Hii questionn! So where can I land a 1080 now? All the old tricks don’t work- doesn’t count to hit a trick switch to spread eagle or to break it apart into a bunch of fliptrick 180s with manuals between em. They got rid of the ramps off M-Tower cranes, and the huge ramp in grom seems to only let me land 900s with all my attempts.

right but there's no reason that has to be synchronized for every player, it's not like the server is calculating my lighting for me. it generally is on multiplayer games but there are no versus modes in skate so whats the point

i'm confused. what does the lighting my computer displays have to do with the server and player position and QDOs? am i missing something or is frostbite really just written so poorly that it literally can't display different lighting for different players on a server?

i imagine it would just be like a time of day flag on the server that's sent to the client to render that specific value, right?
and then only if they needed it to be synchronized across players. servers don't handle actually computing any of that, they deal with player location and other back end services. the player's computer is the one that'll be rendering lightmaps, whether global or local illumination.

when i say precomputed or baked in global illumination its literally pre-rendered offline, nothing happens on your computer for that part.. lightmaps and so forth are applied not calculated and rendered locally.. so to change day/night a new map instances with pre-rendered lighting is used..

to achieve the scenario of me playing day and you playing night you'd need different pre-rendered maps.. and for the game to work so we can play together the player position/QDOs have to be separated from the server instance which is currently doing all that and streaming us map data

the lightmaps are pre-rendered and then bundled in the game files that are on my PC though, so that my computer doesn't have to calculate lightmaps for objects in real time. the server doesn't care about lightmaps, only the player's hardware does.

lighting is done on my GPU, not the server

same with how physics are done entirely locally and then sent to the server to visually synchronize for everyone else. the server just sees a set of coordinates and animations to send to everyone else, it's not actually calculating it for me

Am I tripping, but ever since the new "Own the Lot" task came out, San Van completely stopped having "Own the Lot" challenges? I remember literally every region of the map had at least one "Own the Lot." Now, for one whole month, all I've seen is the one "Own the Lot" in Rolling Waves that no one fully completes. And now I've noticed on Grom, the only other "Own the Lot" is completely gone. I genuinely think this was not meant to be completed.

Is anyone else's game running WAY worse on PC? I lost up to 60 frames. It always hovered around 120-130 and it's now constantly at 70s-80s (on both Isle of Grom and San Van) and regardless of settings, borderless, fullscreen, different Hz. My PC is fine, normal temps and all other games are running normally. I've rebuilt shaders, DDU'd driver but nothing. It does feel like a VSync issue, as the menu is also affected but nothing fixes it

i found the settings container. go to:

*%localappdata%\Skate\data[your numbered folder]\skate™*

inside there, check the two weird folders like 8e3010f / ff1f3ef. the one you want is the one with a CONTAINERS file that mentions ProfileSettings or ProfileSettings2.

that container is the graphics/profile settings because it includes lines like:

VSync;v_sync_off Target Framerate;target_uncapped_present_tltr Global Graphics Quality;Custom

close skate + the ea app/steam fully, then rename that whole folder to something like:

8e3010f_backup

don’t delete it. just rename it so the game is forced to rebuild fresh settings on launch. if the fps issue is from a broken config/frame limiter, that should be the cleanest reset.

I have g-sync enabled with vsync on in nvidia control panel and vsync off in-game. I run all Ultra settings aside from global illumination, I have that set to static instead of dynamic and I get 240+ FPS consistently.

are you trying to do a grab and it does a dark catch/dark slide?
B/Circle for dark catch is a legacy thing. it should only happen if you do a flip trick AND start holding B/Circle before the grab animation starts. So if your muscle memory has you pressing Grab+Circle simultaneously for no foot grabs, odds are Circle registers the press first and thus starts the dark catch. So make sure you're pressing the grab first and delaying pressing B/Circle a bit.

at least add the option to the dark catch settings. Having it match the legacy controls has no significance. none of the rest of the controls have two buttons that do the same things.

That fixed it! Thank you so much, back on the 100s again. Also, CONTAINERS is not in either of those folders, but outside them. They only both have DATA and INDEX files, but looking at the DATA files, the one with graphics settings was in 8e3010f. Renamed it, got a "configure new settings" screen and it's back to normal. you're at the mercy of data transfer via USB Hub.
that's REALLY only great for saving data, images, pics, videos.

running a game off it isn't great. (and the first thing anyone troubleshooting will tell you is - install it on the computer.)

you're asking the PC to read the USB drive, process it, send back details, stay connected, etc.
it's overworking your PC to run it off the USB drive.
