According to the devs, the a la carte basic shop will have 200 basic items. So think every color of t-shirt, short, pants, crop top, cheerleader skirt for SVB.
These will never leave.
Branded items will still rotate and also cost SVB.
Would've been awesome if the basic items cost rip chips but hey, that would be too advantageous for players.

roadmap is looking good - idk, just gotta tune monetization a lot if thats the direction. If "basic" catalog stuff is priced how it normally is ($1.50 - 3.50), that still is really expensive for having basic variations. Goal is to maximize revenue per player but seeing stuff like a Burt Blaze premium suit for $21.00 just makes me wish they were experimenting in different ways lol

I would ask the devs to reflect within themselves. What drew you to skating, if anything? Were you a kid of the 70's.... 80s.... 90s...... Did you watch Rodney Mullen change skateboarding.... did you watch Tony Hawk push through and pull off the 900 at the xgames (I was there)....... did you witness the evolution of the darkslide.... witness what Daewon Song could do....... Jamie Thomas land the leap of faith, or witness Andy Anderson take everything that was history and reinvent it. This is skateboarding.... it's not fortnight. Give us, and the sport the respect it deserves. The reality is, a lot of us old school skaters, and gamers for that matter, are probably older than half the dev team, save a few. We've seen it, we've lived it, we've felt its impact. Respect for the sport and what it stands for, goes a long way.

at some point all this testing has to stop, no more excuses or claims they're listing.. just make a game that appeals for skateboarding reasons and make decisions that get us there

The kids who like fortnight and minecraft, aren't real interested in skating... trust me.... I've tried with my own kids.... Know your demographic. If people want to skydive and do stupid stuff, there's other games..... They have to pay respect. Skating and skate culture has been around a lot longer than Skate, or EA for that matter. The games back in the day paid hommage and respect to the culture.... that's why it worked. They leaned into it and we embraced it. It's really not a difficult forumala. Maybe hire a 40 year old in the office to sort things out. Just saying.

at this point there's nothing we can do but just keep pointing them in the right direction and voicing our criticism, in a civil way (some people go way too far), and just wait for the full release/ the full vision to manifest. A lot of games went through this period of having a very very rough start but got way better as time went on because the devs didn't give up on it and i hope skate continues to exist and for the devs to keep working on it.

I'm also acutely aware that they need to make money. I get what they are doing with charging for access to Grom 2.0. However, there's other avenues it would be better directed. Why not host an XGames style tournament,. Charge us Rip Chips per entry.... let us do a bunch of rounds on an XGames, or SLS course to compete. Save our scores and compare them to people on our friends lists etc. It's not difficult. Make it about the skating, make it competitive. We have zero issues paying for skating content....... But if its a firecracker suit, or an acorn and snowflake on my grip tape, or a pair of crocs with flames on the toes....... that aint it.

Imo with in game currencies they need to look at what Marvel Rivals are doing. Have 3 currencies, 1 that can only be bought with real world money, 1 that is strictly a in game currency, and (most importantly) 1 that connects the other two currencies. Doing that would make players want to spend their money. They NEED to make these currencies more player friendly. Imagine buying tix just to find out you’re gonna lose them at the end of the season, that’s real world money into the void.

The feedback system is awful also. And I'll happily say it clearly. I've been a skate insider since early alpha. I've submitted so much feedback that was flat out ignored. Sure I got my skate insider deck, stickers and title...but they never provided acknowledgment for any feedback whatsoever, and changes never reflected general feedback. The exact same things we were complaining about 2 years ago.... still persist. The devs need to realize, that the players, are the only people who can keep their work, dream, and vision afloat. You have to work with us...... you mightn't like how we sometimes provide feedback, but without us.... there's nothing. If we all leave, we're both done. Finished. Like anything in life, you're argument is only worth so much, to a point. Until the opposing side loses interest, and stops arguing... Then you're left with nothing...... Don't dismiss our arguments.

That's the challenge with making a live service skating game, they delay stuff that can be easily implemented just to save them for future seasons or updates to keep people coming back. I'm grateful it's f2p though. Hopefully they build more on the competitive side of the sport as i think this is a zone they can get creative with and can really elevate the game

I remember trying to teach someone the beanplant launch speed glitch, & I took five minutes breaking down the steps of each motion, showing him I was hitting A to beanplant by standing & spam jumping before grabbing my board & doing it.

Skate has a lot of interesting techs. Being able to teach newer players how to utilize them would be great.

Eitherway, the devs need to realize that skating was cool, all the way back in the 70's through the 90's, because it broke tradition and wasn't the 'norm'. When you follow the Fortnite and Minecraft formula, You're literally going against, what made skating a 'thing' in the first place. It gained traction because it wasn't the 'norm'. On one hand, the only things I really want from this game (that aren’t in it now) are tattoos, and more places to skate (that aren’t all flipping flat and covered in skyscrapers). Season 3 solves that for me, so I’m happy.

Yep. My favorite tricks in previous games were finger flips. Insane they still won’t be in the game until at least s4. Like how hard is it? They have to be intentionally drip feeding stuff like that.

I would've gladly paid full price for a game where I don't need to care about a season passes or servers shutting down eventually. I don't care about cosmetics that much, so nothing has really enticed me enough to pay for it, especially with things growing a little stale with (at least in my mind) very little to do, which feels contrary to the whole idea of a live service game.
Now a whole area is being paywalled (or grind-walled, I guess) and it just kind of feels like the wrong direction to go. It's still in early access, with a painful lack of content, and now we're asked to pay for what feels like a pretty basic feature this early on. It just feels like there isn't enough in the game yet to start asking us to pay to make up for that.
I get that I'm not contributing by not paying for cosmetics, and I get that it might sound like I'm asking for everything to be free, but it's the opposite, I just want access to all the playable content for the price of a regular game, and the ability to play it beyond the point of the servers shutting down. I'm pretty disappointed by this development.

Hey guys, quick question about replay playback stutter in skate.

I record my gameplay with OBS (which plays back perfectly smooth), but when I go into the in-game replay editor to review clips, scrub through, or pick angles, the playback stutters randomly skater freezes for a split second on pops/landings, frame drops, jitter, etc.
It happens even though the actual OBS recording is fine.

Anyone else dealing with this? Any settings, tricks, or workarounds to make the in-game replay playback smoother for reviewing/clipping without having to drop graphics super low?

At this point you need to expect that anything other than tricks will be paywalled. If they don’t, great. But odds are more likely they monetize every aspect of this game that they can. We spent years under the belief that only cosmetics would be monetized, until that changed.
