Dev update honestly has me excited about the game's future again, new areas being 'locked' behind the pass is still a low blow, but if they're just going to keep going with that model then the pass is essentially just a subscription for all the content which I can live with, especially as the amount of content gets bigger.

My only gripe with the early access for pass holders is that pass progress gets locked behind the pass (Assuming it will have tix challenges like grom did). Ideally the early access areas should not have tix challenges until it's open for everyone.

Yeah, but that's kind of the issue.

In other games I would often wait to get the premium pass until I know I've completed it, to make sure I only spend the money when I can get its value in content. However in Skate. I have to buy it early, because the completion of the entire pass requires having the pass (when tix challenges are in early access areas)

Take overwatch for example, the free track and premium track of the pass are technically the same track. If I complete the 'free' track, I've also theoretically completed the 'premium' track, I just don't get the premium stuff until I pay for the premium pass.

So I can just complete the pass (In skate. terms that would just be, I can save up all my tix until I know I can buy everything in the pass), before buying the pass. However when tix are locked behind owning the pass (eg. early access to area for pass holders), then I simply won't be able to earn enough tix to complete the full pass, because I'll be missing out on tix challenges for half of the season.

if it happens again, sometimes you need to Restore Licenses on the PS OR .. i've had to do this one or two times (which technically should be at least monthly) is to Rebuild the Database when in Safe Mode.
(it's like Defragging your drive on the PS to reorganize - and you don't lose any data. Makes the drive last longer and will improve loading times of games.)

I bought the 50 dollar founder pass during the playtest to support the team but the rip chip/premium pass change completely turned me off of spending money on the game, if I'm being brutally honest. I think it was an anti-consumer move that made my group kinda upset, and drove away friends. I admittedly have only played once or twice during the free access to Grom event. Since then I'm kinda just back to playing Skate 3.

I play - on average - 2-3 hours every day.
but focusing on just the Tix stuff, maybe an hour a day.

Paid previews for an area is a ridiculous concept. Everyone knows this is silly. To the point where there's basically copypastas to defend (or at least write off) the predatory monetization in this game. Paying for a preview to something is the same as paying for it. Devs early in development said there would be no charges on map content. Now as a way to circumvent that statement they've added it to the PAID premium pass. They know people will buy it for access to the map. Therefore they're charging for it. It's really not that complicated. Pretending like this game isn't just a vehicle for a cynical monetization model THIS FAR into things is an actual joke.

Time is money. I'd rather spend that time skating and hanging out with friends than doing challenges, and I got friends that weren't on board from Season 0 and they find it more daunting to have the lootbox grind + grom/new area access, and they're bummed so they moved on to other games.

Idk I think I'd rather rip chips be used for free cosmetic rewards, new props, stuff like that. Again, I totally understand that Full Circle is a company and has to make money, but I think still having to pay rip chips to access prior seasonal areas is a bit much.

You know what I liked in the old games? The fact that I could just skate anywhere in the city I wanted. That's all I ever did - free skate around hunting for spots, filming lines, doing gaps. I do the same thing in Session too. Skate doesn't want me to play that way anymore though, instead it wants me to do 50-60 hours of challenges per season, pay $10 per season or wait 1 month before being able to skate certain parts of the city.

you had to buy the game (at launch it was $60 vs. free).
actual paid DLC - AfterDark, Danny Way, Maloof - and then there was the Time is Money Pack (to speed along progression) vs. spend some earnable-only currency for a 24 hour pass.
(yes, I hear you on the "any time I want". That's a great point.)

Full priced game + all DLC was like $130ish.
And you had to pay to play online on PS3 and Xbox. So you had to factor that in as well.

Heres a perspective for you to consider, I paid $65 cad for the welcome pack on launch, now 7 months later its expected i buy a pass for every season if i just want to skate in the new areas. its a little bit of a slap in the face of the original supporters of the game. Ontop of that, I spent my currency on skins, and then you update the game and change their look.

The perception of this game/company isn't going to magically turn around until you stop treating us like a piggy bank that you don't care about. I also bought season 2 welcome pack, so with taxes I am about $80-85 deep in this game already.

i log into Skate 3 once a week to see my friend's ghost character.
He passed away 5 years ago. Sometimes I just sit and watch his ghost skate.

best practices would be to remove most subscription/ currency based purchases and "battle pass" paywalls. make challenges respawn once per hour, designate all paid items to the item shop to cost rip chips, change any "battle pass" access parks into paid dlc and allow rip chip 24hr passes as optional to buying said dlc. maybe servers can stay up for online play but if not, make AI skaters skate 3 style and name them after old players. Events could be reoccurring seasonally as a way to keep things semi fresh. introduce a park editor for players to make and upload maps for the community.

if the dlc path isnt followed the worst thing they can do since EA has been.. something with microtransactions is to nickle and dime every event/limited time cosmetic and do all of the above instead

you can't set slowmode amounts per role - though I will reach out to my contacts at Discord as that's a dope idea.

also, the 2 min cooldown is to help encourage good conversation rather than rapid-fire word salads (not directing this at you).
