea
yes
yes
Ok I haven’t built a board in a long time and wanted a second opinion thank you
i'm crying bro why are reds 25 dollars im gonna puke
everytime i get a new deck i switch up the brand
The price went down
i thought reds were so much more expensive
reds cost like 16-18 tho 😭
When I bought mine for my board I had to pay like 40
WHAT
this
It’s wild
i switched to big balls though
for just normal reds????
bro same😭
Yea
WTF
bro from where youre getting fkn robbed oh my god what
you could get one way cheaper
40 dollar pack of reds i actually fell to my knees bro thats criminal
I looked for both online and in stores and the in store was cheaper cause no shipping
Was a few years ago
My board
yall wanna see my two current boards?
should boards be this crooked ? i forgot the word for it
It gives room for the wheels
is this good for a beginner tho
Real
or sometimes the tail and nose have different amounts of concave or even board shape
yeah dude, dont worry about it too much, just get a board and start experimenting
youll figure out what works for you with time
Inshallah my brother whoever sold you those reds will receive Divine Punishment
Anything will be good for a beginner, go as cheap as you can without sacrificing quality
im not in a budget to experiment tho 😔
another board
whats your budget?
Bro I wish I could get them that cheap
i can help you out
about 600 bucks, but im still in school
For a board?
i dont want to spend all of it tho, for a couple of decks
600 gets you 3 full setups icl
whole setup (shoes too)
brother a setup for your deck should be around $100-160
Oh ok that makes more sense
You’d still be able to do a few setups
You can get complete pro setups around $150-$200
im not worried about clothes
i see i see, that makes more sense lmao
if youre just starting out you shouldnt get a bunch of new boards
My setup is only like 220 I think
yeah i know
i only want one since idk why i need multiple at one time
I’m building my board for my brother though as a gift
you could order a complete for like $70 if you wanna start
I hate completes
i'm sittin here talking about you getting scammed meanwhile a pair of slappys and a deck from the shop cost me $140 @halcyon shale
i heard chea boards are bad quality
I bought this board for like 260$
if youre just starting it honestly doesnt matter all that much
just dont get board from a supermarket or anything
So what is the actual difference between the wheels btw cause if they are actually better then I’ll switch them
Walmart boards lol
i skate spitfires
i just swear by spitfire is all
The board isn’t for me btw
lemme get my boards hold on
damn bro they aint 70 bucks
It’s for someone who is new to skating
Me and my brother used to skateboard when we were kids and he mentioned of kinda wanted one again so I’m building him one
But he hasn’t skated in a long time and can’t Ollie or anything anymore lol
helping europeans get into skating is so hard cuz depending where theyre at the closest skateshop is in another damn country 💔 and every online shop is doodoo
I have to use online cause if I use a skate shop the prices are horrible where I live
krux jumpscare
idk, skatedeluxe looks good for me
Cause where I live it’s like considered not really weird but an expensive thing
Shoulda added a trigger warning my bad
and i do have some skate shops in my city
paper mache kingpins 💔
you dont fw krux?
hell no
gimme some new to try
slappy, venture or indy
damn, i rly want these shoes but they are 45.5 and my foot size is 46 😔
What spitfire wheels
i liked krux when i was broke and 14 until i started snapping kingpins on em doing legit nothing
formula 4
What size
it dont really matter fr anywhere between like 51-54
idk mine seem fine, you be hitting big drops?
Thank you
not even just low impact shi and ledges
thats insane to me, mine seem fine. they been thru hell but theyre alright
i'm skating like 56mm but theyre worn down a bit
if they break ill try indy
btw do wheels matter
this the current setup
56mm formula 4 lock in fulls or something
them wheels THICK
yea theyre fat asf but theyre fun to ride over rougher parks with
are they soft?
nah like 99a
ii think i have the same 53 formula fours on my baker rn
conical fulls goat wheels honestly
slides feel so nice
GOAT
those look so good omg
They are like 20$ more than the other wheels but it’s fine lol
As long as it’s better
anyway, will my feet get cold with these shoes in the winter
these are the only bones wheels i own but i hate them cuz they make my board sound weird
sigh
for 20 dollars they will outlive the heat death of the universe so its worth
you fw straye?
any dh skaters in the chat
their shoes look dope but i havent tried yet
no, if i tried that id bail into a tree or something lol
the venturas are so nice
Are these trucks good
aces are cool
normally i wouldnt wanna wear slip ons to skate in but theyre so good
Anyone having problem with the game or just me?
