I just can't get the hang of any controls. I get set up where the movement is nice, but the tricks and turning is crap.
I tune it where I can easily do tricks, now I'm jumping accidentally and can't control my direction.
It's a whole new system for me and I can't get comfortable

Vans, Paris Trucks, independent trucks, I have no brand loyalty for decks. The majority of decks are made by 2-3 manufacturers so I see what manufacturer is making what deck, then go for a mellow tail to go with my higher trucks. Most of the time I'm riding blank decks cause they are cheaper

It could be that development started not that long ago and it's fricken hard to make a game especially with how huge games are these days. Getting the physics and the animations right is hell to begin with and the files are massive, a chunk of them are probably still working remotely, which makes it hard to collaborate together.

I feel stuck because I finally got the controls down for overall playing, but now if I try and do a trials run on the bike it feels wonky.

I basically have the steep controls for Riders Republic but I switched the rotation and trick sticks.

I guess I'll just stick to Descenders for the biking. Though those controls take a bit to get used to too. The rider control doesn't feel smooth until you play it a lot

In the controls menu, where it says button mapping, click on that then go to tricks menu

There's a lot you can tweak, it's almost overwhelming

While I like (and would rather) rotating on the left stick, it's to much for a smooth landing. I find the rider rotation to jarring. So I have the rotation prep on steeps default
Air rotation on the right stick
Trick direction on the left stick
Air control on the left stick

Ha, good question - technically we're in the realms of off topic now but it's certainly different, but luckily I still have my own freedoms of work schedule which is good. Streaming is good, but tough. Lots of hard work and can pay off which it did for me - but can have some downsides too.

And yeah it's a shame you have to use [REDACTED] to run the game somewhat properly, and of course performance then takes a hit but from what I've seen, Skate 3 runs the best using it. I've only tried Skate 1 using it and I only get performance hits in areas of the Suburbs and whatnot but it holds 60 enough to be playable.

Playing skate 1, then going to Skate 3 (without skate 2) you can really feel the drastic evolution skate took. My only thing is, while I love a lot about skate 3, I really like the more open feel skate 1 had. A lot in 3 feels to close together and cluttered

You can. None of what you see today was intentional, a lot of playstyles feed off of bugs in the game which can be exploited. The original concept was a realistic interpretation of a skateboarding game which it was at the time. Now it's completely lost that credibility
