Whenever I tried it would always start the animation, even if you don't get to the point where it actually grabs. So it still looked whack to me

i'm like 90% sure it's doing the same animation. i use triggers to crouch outside of pumping too to add some steeze, it doesn't switch to grab until you go way too far for pumping

First part of the animation is (almost?) exactly the same so when done correctly it shouldn’t make a difference.

But yeah. The timing of the pump is also about the same so just do what feels good.

I might try triggers more. Good to know both ways.

In my eyes it was a very different animation, I used to work as a games animator so maybe I'm just extra aware, OR maybe I'm just old and don't have the finesse to feather it 😅 That said, I also just like lean forward, it feels natural and means I can hold it before the ramp and have it look more natural

I can't open the game to test right now since I'm at work, but I'll believe you and just accept that I'm skill issued. Not a fan of triggers in general, I miss when R2/L2 were buttons 😔

i think stick pump just has a lock at like 70% of the crouch animation. didn't realize how deep you can go before the hand opens to grab by using triggers. my muscle memory pump is like less than half trigger but you can go pretty deep

LS pump also fits the whole LS for body movement RS for board movement.. so there's that too

that keeps triggers for hands and u dont pump with your hands irl lol

lean forward as a concept has a lot of potential as a way to 'apply weight' to the board.
I've suggested it in #skate-ideas a few times, that stuff like roll-ins, anti-pump, wallies and firecrackers should have a toggle in the settings that enables them when leaning forward, since it makes a lot of sense to me that if you want to do any of those things you would be applying weight to the baord.

it takes some of the range out of your left stick for steering though. there's a whole like 90 degrees, 45 either side of dead forward, that's just dedicated to pump animation. not a fan, especially since i like to use the edge of the stick for wider turns because it's more stable than trying to just nudge the stick directly left or right a bit

so like if i want to make a very slight left, i go full stick foward and then rotate around a little

Yeah I could see lean forward being a pain if that's how you do steering. I rarely do fine adjustments at all tbh, and when I do I tend to just flick the stick repeatedly rather than doing a smooth motion.

when up on the awning canopy thing, do the one foot break. then take your sweet time to carefully jump off through the bearing to the wooden ramp-thing on the left. Break immediately to not crash into the wooden railing.

Now you can skate towards the rail and do a sad little darkslide on it. Then flip trick your way to the score requirement and skate through the green bearing.

Yes, I raged trying them yesterday. Over 75% of the challenges in this game have a serious design problem and the ZexyZek ones are even worse... it's sad bc the game itself is good but the challenges are horrendous. And I have thousands of hours on skate 3 and 24 days on skate.

It's very kind of you but I always find a way to trick the challenge or i just do the bare minimum and i quit 🙂 for example, the darkslide on the rainbow is bugged, it's almost impossible to grind it (in the challenge) so i caveman'd somewhere else and did the darkslide from the other side

I've completed every challenge in the game, so its not an insult to me. My point is its not a skill to accomplish them its a test of patience because when it inevitably comes time to do them again I know what to do. I can do them but it is a battle against glitches or poor level/challenge design that take up the time and its not that a lot of them are hard they are just a bit boring and un-inspired they are either to general and easy or they are hard due to awkwardness and not skill. For example do any flip trick across x gap to any grind is super simple and boring to do it should be more do a three flip to Smith on x gap to rail. That is a challenge based on skill and not relying on jank to make it difficult.

I agree. I also have been saying I want harder challenges and not the broken-hard kind that we got with the Nike event. The current zek challenges are hard and sort of broken on purpose but that's just a way of playing I (we?) don't like. It's not that they are bad or badly designed or executed (mostly). It's just another style/taste. We then have a couple of choices: ignore it, or endure it against our will. I do it half/half where I try it for a while and then cheese it until I got out of it what I want (in this case: the orange pants and a couple of hours entertainment). And them move on.

if you're only getting 1080s on the mega ramp on grom it means you're not actually jumping

you're jumping late, and the ramp is launching you

when i was putting the clips together the only way i could only do a 1080 with prewind is if i jumped too late

make sure you take off earlier, if you're too late, the ramp just launches you at speed and you dont get the height

also, i have zero idea if this makes a difference and this part may be in my head, but i feel like doing an impossible when you launch slightly spins you faster on the first 180.

but that's just a feeling 😄

but i feel like i can get 1620s more consistently by doing a front foot impossible as a launch and without i might just hit 1440s.

you can also use the right stick after spinning at the very end, flicking it to get a small amount of extra rotation

so like even on flat, if you do a 180 to your right but flick the right stick right at the end, you'll do roughly a 270 or so 😄

its really helpful to make transitions to manny's look steezy

but you can use it on big airs to make a sketchy land work

Just in-case someone does like what I did and searches for advice on Board Meets Bill in the discord and sees the Inconsistent Advice:

If you're struggling on getting the "Pump on the Roll-In":
Ollie/Flip Trick down into the first ramp - Pumping counts more often than not after a trick and requires a lot less precise timing then just trying to naturally pump down the ramp. This works without having to change any Pump Settings, like Anti-Pump or Semi-Auto Pump

If you're struggling on getting the "Grind the Billboard":
Ollie/Flip Trick down into the first ramp, or Place a Sloped/Curved Ramp on the Higher Vert Ramp near the final Bearing - Believe it or not, the trick on the first ramp will give you a lot more height to get up to the Billboard, and if you cant grind it from that, then placing a ramp or jumping up to grind the Billboard via the Vert Ramp you use to Exit into the last Bearing will easily help out a lot.

if you're hitting only a 1080 with prewind on the grom mega ramp, you're most likely jumping too late