try slappys
maintenance i believe
do yk when the games back up?
no idea
this is the irl skateboarding chat gang
These are the shoes I use
If I cared I wouldn’t be typing in ts
How expensive are they
gf bought me strayes for my bday awhile ago and dawg i will never wear another skate shoe
Cause I’m on a not so great budget
thats a lie, i skate vans
i work for vans so i skate those most of the time
i have way too many pairs
skating some dunks rn tho
I only have these
My stinky stompers
i swear by adidas superstars lowkey but my local shop doesnt have an adidas contract anymore
How expensive are slappys
can you tell i skate goofy
damn bro, what happened 😭
he was puttin in WORK
80kph meets asphalt, but only once
how did that happened
how do you even get in to that situation
You ever grab onto a car
no not like that
Massive hill?
@graceful veldt
yessss
you guys so cute
Or are there better ones
i like the hollows but theyre more expensive
I’ll look
I grabbed onto a car
how owuld you rate hollow trucks
I don’t have anything to record myself at all though like that
i only skate hollows honestly i skate up to a 8.75 for street so i like to keep my board as light as i can
what size shoe?
12
i got weak ass legs from a knee injury i neeeeed light trucks
this is the irl skateboarding chat
does indy have hollows?
yupp
oh hell yea, imma have to get some then
i have cheapy compound trucks on my main setup rn
theyre heavy
i rode indy hollows religiously for years until i started wanting to change stuff around
still love indy tho
whatchu recom?
hollow slappys fr
slappy trucks genuinely don't even need to be broken in it's crazy
the bushings are just stock perfect
you skate them loose or tight?
i skate loose asf
solid
make sure you assemble it
He’s gonna have a better board than me
Wdym
does skate warehouse assemble it for you?
They can but I’m not having them
hell yeah
W
My brother wants to assemble himself with me
hell yeah dude, you guys should try some grip art
That I don’t know much about
i dont either but i wanna try it
i wish street skaters would get into dh skating aswell. yall would have so much style freeriding mountains
like a line thru it
I just know how to put it together lol
there arent many hills around me
Oh like that yea it’s a possibility whatever my brother wants really
It’s gonna be his board
i am NOT a road rash merchant
this
its really not that bad once you know how to treat it
i will throw myself down a set of stairs but dh skaters have my respect cuz hell no 😭 some of them mfs going highway speeds
Is blood wizard a good brand I have zero experience with them
Yeah I can hit 40+ miles per hour but yall got me wrong if you think I'm turning at that speed or faster
literally
yea its cool
impact falls are way worse than some roadrash
Ok cause I just seen the wizard and thought it was funny
you gotta roll into them and embrace it
like bro this is one of my homies and i cant imagine doing this on a huge hill 😭
where you from?
north carolina (unfortunately)
ohio here
yeah but dh skating is more like training to stay safe and see beautiful locations
I have nothing for parks if I want to go to a park or anything I gotta drive like 2 hours
And all the streets are flat
i just moved back here from california and im itching to move back every day
while skating is like the reason you do it
flatground skating isnt bad
this is more just sending it
which is cool, but we send it way less imho 😄
No it’s not bad at all I can’t get like any tricks down though which makes me kinda sad
bro had a goose egg on his elbow after this session
gotta practice a lot
I try I just can’t seem to understand it lol
listen i cant kickflip but i can tre
anyone know where people ride the building?
it doesnt make any sense
Ive been trying to learn a kick flip for like over a year
And I just can’t wrap my head around it
some tricks are way easier for some reason and some are stupid hard
have you tried any other tricks?
i'm half black and i'm bad at heelflips make it make sense
I don’t know the names of them all
But yes some
try doing heelflp instead of kickflip
That’s just the one that’s the other way right
I’ll give it a shot if i get the time today
can you do shuvs?
there you go dawg, practice those a lot and get good at them
i don't leave the skatepark unless i land 10 tre flips
still dunno how people have that trick so dialed
you could also try doing reverts
i had a friend who would hit it everytime
he couldnt bigspin thou 😝
i can only bigspin on hips
im a bigspin demon
well i used to be, we gonna see when i statr getting back into ti
What’s that?
any backside trick is rocket science idk why
turn your hips 180
on flat without any tricks
you just lift the nose and turn 180 p much
I can try them
watch videos about them and just grind
and dont give up but make sure to take breaks
I gotta fix how I push though first honestly
how do you push?.
you push with your toes?
