Something that's never been answered officially is why won't they sell us the real decks too?
Instead of still just giving them all away when a lot are sold by scalpers on eBay etc. So many players want to support the game but the merch is still being gatekept.

Are they seriously telling us they don't like money, advertising and fans? It only adds to a games' success and denying it makes no sense from a business perspective.

I think there’s a lot of different ways to look at it.

One reason being engagement. I think a lot more people interact with giveaways than people actually wanting to buy the board.

Actually incredible that a ps1 game could feel so good. A little off on physics but God when you hit those harder high scores and have to start planning your run a bit it's unlike any other skating game I've ever played.

Considering they had to probably rebuild a lot of the code to match modern consoles I think the mechanics are a huge plus. Yeah it's missing some stuff from before but it also does some things better than the original games.

I don't directly blame the devs themselves for problems with the game. Tbh. Industry standards are in a nose dive and they're doing what they can.

No one can convince me that day to day workers didn't care about the game, they're just handcuffed by higher powers who definitely didn't understand what made skateboarding games great.

All I know is new spots and stuff to do are critical to keep this game from dying. The fact I have like 50 k of these rip chips sitting in my account and all I can do with them is buy passes to an island (which is lame) or buy the rest of the boxes that has stuff I don't want.

i think the biggest kinda issue at the start was it kinda felt like they were trying to please so many different potential players. and by not doing a good enough job at the time, alienated everyone in the same process.

so by trying to appease fans of the series and new ones who were seeing these big tricks and christ airs on tiktok/youtube shorts who were seeing like "woah its fortnite with skateboards" kinda vibe...

i also think people expected far too much of the game in s1/2/3

by and large, they've stuck to and hit the things they were hoping to get out with the roadmaps. they've delivered most of what they said was coming... people just had higher expectations than what they were being promised.

my understanding is that the game development suffered from extremely poor executive leadership until recently when they fired a bunch of people. if you look at the development over the past 5 years or so it really looks like they were forced to scrap almost everything that was more "realistic" design-wise at some point in favor of more cartoonish graphics and a new map. which makes me think that at some point, the higher-ups were like "we need to appeal to the Kids™" without really considering what that would mean for the development cycle.

I think it's hard to pinpoint what exactly is an "original player". There are a lot of different players with their own wishes and things they liked in the old games. Some people like skate 3 because it became popular online at some point with tricklines and tiktok content and idk wth happened. For me, I consider myself an original player because I played all three games at launch and I like skate 2 the most, personally. And I mostly liked the story and the challenges and never played any of the 3 games online. And there are so many people all over the place in terms of what they want in a game like this.

Where I lived didn’t have one for the longest time, but they recently built one and not only does it have touchscreen drink dispensers and touchscreen slushy mixers, but also an on demand Arnold Palmer dispenser.

You can customise the level of sugar and sweetness you want in your drink. It’s incredible. I no longer am forced to buy diabetes in a cup. I can tone down the sugar, it is diabolically, criminally, amazing.

fc4 is pretty similar to 3 as well, mostly just the same with some added gameplay elements (introduction of controlling wildlife, Hunter type enemies which dont stay cam-highlited for very long, flying vehicles, etc) but nothing game breaking. if 6 is similar to 3 then i'd LOVE to play it; trying to get 3 working these days requires a lobotomy since it keeps trying to connect to ubisoft services that don't exist anymore