No I mongo or whatever it’s called
Like the way I’m facing?
So ride goody
which foot do you push with?
My left
yeah try to skate goofy
I ride the way on the right but push with my left
I don’t think I could do tricks at all
I just can’t do tricks with my right foot at the front
Yea that’s just how I’ve always done it lol
I’m just excited to give my brother the board lol
Christmas so I’m gonna have to hold it for awhile lol
He’s getting me a cruiser and I’m getting him a skateboard
cruiser bike or board?
Where we live is not good for just riding around on skateboards
Board
where you from?
i already know that asphalt is terrible
we're state neighbors
ohio probably isnt much of a step up tbh
lol
Do you have packed gravel roads
And roads that are ripped up cause the city is dumb
Yea it’s horrible lol
and we dont have any skateparks near my city, nearest one is an hour away, so skaters around here built a diy
I have one in my city but it’s so bad everything is caved in and it’s rusted cause it’s right on the water
The nearest like good skate park is like 3 hours away
And no one here skateboards so there’s no diy ones
btw, do shoes matter in skating
Sup fellers, so im looking forward to learn how to skate and i already have a board
Just a small question
What should i learn first
how to cruise
getting on and off the board, jumping on the board, pushing while on the board, leaning and turning slowly, tic-tac, cruising
and stopping of course
how to fall is also a good thing to learn, and you should learn to not be afraid of eating 💩
once you learn those things and get comfortable with cruising, look up the youtube channel skateiq. There are loads of videos about how to warmup and overall everything you need to know about the basics
Falling is gonna happen, so learn how to do it without hurting your everything
also make sure if you meet people to ask for tips
the in person teaching is always the best
everyone learns at their own pace so if you feel like you're solid, move onto a new challenge. It took me 2 months after first starting to land shuvits consistently
and dont be afraid of people noticing that youre new, EVERY skater will be more than helpful
this isnt a judgeful sport or hobby
this^^^^ as long as you're trying to learn, no one will judge you. Just don't be a poser
and don't act or lie about being better than you are
and dont be affraid to wear a helmet. andy anderson made it cool again imo.
real.
real
brain damage is not cool
sadly im not able to buy anything with skateboarding, since i gotta fix my feet 😔
Do what you like most but if you are pushing with your front foot you def want to try pushing with your back foot instead.
Why is pushing with your right foot riding regular considered wrong idk why thats the most natural feeling way to get momentum for me, i also suck ass irl😭
I thought that was correct
Left foot in front and pushing with right (back) foot
yes
Wait your right i do it the complete opposite way sorry im tired as hell. I keep my back foot planted and push with the left anything objectively wrong with it or will learning that way stunt what i learn?
you usually want your back foot to be far out on the tail when you get ready for an ollie or turning, which makes your front foot be in a position that can balance you on its own most of the time. and that stance just makes it easier to use the back foot for pushing in general
but there is no correct way. just enjoy the ride and do what feels nice. thats what skating should be about 😄
you might want to read the article i linked earlier. the author describes their own experience after pushing mongo in the beginning and then switching
Ill have to give it a read this game absolutely sparked my interest in skateboarding again i broke my back and hip during a motorcycle accident like a month ago so looking for another hobby to slowly focus on while i repair the bike and myself in the meantime 😂, but oh boy have i had time to do a bunch of nothing in the meantime
hello anyone know what skateboard for intermidiate
skating is usually not the hobby you pick up for rehab but to require rehab lmao
Same could be said for motorcycles but damn do i need some more hobbies to hyperfocus on rn 😭 all things considered im young enough to bounce back from most my injuries thus far just gotta get some good ass insurance in the future these hospital bills suck
i switched from skating to wakeboarding and kitesurfing a few years ago and falling on water is way better for my 30yo body lol
That curb did not feel kind to my body i can say that much ill certainly be paying for it a few years down the road now. The price we pay for the sports we love lmao
same before i even try to do anything bigger than flat ground im getting insurance im alreayd paying off a $2700 bill from having breathing problems
My motorcycle accident is 46k before adjustment or poor person’s forgiveness 💀
all covered by german healthcare 🙏 are you guys from the states?
yep
Yessir born and raised, definitely just lucky to still be here after breaking what i did
i tried getting financial assistance but the process is so rough i just gave up and started a $200 a month payment plan
